2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

If you're looking for substantial snacks & drink all day long, you won't find them at BC CL. We were there last month, and from about 11am-4:30 all that is offered are sodas, the coffee machine (there are hot cups to take it to go), yogurt-covered pretzels, swedish fish & potato chips. It was the same thing every day, and nothing you could make a meal out of (for us anyway). There was no bottled water available at any time of day or night for the entire time we were there. Maybe you have to ask for it, but I didn't see anyone with any in the lounge or leaving the lounge with it at any time. The days we spent afternoons at the hotel we still had to buy lunch somewhere.

So just FYI, the CL lounge was great, and we loved the breakfast there, but if you're looking to get afternoon snack/drink value out of $1K extra for CL, you're going to be disappointed!

Thanks for your input. I do realize I'm paying more for convenience and not a meal replacement. Would you use the service again or no?

As long as we can afford it, we wouldn't go on a Disney trip without Club Level! The convenience of snacks, the safe feel of restricted access to the floor, the helfulness of the staff with anything and everything you might need was worth the extra money for our family. P.S. we are big eaters in the parks (love the Signature dining) so we barely utilized the food offerings aside from the snacks and drinks out during the day, but still worth it for us.

My Dh won't stay in a deluxe unless it is Club Level. He feels the diff between a mod and deluxe standard stay is not worth the extra cost. We stay club as well. I don't think I would be near as interested in BC or YC without it....

Is it just me that gets unnaturally stressed out right before we go? We are flying out on Friday morning (spending two nights around SeaWorld before checking into BC on Sunday), and I swear I'm about to jump out of my skin. Yes, I'm excited, but the excitement sometimes gets swallowed up in the stress. Please tell me I'm not the only one :)

I am probably not going to be able to even think of starting to pack until Wednesday -- I'm off to a hospital appt now with my youngest, and we have medical appts the next two days eating up our time. Perhaps that's contributing to the stress.....

Just tell me I'm not some sort of freak (perhaps you can't!). I see everyone post about how excited they are, and I am, but then the waves of stress roll in.

Oh well, I know we will get there just fine (and I will be up half the night before packing, as usual). I just wish I could click my heels three times on Friday morning and be there, with my children, packed perfectly :)

BC here we come! (I know, I should get off here and start preparing!)

you are definitely not the only one - every trip I get so concerned that something will happen and it will all go wrong. Not even excited when the plane lands. My family laugh at me because I don't chill out until we go under the WDW sign - I always say I could walk to our resort from there if the DME broke down.

Ironically I am generally the optimist of the house but I think there is so much money and planning that I go mad with worry near the trip :confused3

We too are a party of five and last summer we stayed At BC and were given a room without a daybed, they offered us a rollaway cot, the room we were given had an angled dormer feel (was a CL room) and a cot would have left no walking room... They did move us, but had to move us off the CL floor which was a little inconvenient ... So can't hurt to ask for one....

Just called Disney again to ask one more time and I was assured that we would have a room with a daybed. She asked what type of room we booked and said yes we will have a daybed. So maybe it depends on the type of room category.

We're the same way! I dunno if I could stay in a deluxe resort knowing the lounge was so close and I couldn't get to it :rotfl: :rotfl2: We really enjoy staying CL, but feel the same about a regular room vs. a moderate. DH enjoys CL very much. We normally prefer CL or a 1BR villa, but some trips we do moderate.

In 3 weeks we're splitting POR-Royal Room and YC/CL!!

I've been researching this for our next trip and everything I have found says that concierge at the resorts can only sell a NEW annual pass. They cannot activate a voucher though. I defintely would like to hear from someone who knows from experience though.

I'll try it next Saturday and report back!

Also this is our first time visiting with my daughter(6 months). I chose the hotel primarily for its proximity to Epcot and Hollywood and the ability to simply walk her back after a few hours. Would the club level provide enough continence through out the day seeing as we may be at the resort quite a bit? I'm conflicted as to if we should spring the extra $1k total for our trip. I just think my wife, nanny and myself would really benefit from the snacks, drinks. Is there an abundance of bottled water? Could I simply take 4 bottles of water and leave the lounge no questions asked?

When my youngest was an infant we stayed CL at the CR. I did appreciate having someplace to send DH and my older daughter while I was trying to get the baby to sleep. It was nice to be able to grab something quick for breakfast too. It was nice, but it didn't cut down on our meals in restaurants. I also seem to remember sending my husband out on numerous errands to the stores and QS in the lobby even with the lounge!

The lounge offerrings are never worth the price tag, but I was willing to pay for convenience when our kids were little. I don't think I'd bother now.

I've noticed that the BC CL rooms seem to be the dormer rooms on the top floor. They are smaller than the other rooms, I think, and will leave you with less room for your crib.

There is also fruit all day and various cookies (sooooo good). They do not have bottled water in plastic carry away bottles. There is always large bottled water out (two types) so you can take a glass of if you want. If you want large bottles for your room, just ask and they will give them to you. However, you can't take them to the pool in the bottles since they are glass bottles.

