A murder of bananas?

A Tallyman of bananas?

A passel of bananas????

Whatever size, they're all dancin' for me tonight!!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

After almost 20 years of visiting WDW, we're finally going to stay at the BC. :lovestruc :goodvibes Add us to your list. ;) We'll be staying in the BCVs in a 2BR from Oct 13-17. Wish we could have secured more days, but know we were LUCKY to get those! We're splitting w/ the AKV -CL and possibly...a TRIPLE split w/ the THV. Yeah, I'm crazy. Proud of it. :) We've done a triple split once before, but that was before we had kids. Since we plan on doing Hawaii in 2014 and not WDW, we're trying to cram in everything we WANT badly. BCV and THV were the wants. BCV gets the dubious honor of us staying there the longest. ;) We can't get our whole trip between the 2 or we'd give up all of our club level days.
THANKS to those maintaining this incredibly informative thread! << I noticed the banana is the icon of choice. :rotfl:

I saw that it was mentioned that the the BC suites have Keurigs, would anyone know if that also includes the BCV larger rooms? It should would make my hubbin happy.

We'll see if we get add-on-itus after our stay. ;) :rolleyes1

I think you are going to love it here! You have already adopted our mascot

:banana::banana::banana: are even better!

Last reports from BCV are that the studios have 4 cup Mr. Coffee type makers and the 1 BR and 2BR have 10 cup machines.

If anyone staying in the villas notices anything different, please let us know!

Another shout out to IPO - I had more changes and requests and they have handled everything so quickly and efficiently.

I'm actually in a bit of a daze today... So happy. Bananas with limbs happy. :rotfl: I have a family wedding today with the family we are traveling with so we will have some extra time together, with the kids too... Of course there is also sure to be some drama with other family members! One person is mad I didn't include her family, but I mentioned it to her DH multiple times and he said he would rather gouge his eyes out than go to Disney. I think the words were "No $&@$&$@ way." so shoot me for not pursuing it!!!!

Our vacation starts in 3 weeks and I just find out the slide at BC is going to be closed our whole trip. To say I am upset is an understatment. We mainly picked this resort because of the pool. I have longed to stay at the BC. And now I finally get to and the slide is closed. We even bought our DD a waterproof camera to take on the slide. I only wish they would have posted this refurb a bit earlier. I would have saved this resort for our trip later this year. I know we're still going to have a great time. We're going to WDW after all when we weren't suppose too. Just venting for a moment.

The way MM handled her situation is the way we should all handle situations. If it's a housekeeping issue, call housekeeping and tell them you need to speak with a housekeeping manager. Period end. And if after speaking with a housekeeping manager, you don't get total satisfaction, ask to speak to the housekeeping manager's boss. Mistakes and mishaps happen. Unfortunately we don't have inspectors that go around and check each room after the room has been cleaned every day. I sure wish we did!!! I had a guest check into a room that was totally wrecked. The housekeeper that cleaned it after the last guest left, cleaned the room but didn't call and report various MAJOR room maintenance issues. I think a herd of gorillas stayed in that room ... the amount of damage was unbelievable. The housekeeper marked it clean and ready for the next guest so that poor guest was checked into a clean room but a clean room in horrible condition. That room should have been put out of order immediately. Things happen everywhere. No place is perfect. But whether you are in a Motel 6 or at the Four Seasons, you should have a decent clean room. Rooms show wear and tear obviously and especially at WDW where there are loads of children. However, if it is more than the normal wear and tear and your room is not clean the way it should be, then let us know immediately and if it is not taken care of within a reasonable amount of time, go a step higher until it is taken care of. What happened to woodleygrrl I'm sure has happened and probably alot worse to other guests at all the other resorts too. It should never happen but it does. But thank goodness it's the minority and not the majority of experiences.

We had our worse experience at WDW as far as housekeeping at the Grand Floridian. I still love the Grand Floridian and even though that one visit was a housekeeping disaster, we went back the following year. It was just bad luck that we got the housekeeper that obviously didn't care about her job. We reported everything and it was eventually all fixed. It started with our throwing back the bedspread to jump into bed and find sheets with bloody stains on them (dark). Then the toilet leaked and the shower drain was messed up so that ugly brown (need I say more) stuff came bubbling up from it. Holy cow ... what a bad start. It took a few phone calls before it was all fixed. But I know it was just bad luck. I figured it wouldn't happen the next time we were there and it didn't.

MM handled her situation perfectly. Just remember, most of us CMs at WDW want you to have a wonderful vacation and will move heaven and earth to make it happen. I truly believe that.

I agree with the bolded above. Thankfully, these types of things are in the minority vs. the majority; otherwise we'd see posts on the DIS all of the time of people bragging about what a great room and housekeeping they had like that was something out of the norm. Sadly, though, there is going to be someone who falls into the bad luck category, and it sucks if it happens to be you.

Teena -- Your GF story is nightmarish! :scared1: However, I'm like you in that I'd chalk it up to bad luck, not a reflection on the resort as a whole.

I totally get your upset! Im sure if you have another trip planned later you can change your reservation if it is that important. Have you called to see what your options are? As other people have posted, SAB without the slide is still better than any other pool and you will still have a great time, but if I wanted the slide and knew I had another trip planned soon when the slide would be open, I'd probably check out options.

