Hope someone can help me with this question, we're onsite and dining plan newbies :) - if I use a quick service meal credit for lunch at the BC Marketplace is my drink credit only good for a fountain soda or can I have one of the bottled drinks from the fridge section?

TIA

You can get a bottled beverage - I know my kids got powerade and bottled water.

I may have asked this in a previous thread, and if so I never marked it and thus forgot the answer...

We have a King Bed requested for our trip. Any able to give me an idea of what the room may look like? I've read that there is a chance it will be a Murphy bed which isn't an issue but it seems all BC pics I can find are of 2 queen beds and I'm really intrigued in what I can expect.

Woah, woah, woah! A murphy bed? As in a bed that packs up in the wall? Do these exist at YC and BC? What's the deal?

That's what I'm trying to find out lol

This is from WDWInfo:

Murphy Rooms: "Murphy" or King Standard" rooms include a king sized bed that could fold up into the wall. A small sitting area has a love seat and coffee table, a small table with 2 chairs, sink, counter top and a full bathroom with a double sink inside. Since this room type is smaller than the regular rooms, it is offered at a slightly lower nightly rate and is suitable for two adults.

Thanks for adding me to the guest list, natebenma! Makes it more real, somehow.:goodvibes

Two weeks to go- is it too early to start packing?! :cool1:

I've got my suitcases staged near my computer. Perhaps I'll pull up some parks music on D-Cot and start soft-packing. I'm trying packing cubes this time, after reading awesome reviews on how they help keep things super-organized. Have any of you used them?

For me, YES! Too early.:rotfl: I'm a last minute packer, can't seem to do it any earlier than a day or so before the flight.

We have used packing cubes and they are good, but we don't use as many now as we did in the past. Love the smaller ones for socks and undies, use them every trip - but the bigger ones for shirts are a little more trouble than they're worth, IMO. Kind of defeats the purpose. I just bundle my shirts and pants now, much easier and about the same amount of wrinkles.:flower3:

77 days. I feel like I should be doing something to prepare, but I have no idea what I should be doing.

I am going to take advantage of the Massachusetts Sales Tax Holiday today to go buy a new camera to take on our trip. And since I just got a raise and a bonus today, I can get what I want instead of scrimping. YAY!

We have officially started packing, well doing laundry to pack. My DH put the luggage carrier (soft, collapsible kind) on last night to see how many suitcases we could fit in there and then drove around. He seems to think it will work out great. Since we are spending our first night at All Star Sports, do you think it is okay to leave most of the stuff in the carrier? I never considered it, but my DH asked if we should be worried about people breaking into it???

Any news on HH's? I'm trying to decide if I should bring buckets and shovels for the boys, or if I will be able to purchase the kid's meals while we are there.

We decided to spend our entire first day the resort, since my DH and I will probably be tired from our long drive. Do you think we should try and eat at Beaches & Cream or Captain's Grille?

This is our first YC visit, but we're planning Captain's Grille for lunch the day we arrive. I see you have kids. I think they'd probably really enjoy Beaches & Cream. I've heard it can get crazy busy though, so maybe plan that, but if it's to packed, head to CG instead.

Could you add me to the guest list! We will be at YC Sept. 16 thru 22nd! Can't wait!!:cool1:

Today is a sad day.......we are heading home. :(

We had a great stay despite the bumpy start and leaving is always such a sad time. I thought I could make it better by booking a BB offer and was told by the CM that there is no current BB offer!! That made the morning worse. I guess I will book when I get back home and hope for a GP or AP discount to come out.

Unfortunately we did not spend as much time at SAB as we did last year. I think we were only there one evening. I think with the kids getting older they want to spend the evenings in the parks riding roller coasters. Plus we have a pool at home so there isn't a huge yearning for pool time like there was before we had it.

For those of you on your way, enjoy every minute. It goes by way too fast!!

Thanks so much for keeping the Be Our Guest List! We will be YC CL GV from April 13 - 20.

Loving this thread...everyone is so nice!