LOL about the cookies. My ds is obsessed with those cookies! I on the other hand, am obsessed with the homemade chips and dip!!

If you can afford it BC CL is fantastic!

This year is the first year that we will be doing a non-CL room at BC. DH's business took a hit last year so that's that. (Thankfully things seem to be back on track this year, so hopefully next year we'll be right back where we love - CL). I won't lie I know I'll miss that CL Lounge but we are definitely thankful we are going to be able to get to BC at all.

We think the CL offerings are great. We usually do most of our breakfasts there, stop by for a quick snack and some sodas to take to the pool in the afternoon, and we like the evening appetizers so that we don't have to rush to dinner. We usually don't even make our dinner ADRs until 7 or 7:30. DH likes being able to grab a beer or a glass of wine.

Of course if a really good discount comes out - who know? Maybe we'll get to BC CL after all!!!!

Count us in as having a positive CL experience!!!

Dare I say it again..............loved the oatmeal and toppings in the morning.

Staff was super friendly, drinks at night after a long evening in the parks were great!!

and as I have said before, DD14 loved using the "key card" in the elevator :rotfl2:

Hope to stay CL again sometime in the future.

And one last thing 45 Days!!!

We have decided to go ahead and give SWW a try!! We are going to make that a first day/early morning visit.

I feel pretty sure that I will need a VERY LARGE drink by the time we get out of that crowd, but I think I can find one back at BC!!! SAB will be a life saver that day.

What time do the boats head to DHS during SWW??

We went to SWW on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend two years ago and honestly didn't think the crowds were all that bad. :confused3 We loved the "show" that they do before opening with the Storm Troopers and thought that the parade was great. Other than that, we mainly did rides and watched some of the characters, but didn't stand in line for them. It wasn't any worse than most other crowds, we didn't think. We got to ride everything we wanted at least once and saw the morning parade. There was not a Fantasmic showing that night, so that probably helped crowds for us. Not sure what the schedule is this year, as we aren't going to be there Memorial Day this year and aren't planning to hit SWW this June at all.

Hi everyone. I cannot thank you enough for this thread. I read it ALL the time, but am quite shy so I tend to not post much.

I do have a question though. We are to arrive in just over 2 weeks. We have had this trip planned since September, and were going to keep it a surprise from the kids until the day of, but we decided to tell them for Easter.

Last time we went we stayed at POP. This time we are doing one night at POP and 9 at BCV. My girls (9 and 5) were really disappointed when they heard we were not staying at POP again the whole time.

I have showed them pictures of the SAB, but what other things can I do to get them excited about the BC? That sounds really bad. I mean they are so excited for this trip, they both cried with excitement and keep saying, "hey mom, guess what? Only __ sleeps until Disney." I don't want you to think they are spoiled brats or anything :)

I have the Albatross Cruise booked for them one day, and a breakfast at CMC on our departure day, but would like to keep some surprises :)

Are there any other little tips, hints, cool things I could show them to help get them excited....I wonder if maybe they aren't just nervous about it being "new" rather than something they are familiar with, ie POP....they are a worrisome two.

Anyways thank you all so much!

We are doing SWW this year, too (4th weekend). We plan on spending the whole day there (maybe take a break back at the resort, but I'm not sure). Fortunately, that will be our first full day there and our only commando day. Taking it easier this year.

That's good to know. Fantasmic is showing the night we'll be there, BUT it's also showing every other day that week, too (except for one day), so I'm hoping that it doesn't have too much of an effect. It's our only HS day (we're going to US/IOA this year, so we only have so much time in WDW), so I'm hoping to still be able to ride/see everything else that's not SWW related. We shall see.

Getting more excited by the day -- only 58 days to go!

Movies on the beach each night

Campfire/Marshmallow roast on the beach

Sandy area at the pool at SAB

Walking into EPCOT--pull up the Beach Club on Google Earth or similar map and look at how close you will be to EPCOT!

Riding the boat to Studios

Watching the Illuminations fireworks from the bridge that goes over to the Boardwalk area

You could rent one of the Surrey bicycles from the Boardwalk area and ride around crescent lake together

Ice cream cones from Beaches n Cream to go when you're at SAB (one of the best uses of a DDP snack credit!)

Meeting Teena, one of Disney's best and nicest CMs!!

Hope you have a wonderful trip!!

Cindy

Since it hasn't been posted in a while and we have some new folks. Here's a nice aerial map of the YC/BC. Have fun!

oooh oooh thank you - I've never seen this before - its way better than google earth. :thumbsup2

EDIT - I feel a bit queasy now - too much use of the spinny tool thingy! Its very strange turning the hotel around and waiting for it too catch up!

OMG Teena the cookies! I forgot about the cookies!!!! (I"ll blame it on the Percocet....:thumbsup2) And I did carry out a banana once or twice.

We took water & ice out in a take out coffee cup if we were headed to the pool. The insulated cups helped it stay cold longer than a bottle would have anyway, but not very convenient because they're not spillproof.
