Ninja Mom I am sorry to hear of your loss, my mother has been waging battle with cancer for many years now and is not ready to quit the fight. This week we found out that my Father In Law is in stage 4. We will get through this. :grouphug:

Dee also if you could put us on your list for Dec. 2-6 as we will be at BC to celebrate DS birithday.

Teena and Janet, would love to hear more details! We have an ADR there in January. We're going to make it - we used to have ADRs there when we stayed at WL and always ended up canceling. But not this time!

I sent pics from my telephone to Dee and perhaps she'll post them.

Service and food the best at WDW as far as I'm concerned.

For me it isn't about any specific details, it is just the entire atmosphere. It is such a calm and comfy room. All the chaos of Disney stops at the door of Artist Pointe.

Like all of us, I do love the chaos of Disney, but is also nice to find that little oasis of calm in the midst of it.

We've eaten there a few times. The food is always yummy and the service is top notch.

I'll try to get those posted in the morning. Just back from the soft opening of Ben's show.

It went great! Tomorrow is official opening night.

NinjaMom, I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I'm sure your mom loved being part of "that" family and it helped her through her last days. Looking forward to hearing all about your family trip to WDW! :grouphug:

:grouphug:
Thanks to every one for all the kind condolences. Everyone in the family feels a lot better now that my Mom is at peace. :littleangel: It occurred to me today that we did a lot of our mourning while Mom was getting sicker. She really helped us through that by talking to us and telling us how much she loved and appreciated us during her last days. I know I feel like a tremendous burden has been lifted.

Anyone get a good one? I am prob over thinking my room requests to be sure!
But of anyone had a good standard view location and view could you let me know? Have any pics from balcony?

At first I thought to request high floor near BC end. No roof view.

Now I'm just thinking to ask high floor, no roof, best view possible!

I know I'm not the only one out there who agonizes over rooms :rotfl:

What about requesting ground floor? You'll be sure to get a patio (I think....) and that gator they spotted last summer was only hanging out in the lagoon by the BCV because he must have been staying on points.

NinjaMom, I am just now seeing your post and I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Planning your trip with your extended family is going to be an excellent way to honor your Mother's memory! I don't know how many people are going or if you were planning on staying onsite or not, but we went with my husband's family several years ago and rented a house and condo in Windsor Hills. If you would like the owner's info, message me.

Even though it's a kid-centered trip, make sure you have time for a Grey Goose or Gran Marnier Slushie!

Today I went to the Disney outlet store and cleaned them OUT for my Niece and Nephew! My 3 year old Niece is doing Bippity Boppity Boutique so I hooked her up with a hugely discounted Sleeping beauty princess gown. My niece is funny because she doesn't care which princess it is as long as the dress is PINK! I was texting pictures of the dresses in the outlet store to my Sister in Law, who was at home, and she told me my Niece was playing dress up and coming over to her and telling her her new name was something like Princess Lucinda.

I got my Nephew some cute Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Spiderman t-shirts and jammies so he doesn't feel left out. (can Spiderman be cute???) I also got fleece jackets on sale for $12 for all the grand kids that were personalized with their names for free on the Disney Store web site. We'll park them all in front of the castle wearing their fleeces (or "fleas as my nephew says) for a family portrait.

We are staying at POFQ so no condo. I thought staying on property would be better because everyone can go back when they want. Half the kids are teens and the other half are munchkins so I'm betting on park transportation to keep everybody on their own schedule when we are not glued together.

We made dining reservations so here's the line up:

Monday lunch at Hollywood and Vine with June from Disney's Little Einsteins, Jake the Neverland pirate, Handy Manny and Special Agent Oso. I have no idea who these dudes are but it sounds like fun to me!

Tuesday we are at that heck hole known as Chef Mickeys. I'm planning on amping up the fun by starting a food fight with the kids that run around unattended at this buffet ; )

Wednesday we are at Princess Central, also known as Akershus. This will be my Niece's Bippity Boppity Boutique day. We've been there before and we liked it, so we are happy to go back and my boys are happy because they can eat in peace and not be on the Princess meet and greet hot seat like they were before when the 5 of us went. LOL!!!

Thursday we are at the Garden Grill in the land pavilion at EPCOT with Chip and Dale. This is new for all of us so we are looking forward to it, especially since it's not something we would consider doing with Teens.

Friday we are at the Biergarten in Germany where all the adults will get drunk ;) and the kids will escort our wobbly butts to the buses. This is the day when the older folks plan on getting pushed around the parks in strollers with the little ones doing all of the pushing. Turn about is fair play I say!

Saturday I am thinking Rain Forest Cafe. I've never been but I heard it's noisy in there. My dad is hard of hearing so we plan on seating him right next to anything in there that is roaring or burping. While I'm thinking of it we should plan on putting the teen boys down that end as well. They can get pretty growly and burpy, not to mention gassy, and crabby, as well as stinky, dirty and tired. Hey! I think I've just come up with a set of substitute seven dwarfs!

