2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thanks Pixarmom! We will check out the Karmel case too! Usually I am too hot when walking around WS (and strictly thinking margarita or grand marnier slushie. OK, lets face it, I am thinking both since they are on opposite ends of WS). But, in the name of research :rolleyes1, I will check out the caramel pecan bars too!! And I think I read something about key lime pie at Sunshine Seasons too  I can feel my waistband tightening just typing this...

My two favorite threads merging!

In March 2012 and March 2011, I saw 3 types of cupcakes at the Beach Club Marketplace:

Red Velvet at the Marketplace?! SO EXCITING!!!

Best Aunt, I think I love you... :flower3:

I now have a mission whilst at the BC this September; I will be trying the German Chocolate and the Red Velvet. Cupcakes and the BC will make me wish away my summer.

I promise to check out the current BC cupcake situation and report back in a few weeks time!

While I am at it, Dee, any requests for pictures this time around? And I promise it won't take 6 months to post them this time :flower3:

I can hardly believe I'm only two weeks away from my long-awaited trip with my sis- Beach Club here we come! I have booked the Around the World Segway tour as a surprise for her. We have to be at the front entrance to Epcot by 7:30, so we will need to take a taxi, as the IG will not be available that early. What time do you think we should get the taxi? I have no idea how long of a drive it is from BC to Epcot's front gate. Also, not sure if there will be taxis ready and waiting at that hour, or will I need to get the concierge to call one for me? Thanks!

:rotfl:

We had the Oreo one too and thought it was very average (and DS said the Oreo was soggy!!) I liked the Red Velvet at Starring Rolls (ALOT) but DH and DS split the Butterfinger and were underwhelmed. Captain Cooks has a Mango something or another that sounds promising that we may check out on our Kona night (In the name of research of course :rolleyes1) but I was curious if there was anything closer to where we are staying in case I am too full to get back to our room without the assistance of a luggage cart! :rotfl2:

You must mean Mango / Kiwi!!! I read that on a dining review by a recent BC guest. I can't wait to try it!! I plan on stopping by Captain Cooks on the night we have Kona :)

I LOVE Key Lime Pie!!! Let me know if you decide to try it......I'll add it to my list of "I shouldn't, but who am I kidding...."

Never fear! Just take that caramel pecan bar to go and store it in your room for later. It doesn't require refrigeration, but it CAN get stuck to the wrapping on top. Don't worry - if you stick it in the fridge, the wrapping will peel right off and you can enjoy it - either cold or room temp. As you can tell, I've given this a lot of thought - probably even more thought than the whole grey goose slushie in the refill mug deal! I have more to say about care and transportation of caramel pecan bars, but I really should stop . . .

Do not be alarmed if the top sticks to the wrapping- CHECK! :thumbsup2

Taxi will be waiting out front for the quick ride over but I would be out catching it at around 7:10 to be safe. Keep the receipt and give it to concierge to get a room credit.

Teena should be returning today, is that correct?

I bet it was hard to leave Jeanne and Princess Lily!!!

I've been drooling over the Show Me the Cupcakes thread on the restaurant board. (The perils of a low carb diet )

Seems like the Poly, BW Bakery etc have some new YUMMY looking cupcakes. Does the BC Marketplace have anything good?

If anyone wants to drool with me! :rotfl2:

You had to bring that thread up, huh? I've seen it and have avoided looking at for weeks... until today. Thanks :headache: :rotfl:

Also wanted to mention that mmmears is a HUGE help in Alaska planning -thanks for all the PM advice today!

As much as I love BC Marketplace, my dessert source is the Karamell Kuche in Epcot. When I help friends and family plan trips, they pay me in caramel pecan bars. :) The caramel pecan bars are seriously huge, but I cut them in quarters and eat a quarter at a time. (OK, last month I ate a half once - they are just amazing!) One of my favorite pixie dustings was when Jackie in BWI CL heard that I love them, but I couldn't buy any because we were staying at BWI and BC pre/post-cruise and didn't have park tickets. So she got TWO of them for me and then refused to let us pay for them. Love Disney!

You are very welcome -- I'm happy to help. Since we were on one the earlier cruises it was really hard not having people on the boards who could answer my questions.

OK -- you, too! Now I'm going to have to check out that place. Caramel-pecan bars sound delicious! I don't think that shop was open the last time I was in WDW.

Nothing comes to mind right now, but let me think about it.

If you happen to be in the BC Marketplace when they have the cupcakes out, maybe snap a picture of them in their natural element.

And sample one or two.

For research purposes, only, of course!

Based on pixarmom's obsession with the caramel pecan bars, I am determined to check out the Karamell Kuche shop in a couple of weeks during my trip with the teens. I have even come up with the title of my TR chapter for this escapade...

"Braces be D*mned, We're Going to Germany!!!"

@ocalla- yes, Teena returned home today.

We will be there the same time ast you -- 6/4 - 6/8! Look for us it would be fun to meet a DISer there. I'll be the happy chunky lady with the tall sexy hubby and my BFF :) (oh an apparently I am loud!:lmao::lmao:)

Those are my dates! Look for the short, alcohol-deprived gal surrounded by 8 teenaged boys who tower over me, one in particular who will be doing everything he can to pretend doesn't know me.

Oh, and you'll have to look for me in the parks, I'm over at All Star Movies for this trip.

Getting excited for our trip. 100 days away. Should I request a room with a day bed when they already know their will be 5 people?:confused3

Are all of your guests over age 3?

My understanding is that parties of 5 (that means all guest over age 3) get priority placement for rooms with daybeds. You have to be given a room that will sleep everyone who booked!

Sorry I missed this special occasion Mike... yesterday was surgery day on my foot just getting around to reading the boards. My broken 5th metatarsal never healed properly so I'm now hoping the two screws they put in to hold the bones together works out :confused3. Back to couch bonding for 4-6 weeks popcorn::

Congrats on the 1,000 posts.. thats a lot of posts!!!

~Nannette

Feel better and heal quickly. Can we expect to enjoy your company here while you recover?

Does anyone know how many king bed rooms are located in CL? The woman from IPO suggested I put that as my request instead of for a daybed since we're only a party of 3. Just curious if how slim our chances are... (I know it's never a guarantee anyway.)

I don't really know the exact answer, but there are not many. Maybe 2 or 3 in club level at the BC.

And you must not forget to complete the tri-fecta of frozen drinks around WS with a Frozen Bacardi Mojito from the Refreshment Port.

The best key lime pie I've had was at Shula's in 2010. No bright green pie here ... just the real stuff. YUM!

@focusondisney---YAY you are in your Happy Place! are you club level? what view? how far is "as far from the lounge as possible"? we hit the road in 15 days, and check into YC in 17 days, so now I am wondering if I should request a room close to the lounge or just wish for anniversary pixie dust.

!!!

We are club, lagoon view. Down 2 long hallways to our room & only 2 from the end. It is very quiet which we prefer. When you're this far away, not that many people walk past your room! We don't go back & forth to the lounge much, so it really doesn't bother us much.

We haven't been impressed with the lounge offerings this trip. Nothing really appealing to us. Raspberry & Brie croquets, crab rangoons, bacon wrapped scallops. Lounge not busy when we've been there. Always a seat available. Parks busy & no rain today!! Stormalong Bay was great as always. Busy but not crowded at all. Downtown Disney was nuts!! Wall to wall people. Wanted a Doundy' Bourke purse but couldn't find the 1 I wanted. Oh well. Maybe next time!

I also stalk the cupcake thread. It is a serous weakness for me. My goal is to lose a few lbs. before the trip so I don't feel so guilty about all the cupcakes I am bound to try :rolleyes1
