2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

So, I am counting down the hours and getting so excited. Can't wait to be back in my favorite place. Of course, I should be packing. I have managed to pack quite a bit in the last day, but still lots to go. Tomorrow, we are celebrating my DD's b'day at home and then we'll celebrate it again on her real b'day in Disney. I think it will be so magical.

Looking forward to trying out BLT and then heading to our favorite place - the Beach Club.

I'll try to check in on vacation. If not, I'll be sure to do a mini report when I am back. Have a great week. :)

Yes, the EPCOT route... lol

At the beggining of the thread, one of the suggestions is to take the bus from YC to DTD but to return, just take a bus to EPCOT, then work your way to the back entrance (doing some rides, grabbing a bite etc..) and walk to the resort. Of course, to do this you need a park hopper.

Which BTW, I'm seriously considering after the feedback here.

Just FYI there is no bus from DTD to EPCOT. You have to transfer at a resort. That is too much of a pain for me, but it seems to work for Dee! ;)

So, I am counting down the hours and getting so excited.

We leave tomorrow....see you there!! :yay:

Oh and Teena make sure you load up on good pins this weekend. I wanna steal them! :woohoo: :rotfl: I will be the crazy adult with a hip pin holder and a SLR around my neck getting giddy like a kid when I see a good pin! :rolleyes1

So that has sailed right over my head this whole time. Teena works at BC? Where at ?!? Working on SAturday?

Yup, Teena is a greeter at the Beach Club. She currently works on Sundays and Mondays, but has been told she will eventually be working Saturdays and Sundays.

Go to the last post on Page 1- Post 15, maybe- there is a picture of Teena along with pictures of her adorable grandaughter.

We are getting in late (6 pm arrival at airport) and our one room request at BC is a daybed (2 kids can't share beds).
I didn't even try requesting a full balcony since I really want the daybed. Our plan B is a rolling cot.

Does checking in late pose any possible problems in getting either the daybed or the cot?

Thanks!

If there is one available to give (and not all already taken by families booked as parties of 5), they should give you one. And while it is a late arrival, there are sure to be many more later than you that day ... or early morning. Last time we checked in at 2 am or so.

Now I've called Disney twice on this question about a daybed and needing to request one and have been told twice that I don't need to request because we have 5 people in our party and we will automatically be given a daybed. The second time I called I was asked what room category we booked and I told them garden and the person said that we will be given a daybed.

Is this true? I sure hope so.

You have booked as a party of 5 so you should be given a room with a daybed. Our friends had no problem last year. If there was not a room available, a cot would definitely be provided...at least for a night if you wanted to then switch rooms. Hoping you have a daybed room waiting for you when you arrive!

Does this apply to TL, too? I'm asking since we wanted to take a bus from TL to DTD for lunch (I know they are close, but not close enough for us to walk it).
:confused3

The bus route from the resorts includes TL on the way to DTD so that shouldn't be a problem. I would just pick any resort bus back to TL as it will stop there on its way back ... so whichever gives you the shortest wait would be my choice not necessarily the resort we were staying at.

Hey there Raenstoirm. I think what Dee does is take a transfer to a resort like Saratoga Springs of one of the Port Orleans resorts and then takes a bus to Epcot. Basically, it's implied on the original FAQ that this is not a "shorter" way to do this but rather a more "fun" way of returning. You get to see another resort and take a liesurely walk through Epcot (possibly riding a ride or two) on your way back to the resort. That's how I read Dee's post (oh and I'm going to try to take Dee's route when I go in June myself... FWIW)

I believe there are busses from TL to DTD (someone correct me, if I'm wrong).

That's it exactly! Not shorter, or quicker, but more enjoyable.

When I proposed this transportation route to my husband, he declared me a "genius". In the rare occasions when I elicit that kind of response from him, I go with it!

I always get confused with the Resort-DTD-TL route (maybe that's why I'm such a big fan of hoofing it through another resort). Does the route vary based on time of day? Like if it is morning, the bus stops at TL before (and maybe after DTD) and it reverses in the afternoon?

I honestly could never keep it straight!

And while I always hate sending folks elsewhere for an answer, your best bet may be the transportation board. And if you do get an answer you trust, please share it with us!

My family and I will be at the BC in 9 long days!! :woohoo: The last time we stayed at the BC we were in a villa bu this time we are staying in a WV room. Is there anything my family and I should know about staying in a WV room?

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes.
Things are definitely looking up and improving with my mom. Of course nobody knows why this happened but she seems to be doing a lot better and they are checking into side effects from all the medications she is taking.

Dee - have you found out where you are staying with your class trip yet?

90 days until we leave!!!!

Believe me - I can't wait to be sitting by SAB.

To everyone who is leaving soon - Have a magical trip!!!!!

Thanks! If we do go to DTD for lunch, we will probably take a cab back to the YC afterwards. But it's not easy to find one at TL to get to DTD -- I remember waiting for the buses to get to TL last time (and it was quite a wait...)

GOOD CALL!!! I hadnt even thought of that!!

But I just checked and Sci-Fi is NOT under the new $10/pp cancellation policy - and neither is 50s Prime Time...but like Brown Derby does have that disclaimer on their website..

phew..

