2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

This will be our first BC stay. Can anyone tell me how you feel about the amount of storage in the room? We have 3 adults and 2 children and will be staying for 9 nights. DM coming this time and we really don't like to live out of our bags. We've always made it work in the past when staying at mods but there was only 4 of us. :confused3

There's not a ton of storage, especially for 5 people for 9 nights. There's a tall dresser with, I'm pretty sure, 5 drawers. There are a few smaller drawers in the TV cabinet. And there's a decent sized closet (I don't remember how many hangers there are but you could probably ask for more).

You'd probably have to give each person one drawer in the dresser and part of the closet. The problem with that is you might need more space for folded clothes as opposed to hanging clothes. One thing you could do is buy one or two of those cheap closet hanging organizer things? You know the ones I mean? They're made of fabric covered cardboard, they can collapse to flat in the suitcase but when you hang them from the closet rod, they'd give you about 8 "slots" for folded clothes. I think you can get them for less than $10. Might be worth it.

You could also throw laundry in one afternoon in the middle of the week while swimming in the pool, if you don't mind doing laundry during vacation. :laundy:

Lots of storage - we are a family of 4 - even as my boys grew we always had plenty of storage space. Typically I do pack extra hangers, but there is plenty of drawer space between the chest of drawers and the extra drawer space in the "TV" dresser. Laundry is a must for us during our week or longer stays, plenty of washers / dryers.

Depends on how much time you are going to be spending at the resort.

As far as BC's CL not being as nice as others, most people think our CLs are the best. There is a person with two DIS names that posts everywhere how horrible the BC CL is but you can't take what he says seriously.

What I can tell you is if you ask ten people that have stayed at every club level at WDW, at least one will say they did not care for it for a number of reasons ... some silly and some legit. I personally have stayed at most of them and I find the Y&B club levels really really good. I prefer them over the Boardwalk (don't like the food at night there or their breakfast as much as the Y&B), the Poly (feels worn), and definitely the Contemporary. I think the food offerings at the Y&B club levels suit me and my family much more than the other resorts - just OUR taste. We love the hard boiled eggs for breakfast and our desserts are fantastic. I really enjoyed the Wilderness Lodge's club level too and Animal Kingdom's was pretty good but I didn't think their CMs were as friendly. However, that was a good 8 years ago that I stayed at Animal Kingdom.

Is it worth the money? Depends on the number of people in your party and whether or not you are going to use it for breakfast every day and partake in the alcoholic beverages along with all the food they serve. If you are only having breakfast there and then won't be back until late every night, it might not be worth it to you.

The wonderful service from the CMs up there and the itinerary planning before hand is really nice too. For people with lots of reservations that need be made, the itinerary planners take on that whole task for you.

I'm sure you'll have loads of other people here give you their opinions.

Love the BC CL food, service and CMs :cloud9:

Well said Teena.

Storage - There were 4 of us in a room (two adults, two teenagers) in February. We had a couple of drawers that we did not use. I think you will be fine with five in the room.

We travel as a part of 5 and usually stay for two weeks. I thought the amount of storage was much better than even the Grand Floridian! There is a chest of drawers with I believe five good sized drawers. There is another low dresser with (I think) 4 medium sized drawers and two small drawers. Closets are a good size.

We NEVER live out of a suitcase - that would make me nuts! I do pack the kids things in ziploc bags (whole outfits, socks, underwear, hair accessories) so it makes it a little bit more manageable. I also pack extra hangers.

Well said Teena.

Absolutely! We even like BC CL better that GF RPC! It just feels more homey and cozy!

The evening appetizers are great and we used the breakfast offerings most days - only did a few ts breakfasts. It was so nice to be able to stop and grab a soda on the way to the pool or to take back to the room. Their homemade chips and dip in the afternoon are one of my favorites.

The cms in BC CL are really nice and always helpful.

This is the first year we are not staying CL in a long time and I can tell you that I'll definitely miss it!

Another vote for CL at BC!!! We loved it last year. It was so nice to have a bowl of oatmeal (I know, I know.....how boring) each morning for breakfast before heading out. Evening desserts after a day in the parks, and a beer or glass of wine to relax with.

I can't compare it to other CL lounges, but I can't imagine they would be better or have nicer CM's.

the only other CL I would really like to try is AKL.....problem is I can't seem to tear myself away from staying at BC :thumbsup2

Contact them, don't wait.

Thank you! I will send them an email tonight with my info :goodvibes

Also thank you everyone for your comments on the BC CL - I've read a lot of positive comments and this just makes me so much more excited for our upcoming trip :cloud9:

Decided to book a last minute trip in April--got to make good use of those annual passes! Sadly, BCV is booked for our dates, but maybe some will move to other resorts due to the pool issue and then we can get in last minute. I can hope! If not, we are at Kidani and BWV.

Nanette, did I read that you recently did such a split? Saw your quick review and could still get whole time at Kidani, do you think that is better? I wanted the BWV so I could be near the BC and see Teena!

Yes I just came home Monday... I had one night at BWV *boardwalk view* and 3 night Kidani *savannah view*. I'm just gonna say I wasn't a fan of the BWV... This could just be because I was there alone with a very swollen foot... But I wasn't a fan. I didn't care for the pool area. I do love watching people so I sat out on the boardwalk, but there was just something that wasn't for me. Kidani was nice. I loved the pool area, but that could just be because DD met me Friday night and was there with me. Solo is NOT for me. Do the split stay though and keep checking BCV something may come open and if not you'll be close and get to see what BWV's is like.. that's what I was doing just checking it out!

Okay, so far I have 2 votes for garden view.

Just for argument's sake, does the YC have better water views than the BC? It looks like the YC has more unobstructed views, but I could be entirely wrong about that.

You might be right about better, more lagoon-ish views and of course the full balconies at the YC. But I've only stayed at BC and I am 100% all about my view. It's a big part of our experience for us. I LOVE LOVE LOVE sitting on my balcony looking out at the lagoon and Boardwalk, day and night, listening to the Friendship boats, and at night the BW music and Illuminations fireworks. Seriously, on our trip in 2010 we had a full lagoon view, I took a very slow panoramic video of it on my phone, and when I'm having a bad day, no matter where I am, I play it and I feel better.

Wait, does that make me sound mentally unstable??

:)

Thanks for the storage info. I always call for extra hangers so I think between the drawer space and that we will be fine. Happy to hear there's much more drawer space then we had at the mods.

Nice to hear all the great things about CL at BC. While we've stayed at BC, we've never done CL here. We're absolutely enamored with our Poly CL staff...every time we're there, they're bending over backwards for us and other guests. The WL staff in wonderful, as well. Hadn't heard any of the bad reviews for BC CL, but always nice to hear the good ones! :goodvibes

Does anyone have a great picture of the Beach Club pool without a lot of people in it that they would be willing to PM or email me? We just redid our bathroom in a beach theme and want a pic of the Beach Club in it.
Thanks!!

Here is a trip report with some amazing photos of the Beach Club by Scott Smith. Go to page 2 and check out the night shot and PM Scott.

Off to the airport! I will have access to The DIS while down there, if I get a chance I will send some live updates!

Keep spreading the BC/YC cheer around here while I'm gone!

Teena see you Sunday with some PA goodies. My parents are coming to visit us for the day on Sunday so I'll be in the lobby waiting for them - see you then!

Marlton Mom, or anyone else-

I know that there is YC merchandise for sale at Fittings & Fairings. Is there any in the Marketplace, or is it only BC stuff there?

Thanks!
