2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thanks for all of the posts on the ME reviews. Looks like 1 1/2 hours is the standard to get from the airport to the YC. I'll chat with DW but I think I would rather push our departure day by one day than cough up almost $200 in transportation. :thumbsup2

What is the biggest difference between YC and BC? We are booked at YC waterview because we want to take a chance at getting a view of the Epcot fireworks from our room. Are there rooms that can see them? :confused3

Thanks!!

Quick question: will Concierge be able to give us our annual passes or do we still need to go to guest relations at one of the parks? We have the vouchers and just need to turn them in for our passes. Never stayed club level before so wasn't sure what all they can do. Thanks in advance. 12 more days until i'm at BC. Woohoo!

I would say the main difference is the theme/decor and that at the YC all the rooms have full balconies/ while at the beach there are some rooms with balconies but they are not full balconies.

I would think from the yacht club you may be able to see the fireworks from fantasmic (which is minimal fireworks) than illuminations.

My last trip I stayed at YC and had a waterview. Our room overlooked the gazebo and straight out to the lighthouse. We couldn't see fireworks from either Epcot or DHS.

So question: For all you BC/YC vets out there, is it realistic to eat breakfast at the Captain's Grille at 7:30 and be done in time to either catch the bus to the MK in time for rope drop, or the boat to DHS in time for the same? We're quick eaters, so I guess the question really boils down to whether it's realistic to leave the YC at about 8 am to make rope drop at the MK or DHS.

(Edited to add: on days when those parks open at 9 am)

When we ate at CG in the mornings the place was empty (which was good). DH had the buffet and I ordered off the menu. Food came fast, but it would help if you already know what you'll be ordering and then ask for the check when you get your order, (one day we had to wait 15 minutes for her to come back with the check), but really you might be "close" but you should make it.

I never commented on the ME, but we loved it when we took it. The little 30 minute video gets you in the spirit and pulling up to the other resorts are just fun to look at. The "motor coach" driver is fun too. DH is very excited about going on ME this trip.

We stayed at BC and had a GV room and could see Illuminations through the trees at night. I mean it wasn't a perfect view, but it was still nice to have that every night while back at the resort.

Hi great thread I'm addicted! Strange question is there any room under the beds in the YC to store suitcases? We stayed for 3 nights last time and I can't remember what I did with them, as there will be 4 of us inc dd18 months and 4 suitcases this time for 2 weeks- space will be premium!

Stayed BC but pertty sure they're the same.

They're on platforms if I remember correctly. So no underbed storage, but there's a pretty nice sized closet, and I had stuff between the wall and the daybed or the dresser and the daybed, can't remember which.

I seem to remember that the daybed had decorative wood under it and you couldn't put anything under it either.

I've heard that this can be done at the concierge desk now. Just started in the last year. Last year when we renewed we walked over to guest relations at International Gateway. About a five minute walk from BC.

Hi. First time on this thread. Great info. Thank-you. DH surprised me with a envelope this weekend that contained tickets to Disney and a stay at BC CL for May 11-14/12. We have never stayed at BC and only once at CL at CR (which was a surprise upgrade when we arrived). I know only 4 days but at least it is Disney and he planned it all himself. Now he realizes what goes into a trip.
Anyway.
We are arriving at MCO about 10 am, using ME, and I was wondering what is the possibility of our room being ready and if not, is there somewhere in CL that we can leave our luggage and head to Epcot?
Also where are the CL rooms at BC? I am confused as I have seen reports that they are on the 4th floor and on the 5th.

Not sure if the room would be ready but when we stayed CL at BC, they checked us in, took our luggage and gave us the KTTW cards and we left for Epcot to eat. Disney texted us our room number while we were eating lunch so we headed right back. The CL staff paged a bellman and our luggage was dropped off within 10 minutes.

I've been researching this for our next trip and everything I have found says that concierge at the resorts can only sell a NEW annual pass. They cannot activate a voucher though. I defintely would like to hear from someone who knows from experience though.

:welcome:

Very possible that your room could be ready. We landed around 10 am both times we stayed CL at BC (July 2009 and July 2010) and both times our rooms were ready when we checked in. We were thrilled!!!

I am not sure if there is a place on the 5th floor for your luggage, but I'm guessing they would take care of your bags if the room wasn't ready.