My kids were so disappointed to hear about the BTMRR closure during our trip I would have changed dates if we weren't traveling with other people. They rode it over and over last trip and asked how much it would cost to build it in our back yard. Then their next favorite ride, TT, is also closed during our visit. But we will still have a ball, and we are just concentrating on all the other awesome stuff to do. And hoping against hope for a BTMRR soft opening!!!! LOL

Just wanted to offer you some hugs. The last three lines of your post stood out to me - you are a positive person with a heart of gratitude. You are going to have an AMAZING vacation with an attitude like that. Hoping pixie dust will cover every aspect of your trip.

So, (drum roll please) I MADE MY LAST PAYMENT. :cool1:

I think this deserves a banana.

 CONGRATULATIONS!!

Hey, I know I am going to get flamed for this, but at over $400/night I expect a bit more from our hotel room.
Zero flaming. You tried to resolve the situations, and a variety of individuals dropped the ball multiple times. And on a 7 night stay? No excuses. As a guest, you absolutely deserve better. Will watch for an update.

Hi Milmore, we'll be at YC soon too! Here are some excerpts from my earlier posts:

We stayed at BC at the end of the slide closure/partial pool closure of February 2011. We didn't find it disruptive, and we would absolutely stay there again during a slide closure (see my post from the previous page, below.) In fact, we will! We'll be at YC next month during the closure and as I said earlier, don't believe it will impact our stay much. And if your family loves slides, the slide at BWI is quite fun! As Marlton Mom mentioned, I see it as a great pool-hopping opportunity.

For those who may have joined the conversation recently, I also wanted to offer some encouragement, share that we had personal experience with the slide closure last year (February 2011) and emphasize how much we still enjoyed the pool and our stay. And during our most recent BC stay (August 2011) we spent nearly the entire day at SAB. The jib slide was open that day and as much as our boys love it, they only went down it three times and spent the rest of the day in other areas of the pool. There is just so much pool to enjoy! During our YC stay next month, I plan to spend the afternoon at SAB with our youngest son. Based on our experience at SAB (with and without slide closures), I really don't feel the jib slide closure will impact us much.

I've taken many SAB photos over a number of trips last year (mostly in August) and like Teena said, it might help to review the photos to see how much of SAB is available to enjoy!

SAB Photo Thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2790323

Also wanted to add that we have a waterproof camera, and our boys use it to video their trips down the BWI slide. While they prefer the jib slide at SAB, they really enjoy the BWI slide and think the BWI slide is better with the camera. That's because it's open all the way down, so you can see the entire video clearly. The jib slide is enclosed part of the way, so the video goes dark for a while. As a result, they don't do videos/photos on the SAB jib slide. Hope that helps a little!

It's funny because we've only had two "bad" experiences in all our trips to Disney and they were both at the GF!

First one - housekeeping was doing a really bad job. We were there for two weeks and tried to handle it various ways. At first we left little notes for mousekeeping - after that we called housekeeping services - still nothing. Finally DH went down to talk to someone. They got a supervisor to come and check out our room and they agreed very poor service. They scheduled us for VIP cleaning the rest of the vacation. I don't know what that entailed (or even if they just said it to pacify us) but the rest of the trip mousekeeping was much better.

Second time - first room they gave us the carpet was soaked! Went back to the desk and they gave us another room - carpet soaked with fan blowing. We couldn't just wait it out because dd has asthma and smell from the carpet cleaner already had her coughing. Finally got a room with dry carpeting - I think we paid for that though, it was probably the room with the worse view in all the GF - facing the pool building with a metal pipe sticking out of the ground directly in front of our patio!

Now we did many, many trips to the GF without any problems. Never had problem at BC, YC or the Poly. Unfortunately nothing is perfect so I would say just let the supervisor know and try to handle it nicely!

I'm also sorry to hear about your disappointment! I'm glad you felt comfortable venting here.

Did you get one of the disposable cameras or a regular, digital, waterproof camera? If it is not one of the disposables, make sure you purchase a floating strap for it. Around $6-7 on Amazon. AND DO NOT OPEN THE BATTERY/SD door when the camera is wet.

I have had Olympus Toughs and a Canon Powershot D10 and I love having a camera I can take into pools, waterslides, wet rides like Kali and snorkeling.

Arrgghhh! I feel sooooo bad for you!:sad1:

Our upcoming stay at BCV in September is primarily due to SAB. Based on the ages of our kids, we wanted to visit THIS year while they are still young enough to really appreciate it.:yay:

Of course there are numerous other reasons why I am excited to stay at BCV: overall theming and decor, proximity to EPCOT and DHS, and dining options....But you gotta admit, SAB and the slide are HUGE draws!!::yes::

:grouphug: I feel your pain - we're in the same boat (looks like we're getting there around the same time). I'm anxiously waiting for more information on exactly what portion of the pool is going to be closed. Really keeping my fingers crossed that it's just the exit area of the slide.

What a very nice board. People here are very friendly. I have never visited this board before as I have never stayed on this side of the Boardwalk. I am enjoying this thread. Penny:goodvibes