So planning for this February trip is really putting a wag in my tail. My December Beach Club trip is also right around the corner. That trip is already planned out and as soon as I finish planing the February trip I can get my head back into the December trip. The December trip is going to be everything I hope it will be and the February trip will be everything 'new' I am excited to experience with the little ones. Sounds like a plan to me!

:sad1: I think I'll just miss you, we will be in POFQ late Jan, and check out Feb 2. I'll be the one being dragged onto the DME bus kicking and screaming nooooooo, dont make me leeeeave

Guess I'm not the only one with 2 trips on the burner, Jan at FQ & Aug YC :)

When we went in March, I just requested a "Nice view". We were staying CL, so I automatically had the high floor. I think you should just ask for high floor, with nice view. Don't limit yourself by saying no roof.

Our view overlooked some parking lot and roofs, but it was still nice. We were just to the side of the porte cochere. The best part of the view was at night, when we could see Wishes. :goodvibes

In my trip report you will see a few posts with pics of the view. Here are some direct links to the daylight view and the night view.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=44804731&postcount=82

I'm thinking that's a good idea now too, and just put upper floor with nice view. And not limit.
In Aug 2011 we had a great GV room at BC CL, and didn't realize we could see the Iluminations till our last night  when we were actually in our room packing! Sheech. Usually if we were at the resort at night, we were floating around SAB!!

Hey Sue, if you request no roof, then that means you will have to look at a parking lot and that pretty much limits you to one area in the back and a low floor.... that is if they meet your request. Sometimes the roof view isn't bad because you can see over the trees and roof to something not as bad as a parking lot.

Thanks Teena, I think I'll just request upper floor? best view possible and hope for the best.
At least I don't have to worry about balcony request, :rotfl: they all have full balconies!!! I think :goodvibes

Thank you for the warm thoughts and good luck to you and your parents. I wish you the best in the times to come. Keep strong and keep the faith. Families can really come together and have a positive impact during these tough times. :umbrella:

One of these days I'm going to learn how to multi quote

Hey Sue! There is a Multi Quote tutorial near the end of the FAQ post on page 1 (Post 12). Try it out with us here. We are really friendly. :goodvibes

Basically, you click on the middle (double quote, ") button in the bottom right corner of any post you want to quote. Repeat for all the posts you want to quote. When you are done, hit the REPLY at the bottom of the page. You will get quote boxes for all of the posts for which you clicked the " button.

It has been a while since I have been to the Disney store- did you get the Spiderman stuff there? Have they started welcoming and embracing the Marvel characters?

I thought I would take this opportunity to share a joke my son Nate made up when he was around 5 or 6:

Q: How does Spiderman know that it is time to go to the bathroom?

A: His Spidey Senses start Tinkling.

OK, off to post Teena's pictures and then make a "Scale of Dragon" for the witches. I was able to buy the entrails for the cauldron, but they weren't cheap!

Hi all, we are headed to BCV on 11/3 for a week, anybody know when hurricane Hanna's is going to reopen? In the interim where can we get food and drinks near the pool? Thanks!

Thought someone else would respond but I didn't see one. Sorry. HH is down until mid to late Dec. In the meantime, they have stepped up efforts to get around at SAB to take drink orders. You also have a few other places to hit that are close by for food. Some say the options are better than the old HH. There are pictures a few pages back if you can find a few minutes to go and look for them. You'll see all these options when you get there. Not a big concern. Definately not as conveniant as HH. Don't worry, be HAPPY!

Teena and Janet, would love to hear more details! We have an ADR there in January. We're going to make it - we used to have ADRs there when we stayed at WL and always ended up canceling. But not this time!

Not who you were hoping to hear from but I will say that when the DW and I ate there a few years ago we had one of the best dining experiences at WDW we ever had (okay, maybe V&A was better, but this was right up there!). It may have been where they seated us (far back in a quiet corner) it may have been the waiter (who I think had a second job as a stand-up comedian) but the food was definately the hit of the evening. We are looking forward to the time when we can return and enjoy it again.

NM, ditto on the other four pages of posts.

Teena, Mickey is quickly reaching the end of the ship. See you in a few weeks.

:welcome: to this thread and the DIS!!!

There is an activities post on Page 1 of this thread and the activities schedule for October is there (Post 6 or 7, I think). The November schedule won't be released until the beginning of the month, but you will be able to get it when you are there.

We also have a "Be Our Guest" list on Page 1 (Post 13, I think). I'll add you to the list soon and you can look to see who else is vacationing while you are there.

I'm a few days behind on updates, I'll be able to go through and catch up on the last several pages of the thread on Saturday or Sunday.

Keeper of the Thread

A BIG old first post Welcome garneyb .....I've seen the activites at the pool but the best way to get a description is go to page one post number four and look at the activities sheet. Zoom in and you can see day by day, hour by hour.