Regular CL rooms are all on the 5th floor. Deluxe Rooms are on other floors, so it sounds like you will be on the 5th floor, the same floor with the lounge.

Congrats on a GREAT suprprise from DH - he sounds like a keeper!

We stayed BC CL 2 weeks ago & checked in around 10am. Our room wasn't ready so we stowed our bags with Bell Services (across from the Front Desk). We checked in at the Front Desk, maybe if you check in on the 5th floor at the lounge they will handle the bags for you. We went to the lounge & hung by the pool until the room was ready, which was about 2pm. You can certainly get your keys & head out to a park if you want, they'll text/call you when the room is ready.

Yes all regular CL rooms are on the 5th floor, same as the lounge. The Deluxe CL rooms & suites are on other floors.

Sorry if I'm rambling, just had my wisdom teeth extracted today & I'm not feeling "quite right" LOL!

Am I the only one hoping for a live report & pictures of Storm Along Bay?

When I got there at 9:30 AM this morning it was totally drained and they are busy working. They are working 12 hour days. Hot tubs at SAB are ALL working.

Today is the day portions of SAB close. If anyone has access to current pics of the closures, just so we will know what it looks like during our trip, please post them here! Thanks. Any reports of what the area looks like, construction noise etc appreciated also. We just want to know what to expect so we aren't surprised by it!

Noise was very very slight every time I walked out back today.

If your room is not ready, you store your bags with the bellmen. You can get to it if you need to throughout the day. There is no storage on the fifth floor where the lounge is.

Wishing you nothing but a wonderful trip to BC this month!

I understand the creature of habit ... than can be my DH. Once he finds a spot, he's comfortable and wants to keep doing the same thing over and over because it is what he knows he likes.

His favorite for some time was POR and he couldn't see why we'd pay more than that because it was such a good value for the money. I am one to try new places, see what is out there. Sometimes it worked out (enjoyed the WL a couple of times) and sometimes not (Poly ended up not being for us).

Of course, now I am in the creature of habit mode with BC!

This summer will be our 6th stay since 2008. We love it there and it meets all our needs right now with 2 kids aged 12 & 10. My mom loved it just the same and has stayed twice, and can't wait to go back again.

I would suggest, though, a room request near the lobby if POFQ has been FIL's favorite. I am sure he enjoys the convenience of a smaller resort so placement near the lobby would give him that feeling. Quicker access to the busses and boat dock. Closer to the Marketplace & SAB. The walk to Epcot will increase by a few minutes, but walking through the hallways & out by room 1501 will keep you cool and out of the heat if needed.

Also when walking over to BC, take the pathway down by the river instead of having to climb the hill. Walkway is just before the hill, past the turnoff to Boardwalk. Makes it even easier and one less thing to complain about.

Have a great time with the all grandparents!

Thanks for your well wishes. I will keep the proximity to the lobby in mind. I'm sure FIL will love the resort and forget why he was ever worried. FIL is a very, very early riser. When I quiz him about what he likes about POFQ he tells me that he likes sitting on a bench early in the morning by the river and watching people jogging by and the resort waking up. Now he can watch the entire boardwalk, lake etc. wake up. DH and I stayed at the BWI years ago and we found so much to see and do around the lake.

Okay BC experts, what do you think my chances are of receiving a full balcony and a daybed?

We have 3 rooms booked and I figured chances were good of at least one having a full balcony. Now that I study the photographs of the BC ( which I do obsessively), however, it looks like connecting rooms and rooms on the same floor all have the same balcony configuration. I guess we either hit the jackpot with 3 rooms with full balconies on the same floor, or we all wind up with standing balconies. Is that right, or are there standing balcony rooms next to full balconies? Our first priority is connecting rooms, with the third close by.

I see full balconies on the top floor, but those rooms seem to be smaller dormer rooms that wouldn't accommodate a daybed (we'd like one of the rooms to have a daybed for my DD). Is there a particular floor that has more daybeds?

I'm trying to prioritize my wishlist, because I know it is unlikely we will get everything we are hoping for.

Thanks for your help!

Hot tubs at SAB are ALL working.

Oh Yay!!!!!!!! Teena, you don't know how that one little nugget of information has made me so happy! We are a hot tub family (along with a pool family).

Does anyone know if there are age limits for the hot tubs?
