2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Dee,
I'm pretty sure this is the map they hand out at the resort desk when you request one. Maybe Teena could check to confirm?

Thanks for that info! If it does come from the resort, I will post it up front because it is a really helpful resource.

I just noticed the compass rose. Love it!

Great picture of the marathoners waiting for the bus!!! Wow, 4:15 am. That's even early for me!!!

May I direct everyone to take a peek at my ticker? 4 weeks from today!!! Mickey has broken away from the monrail.

Wow, Mike, that photo is amazing! First, because it's just a great photo. (I'm tempted to ask for photography advice here.)...

Before kids, I was a very dedicated runner, and I still run a local race once per year, but hearing of the WDW races (1/2 marathon and ToT) I always think about getting back into it. Someday . . .

Thanks pixarmom. As far as the photography goes I just started back last year. I credit (or blame) three friends for getting me going after a very long hiatus. One a family friend, one at work, and a special friend here on the DIS.

The Disney running...We started going to WDW for the half marathon 4 years ago. Just another excuse to go to WDW. More walkers than runners. You should consider coming in January. Between me, wife, 2 sisters, BIL's and DrMomof3 would could start us an official Beach and Yacht Club FAQ Running Team!

I hope the person who requested the microwave does come along; I figured once we passed the AP discount dates I'd make a request for one then. I was just wondering what the likelihood was of getting one is; I'm ok with buying one but then I'd be throwing a microwave away at the end of the trip, which I hate the thought of. Very wasteful.

I think the microwave must be requested at checkin, like the rollaway cots- someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I'll look around in my picture collection to see if I have a picture of the microwave. I'm not positive, but I think I do. Feel free to give me a gentle reminder in a day or two if you don't hear anything from me about this.

Wow! Thanks for all of the great info. I'm really excited about my stay at Yacht club! We just booked a quickie 3 night trip for June. DH and I debated going to WDW in the summer bc I'll be 25 wks pregnant BUT we will be in Tampa for a family reunion anyway sooo.... we are going to surprise DD with a few nights :cool1:. I'm so excited. I can't WAIT to enjoy Stormalong bay with DD!

:cool1: on your summer trip, and CONGRATULATIONS on the upcoming new addition to your family.

As long as you take it easy and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate you should be fine for the trip. Your plan to soak and play in Stormalong Bay is a great one.

Can I join the team? I'll do the beer, and water, and Fast Pass run.

Any time you need an extra refrigerator or a microwave or a rollaway, just call housekeeping from your room and request one. If you don't get it for whatever reason, just call them again. We rarely run out.

Hi Teena! Thanks so much for all the great info you add here. I will be staying at BCV....will I be able to get a rollaway cot there? TIA :goodvibes

Teena is working today, and then heading off to visit her daughter and grandaughter in Las Vegas, so she may not have a chance to respond.

I know you can request a crib at the villas, so I am assuming you can also request a cot, as long as it will fit into the room.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for the input and the awesome picture!!! Maybe I'll see you at the bus in Jan!

Awesome! Come meet me at the finish line with a beer and a FP for Soarin'!!!

Wow, Mike, that photo is amazing! First, because it's just a great photo. (I'm tempted to ask for photography advice here.) But also because I'm surprised to see the line. We were there at the Poly for our youngest son's birthday (which just happened to be Marathon Weekend) in 2011. We're early risers, but not THAT early, and we had no idea of the pre-run activity at the resorts! Before kids, I was a very dedicated runner, and I still run a local race once per year, but hearing of the WDW races (1/2 marathon and ToT) I always think about getting back into it. Someday . . .

I highly recommend the Disney races. All levels of runner. Well-organized and fun races. Do it!!!

I can't confirm it but can tell you that the word on the DIS DVC forums is that cots are not available at DVC resorts. Could just be lore though. People do take aero beds but I'm not sure where they put them?

Teena, have a wonderful trip!!!

Dee, one month....yay!!!

pixarmom, Il Mulino and Shula's are two of a handful of full service WDW restaurants that we've not tried. I've only read good things about Il Mulino and hope to make it one of these days. Does it offer any discounts these days? AP or DVC...oh, wait, I think the Swolphin restaurants now accept TiW! :cool1:

And my news.... I'm going to WDW this month! :dance3: Last minute trip. For the first time, we'll be at BWV but I'll wave at Y&BC. Teena, I hope to get over to visit but it might not happen this trip as we'll be offsite on the days you work and at that point it will be only my younger son and I.

How does this sound for a two day plan for 2 adults and 2 fifteen year olds?

Monday Oct 8
Check in about 10am, explore CL lounge (whats there that time?), have lunch at HH by 1130 to beat the crowds, hit SAB til about 3pm than get ready for MSSHP and get there between 4&5, have counter service dinner somewhere(?), close MK.

Tuesday Oct 9
Breakfast at CL lounge, SAB all day, lunch at HH, mid-day snack at HH (kitchen sink), later dinner buffet at Cape May.

Wednesday Oct 10
Breakfast ot CL lounge, SAB for a couple of hours before check out.

As you can see, SAB figures very centrally in our vacation plans:)

I know there are lots of great choices for meals at the YC/BC, feel like we are going to miss out on so much. This is our first time at BC and so excited, can't wait for my family to see how cool it is!

Any suggestions? Changes?

Thanks!

Here is the link in case you have trouble finding it in my Muggles report.

Dinner at Kona Cafe

Thanks for this review! I currently have a Kona dinner booked since I cannot get into 'Ohana, but this looks so good that I might stop looking for 'Ohana!

BCV- Restaurant.com sometimes sells Il Mulino $25 gift certs for $1. You need to order 2 entrees to use it (so its like buy 1, get 1 free). Its our favorite Italian food in WDW! And they do take TiW now, but I don't think the 2 can be combined. We haven't eaten at Shula's either since we have one here at home.

Cinderumbrella, thanks! Great hint!:cool1:

DisneyMomx7, thank you. I'm excited. How is your mother?

Thanks for your input about the cots. It looks like I forgot to write "cribs" (you can request a crib) in the villas.

Thanks for the good wishes about my trip, and congrats about your trip.

Sounds awesome!!!

Hi...I know it was mentioned that Teena was working today, I just wanted to confirm something....does this mean you can get an extra refrigerator in non-villa rooms along with the microwave? Sorry if this is a "Dumb" question.

Glad you enjoyed the review. Honestly, my family prefers Kona to 'Ohana. The food at 'Ohana is all great, but there is too much of it! I'm a really enthusiastic eater, but even I have my limits.

There was too much food at Kona, too, but that was our fault. By "our" I mean DH- I told him he and Ben should have split one entree.

We also appreciated that the atmosphere is less hectic at Kona.