Im going to keep looking for a later ressie..

you guys are the BEST!!!

I know that everyone else is not QUITE as obsessed with my dining plans as I am..

but since we dont land until 9:40am, and it made me REAL nervous having ADRs at Sci-Fi at 12:15pm and since it was SWW making it super busy, I sadly gave up the Sci-Fi ressie for a 1:20 at 50s PT..

dern it..and I was hoping to get to Sci-Fi - we've never made it there before...

we're going back to DHS again 3 days later, but I cant get anything at Sci-Fi either...but I'll keep trying!!

thanks for all the transportation suggestions! Since we've never taken the ME or stayed at the BC, I wasnt sure how it would all work out!!

All this talk of ME and how long it takes to get the YC/BC has me wondering...we'll be renting a car, how long will it take us to drive there from MCO?

And do we need a lunch ADR at Captain's Grille? That's where we planned on dining for lunch the day we arrive, but I was thinking maybe we didn't need an ADR - just in case our flight is delayed or something.

Hey all! I am a wee bit of a coffee snob and I was wondering about the coffee situation at BCV? I like strong and flavorful coffee. Is there anywhere not too far of a walk where I could get a good cuppa in the morning? Thanks in advance!

Hi Robyn- I'm glad to hear your mom is doing better this week, but I'm still sending extra hugs to you!

We had a chaperone meeting Tuesday night. We got a little information, but not everything I wanted to know, like what flight I am going to be on!

We are staying at All Star Movies. The only Disney resort I have stayed at other than the Beach Club is All Star Music, so I am familiar with the resort setup.

We will have 3 day park hoppers. We won't be visiting a theme park on the first day of the trip (pool time and pizza party) or the day we are leaving.

Oh, yeah, and no Grey Goose Slushie for me. Alcohol is prohibited for the chaperones as well as the kids.

There are coffee makers (Mr. Coffee type) in the villas. You could bring your own coffee and brew it there.

I haven't been following the Starbucks news to know how soon and where they are going to be in the parks, I just know they are coming.

I believe there is a coffee stand in one of the world showcase countries (maybe near UK) that sells a decent cup of coffee. It may be a cash/credit (not room charge) only stand, though, and would require that park admission to EPCOT.

There used to be a "coffee lovers thread" on the theme park board, so you could search there for suggestions.

Good luck, fellow coffeephile

Robyn, so glad your mom is doing better. (((hugs))) to you!

Still at work, trying to get stuff done, but I just said TO HECK WITH IT and I'm headed home. I don't want to get stressed out and then get sick before I go! I can't believe that we are going to be there so soon. Only two more work days!!!

I thought that might be the case -- going back to resort -- but wanted to throw it out there just in case.

I agree with the cab back from DTD. No matter where we've stayed, we always have a difficult time finding the elusive resort bus back!

And for what it is worth, I have these two numbers in my phone under "Disney Taxi" that I must have gotten somewhere on these boards -- to have on hand in case I ever needed to call my own taxi onsite ... which sounds like I would from TL!

407-422-2222
407-699-9999

Disclaimer -- I think these are both for Mears and I am not sure they are the most reliable company, but ones that run around Disney a lot.

Have a great time.

If for some reason you can't get a later ressie and you find yourself running late to BC or after check-in or whatever, you can always take a taxi over to HS. It's not very far so I don't think it would cost too much, but should be fairly quick. There are always taxi's waiting in the self-park lot at BC from what I have seen.

We check in on 5/8, surprising my DD's (11&9), they have NO IDEA!!!

Question, I will be getting up early and going to BC to check in while kids are sleeping at our timeshare offsite. Plan on checking in at 7am, should I expect lines that early in the morning? Also, how long does the check in process take??

Thanks

Hi mbtohill! We've never had much of a wait to check in at BC/YC (if any!) And that early in the morning, it's been very quiet at the front desk! Check-in process has varied based on the CM and whether we have any requests to discuss, but usually not more than 10 minutes.

Now I've called Disney twice on this question about a daybed and needing to request one and have been told twice that I don't need to request because we have 5 people in our party and we will automatically be given a daybed. Hi abk! We're a family of five, and we have been assigned to a room with a daybed every time we've stayed at BC except once (but that was a CL reservation, and the inventory there is more limited.) If you have a non-CL GV, all should be well!

I know that everyone else is not QUITE as obsessed with my dining plans as I am..

Avery&Todd, I'm late in responding, but wanted to let you know that we've taken Magical Express to BC many, many times and we usually make a lunch ADR that first day. I think your decision to move your ADR to 1:20 is GREAT - I wouldn't go any earlier than 1pm and the 1:20 will be so much more relaxing. Hope something opens up at Sci Fi for you!

Oh, yeah, and no Grey Goose Slushie for me. Alcohol is prohibited for the chaperones as well as the kids.

Dee, I was just thinking about your meeting and wondering the results. Darn on the Grey Goose Slushie! (But given my profession, I approve of the rule!)

Robyn, glad to hear about your mom's improvement. Only 90 days? Wow! I'd seriously use the APs for a July visit, but there's theater, baseball, and swim team . . . thinking about August again!
