2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Also, if the Noodle family every does resurface, may we be added for a #2 spot behind Timon & Pumba-we have several days that overlap. Any news on the poor Noodles?!

Thank you! Jen

Hi Jen! I just returned from YC and checked in with both YC and BC Bell Services and posted this a couple pages ago - it's good news!

2) The Noodles!!! I talked with both YC and BC Bell Services and they are all amused by my inquiry. YC has not seen any sign of noodles, but BC said the new noodles are there and ready for pick-up. They said that the old noodles disappeared, "but someone started it again!" They were great - such nice guys.

Just decided to change our last day breakfast ADR from 1900 Park Fair to Cape May!!! Really wanted to try Cape May, but DD had decided she would prefer the characters at GF.

After realizing how much easier it will be dining at our own resort (which will give her more shopping time at DTD before we leave), she decided we should skip 1900!!!

I have read good reviews at Cape May so I'm really excited to try it!!!

which characters are there, and are they dressed in "beach" clothes?

Nicely worded review, Robyn. But I need to ask - several comments on there are saying BC CL rooms are dated??? 2010 and 2011 comments. Would you not call them in excellent condition? I found YC to be such and don't want to be disappointed here..thoughts>

BC and YC rooms were all re-done in 2008. I know because the CL room we had that trip was brand new - no one had been in there since it was remodeled. I can't imagine why anyone would say there are dated. Dee has pictures on the first page of this thread I believe and you can see how nice they are.

They are basically the same as YC rooms - just a little different themeing and color scheme. DON'T WORRY!!!!

Hi ocalla! We were just there for breakfast on Saturday, and saw Goofy, Minnie and Donald. Yes, they are all in beach attire! Food was good - highly recommend the spinach salad that would otherwise be easy to miss - and it was very fun!

thanks Pixarmom. I LOVE YC rooms. I found them so clean and fresh and new looking which leads me to my next question. Per the allearsnet SEVERAL people stated the BC rooms were outdated. Reviews were rom 2010 and 2011 so it was after the last rehab. Thoughts on it? Are BC rooms tired as compared to YC> thanks!

Pixarmom - You are my twin sister!!!
Great review!!!!

BC will always be my favorite but I wouldn't hesitate to stay at YC ever.

They are so similar with just a few differences.

The main thing that makes us pick BC over YC is the close proximity to BC Marketplace. Even when we stay CL we still like to be able to run down to the Marketplace. One of my dd's is obsessed with the turkey and mozzarella sandwich at BC Marketplace!

So glad that you enjoyed YC so much.

We stayed BC in November (after a June YC stay). Both rooms were very nice, neither tired nor dated. No worries! :goodvibes

Thanks Pixarmom for the great comparison review!!

I know so many people ask, whats the difference? or will I like one better than the other? We definitely have a first choice, but certainly don't think less of the other if our first choice is unavailable. I like that they are both similar, but yet have their own individual flavor, if you will.

Love your DIS name - one of our family's favorite shows. We are doing the same split as you, but BLT first, for our DD's birthday. It will be our first split stay. In fact, two weeks from now we'll be celebrating at Disney.

I think it will be a great split stay - to be able to enjoy BC and the Epcot area and then being able to walk to MK. Let me know how the split works for you. Have a great trip - you are so close! :)

Thanks! YC CL is our first choice but when was unavailable in a garden view hence my taking BC CL GV and I ensured that ALLLLLLL club garden views have full balcony else I would not have agreed! :goodvibes Anxious to try it...We stayed bwi cl in 09 and I said NO RESORT could ever beat that but YC CL did! So you never know...

I feel like we are running around in the same circles. The way I see it is this...you (or me, or anyone who is choosing a WDW resort) can look up the most recent decor in a room. The term "outdated" is completely subjective and up to an individuals own taste. I think that if you see the decor and like it, you should go with it. Now "outdated" and "poor condition" are totally separate animals. A room can be "outdated" but be in excellent condition. A room can also be "updated" but have broken furniture, room features that don't work, thus "poor condition". Look at the pics...do you think you'll like it...if so, go for it. If you get a room in "poor condition", you ask for better accommodations. If you get a room that you feel is "outdated" , you just failed to do your research. Hoping that helps to ease your mind.:goodvibes

Hi Mousemommy! Oh believe me I pour over these pictures in case you can't tell yet!:rotfl2: I always loved the decor of the BC. Looks GREAT to me and i would never think of it as "outdated" at all. But when several comments list it as a con - I worry - outdated as in poor condition as you stated etc.

But I am sure it will be fine. Tricky thing staying BC or YC CL GV, there are 5 rooms! so if one doesn't suit you - there is pretty much no where else to go....But I am confident it will be fine. I liked your analogy though of outdated vs. poor condition. They are different terms but my guess is they are used interchangably and that is a good point to realize...thanks!

I tried to make ressies for Big River Grille, but it wouldn't let me, how did you do that?

Big River Grille doesn't take ADR's but if you call them directly about a month before your arrival they will make a reservation for you. 407-560-0253 is their #.

I have been reading this thread for almost a year and I am almost sure I know the answer but since this is our first BC stay, I have to ask:

BC/YC does NOT have cabanas like CR and Poly right? I saw them when we were at CR last year but since the pool there didn't excite me or the kids that much seemed like a waste. Now one at BC, that would be a completely different story but I am almost sure they don't exist.

This exactly. We just stayed BC CL last month & it was one of the most updated, sparkling clean rooms I've stayed in onsite. It was gorgeous & had a very formal feel to it. However, right before that we stayed at BVC in a studio. I had read LOTS of reviews that BCV was worn down & "outdated" - and I got there & LOVED it. Yes the decor was completely opposite - it was very laid back & beach cottage looking - but nothing was worn out or broken or faded. I'd stay at either again in a heartbeat (and I plan too!)

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Don't let a few disgruntled guests spoil it :rolleyes1.

I feel the same way. We have a preference, but when I call to make reservations I go with room category choice first (so if what I want isn't available at one, I will happily book the other). :goodvibes

Do the buses that stop at the Beach Club also stop at other resorts before proceeding to their destination.

Hey guys - just wanted to let you know that my All Ears "Rate and Review" for BC CL is up.

I never did one before but after a terrible review from BWIFAN4LIFE I couldn't just let it go!

LaurieN - so glad that it worked out for you. We really like GV CL and twice we've had great rooms that had a nice sideway view of Crescent Lake.

WELL DONE. Very positive :)

Hello, everyone! I have been lurking for a week or so, trying to catch up on this thread before posting, so as not to ask too many dumb questions. ;) However after 7+ days, I'm still only on page 41! :rotfl: I figured I might as well go ahead and join in the fun and continue to catch up over the next month or so.

I recently booked our family of four for a YC CL trip for December 1-8, 2012! This is only our second trip to Disney...first was in 2005, when DH, DS#1 and I stayed at the Sugarloaf (DS#2 tagged along in utero ;) ). I considered another Sugarloaf stay this go round, but I thought we should try something new, and I feel like the boys and their dad will enjoy the nautical theme of YC. (As will I, the Naval commander's daughter :) )

The boys are VERY excited, and I am, too! I honestly did not think it would take me seven years to get back to Disney after our first trip, but life (and hockey!) kind of got in the way. But I am READY and very excited for the planning process, which I remember as being almost as much fun as the trip last time. ;)

Thank you to those who are so helpful on this thread...your wisdom and advice is very much appreciated! Can't wait to get to know you all better!

Welcome Steph! You have made a great choice YC CL at holiday time. I totally understand the life of a hockey mom esp with the younger ones! Enjoy the thread lots of great info and posters