You certainly don't offend us. We just are sad you didn't find the great service most of us do at the Y&B. And of course we want to suggest things that could be done to rectify the situation if others find themselves in similar situations.

I just returned from 3 nights at BC CL and obviously I know the CMs that work there, some I know well and some are fairly new and I hardly know at all. There was one that worked up there one afternoon that was very "cool" and not at all outgoing and super friendly like the others. It stood out.

We've had horrid service at the Contemporary and Coronado. We therefore won't go back there.

Thank goodness Disney has so many properties to pick from that I'm sure you will find one that becomes your "home".

No company or resort, no matter how wonderful it is, is perfect and things happen that do not meet people's expectations. I love Chevy cars. I use to love Ford. But my last Ford was a disaster from day one so I switched to Chevy and until Chevy gives me a bad experience I'll stick to Chevy. I think it's the same thing with resorts/hotels, etc.

My final thoughts and I've told everybody that has had any type of problem at the Y&B with guest service or room maintenance, etc. The Y&B management team want you to have a wonderful vacation. They can't fix it if they don't know something is broken. If you don't get service or anything else that meets your expectations, please let the appropriate people know by writing a letter after the vacation or by asking to speak to someone while you are there. If you don't get satisfaction with whoever you talk to at the resort while you are there, ask whoever you did talk to to please have "their" boss talk to you.

And we do move people to other resorts all the time if they do not have the experience they want at our resort (subject to availability of course). Please do not ever hesitate to talk to a manager about moving if you are at any resort and you are not happy.

Darn, I thought you were at the Yc! I would have stalked the hallways to try and meet you!!! ;) Hope you guys had a great time, we are at the airport headed home.

Check with another CM. I'm very sure I saw the Bounceback offer in our room last week.

No need to worry about buckets. There are hundreds of them lying around for anyone to use. They keep a stack of them by the lifeguard station. HH is still open as of today.

It probably was in your room last week. The CM told me it had to be booked by July 31. I think they are getting to roll out the new BB offer with free dining. I read somewhere they do that in August but I didn't know that meant no offers were available during that time. :/

Quick question: can kids wear swimmies or a life vest to go down the 2 smaller slides? Thanks!

DS4 has worn a life vest both years to go down both the big slide and the smaller slide at the kiddie pool. He is ready and raring to go this year again!

Thank you so much for taking the time to check into this request and snapping the picture. I don't have health club pictures on Page 1. Do you mind if I post this?

I have a few pictures of the equipment in my files but I don't have express permission to permanently use the pictures, so I only post them upon request.

If anyone happens to have some pictures of the health club equipment that they wouldn't mind sharing, I would love to post them on Page 1.

Ditto on the Spa/Periwigs but I know those places don't necessarily lend themselves to photo ops.

Thanks!!!

Dee

You have my full permission to use any photos I post. My DW always gets a bit mad at me for taking random photos lol. She only wants pics of our family and I'm snapping away pics of the imperial walker outside star tours ;) so it gave me a good excuse. I'll see what else I can snap while out and about!

Thanks so much, very sweet of you to check it out while you're on vacation.:goodvibes It is kind of "in public" so she may prefer to run, etc.;)

ETA: natebenma, we will be there August 22-25.:) If you don't have the photos before we go, we'll be glad to get some of the health club for you.

It was no trouble at all! I did find out the dates of the refurb. Its set to close the 27th of this month and will reopen on the 16th of Sept so it sounds like it will be open when you are here.

Thanks so much!!!

I get some grief from my family too about the pictures I take.

"You're taking a picture of the iron???"

"And the safe?"

But now, they mostly just ignore it and pretend they don't know me!

Based on the info I have, HH will close down the last week in August, so around Aug 27. You should be fine next week.

I think kelleigh's advice is excellent. Try for B&C, but if the wait is too long, eat at Captain's Grille. I could be wrong, but I don't think having an advanced reservation there is necessary.

Definitely a good call to eat close to home. We ate at Captain's Grille for our arrival day dinner, and loved the convenient location and excellent menu.
