2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

HI, we are scheduled to check in on May 25 around 10:00. If our room is not ready, would we still be able to use SAB?

Yes! Just pack a bag with your swimsuits and cover up and bell services will hold the rest of your luggage. The Health Club at BC has changing rooms you can use. We've done it lots of times -both before our room was ready and after we checked out on the last day.

Hey all, new to BC and all the epcot resorts in fact. DH and I always stay at MK (if you dont count tricking my dh into a mod one trip in 2007 and 1 night at a value in 2009 :rotfl:) My "goal" is to stay at every resort, but dh likes what he knows, so we tend to stay at WL at least once a year or Contemporary MK view off and on. I got an awesome last minute Ap rate for my birthday (April 30), so I told him we are staying at EPCOT and I wanna try SAB! The refurb better not be delayed!:laughing: Anyway we will be there April 27 through May 2. It was supposed to be a long weekend for my birthday, but it got a little out of hand. :rolleyes1 It is the shortest WDW trip we have ever taken though, so that's something, right? ;)

My DD is happily working on her mousekeeping envelopes right now! She is so excited! So so soon we will be at beach club!!
I am so glad I am not the only one who does that. Granted I am an adult, so it might not be as cute for the mousekeepers as a kid making it for them! :rotfl2:

Welcome To the BEST thread ever!!!

You made a very smart choice in BC/YC for your first EPCOT stay. Saying I Love it - just doesn't quite say enough.

Enjoy your "birthday" vacation

Hi Everyone! Love this thread, it has such an amazing amount of information, and looking through the pictures gets me so excited for our upcoming trip.

I am looking for a little reassurance. We always stay at the BC for our WDW vacations. Sometimes we stay concierge level, not always. This year, we decided we needed more room and opted to rent a DVC owners points and have a 2br Villa booked. The more I look through the pictures of the villas and compare them to the rooms at the BC, I am afraid I am going to be a bit disappointed in the rooms. It seems like the BCV have no where near the same luxurious feeling as the BC rooms.

Someone, please tell me I am wrong, and that I will LOVE the BCV!!!

One thing you will have in the villas as opposed to the main resort----ROOM. The balcony's, jacuzzi, 3 TV's, full size kitchen, washer/dryer, king bed. Being able to nap and grab a little private time is great.

And far as furnishings very comparable. Now far as missing CL, definitly not as pampered. Guessing with renting points you do not get housekeeping daily so it will be a falloff in that area. But still nice.

Speaking of Mousekeeping, I was planning on leaving $5 a day for the regular Mousekeeping, but when you are staying concierge, do you leave another tip for turndown service? I don't know if we will be back in the room for that... There is turndown service, right?

I just got a rhinestone Mickey case for my phone, and changed my phone background to a red sparkly Mickey pic. It looked HILARIOUS when I was using my phone to set a trial date in court today. :lmao:

MY MICKEY PUSHPIN IS ALMOST OUT OF SPACESHIP EARTH.

Is it just me, or are there comments missing? I swear I saw more comments last night, do you think it is from the work they are doing on the servers? I may be a pain and repost my question just in case! :)

I would repost it if I were you. I noticed on other threads that some seemed missing.

And by the way, that absolutely does NOT make you a pain ;)

I brought paper (Mickey shaped sticky notes) and left the mousekeeping tip with a note saying thanks, and I left a couple of bucks with a note marked "turndown" if I was going to be gone all day.

Yes, there is some funky stuff going on. I posted a reply on a trip report and a totally unrelated reply from someone else appeared instead of my comments.

Please repost your question.

I need to go back through and give an official hello to all of our new friends!

We typically leave $5 in the AM & $3 for turndown. There are only 2 of us & we straighten up after ourselves so they really don't have a lot to do. And YEAH for you almost being there!!!

I did think it was strange that there were no posts from 7PM til this morning! :rotfl2:

Where are the pictures and comments on the SAB refurb??? Come on people, let us know what's going on down there.

Arriving on 5/8 and hoping they stay on schedule. ;)

Someone, please tell me I am wrong, and that I will LOVE the BCV!!!

I stayed at both BCV (studio) and BC last month. I too was torn on the decor of both - they are completely different. I had read a lot of comments saying how the BCV were "run down" and "worn out." I have to say I LOVED BCV! Yes the feel is totally different - BC is much more new & fresh, and has an upscale luxurious feel. BCV is more of a beach cottage decor - very relaxed feel, yet I loved it. Nothing was worn out or run down. If I had to choose between the 2 decors again, I'd choose BCV.

We also toiled over villa vs. CL for the 2nd trip. We really really appreciate space, but a CL Deluxe room (much larger than a regular CL room) was the same price as a 1BR villa, so we chose CL. While we did love CL, next time we'd opt for a villa for our family.

Sounds like you have the same reservations we did! We fell in love with BCV and BC and will definitely return again, no doubt about that! We absolutely love the Epcot Resort Area and now I think have found a new "home" there.

Enjoy your trip!

As far as mousekeeping we usually leave $5 each day and $3 for turndown.

The last few years we've had the same cm for turndown - Gloria. She is fantastic. So much so that we now we actually request her if she is available. At the end of our trip we gave her an extra $20 because she is so sweet and so free with extra chocolates, extra soap anything we need.

180 days to go! So very excited especially after the day I had yesterday with WDW Reservations.

Booked everything we wanted!!!!

Big River Grille
Chef de France
The Wave (Hoping its the MNSSHP Night)
Coral Reef
Ohana
Kouzzina

Any reports on any of the above restaurants? We've only ate at The Wave but it has been 4 years since we've been at WDW and the kids are a lot older this go around.

We tried Big River Grill in 2010, and it was not something we enjoyed.

My steak was OK at best, but then I found a long plastic thing in my Mashed Potatoes.................not good!!!

I always hate to tell someone that is excited about eating somewhere any bad reviews, because it could have been just a bad night. :confused3

Enjoy planning!!!

Haven't tried any of them yet. I've still got over 2 weeks until I can make my ADR's and I'm just taking the day off so I don't have to stress about being online early and trying to get to work on time. We have Chefs on our list for this trip too.

We've been to these three....

Chef de France- food is good (not great) but on certain nights at certain seatings you get to meet "real size" Remy. LOVED that!

The Wave- We werent thrilled, but it wasnt bad

Coral Reef- love this. Good food / great atmosphere.
