2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

natebenma -- Thanks for posting the photos from Atlantis! They brought back memories from our day there when we cruised with DCL. Glad you had a fun trip!

See ya there...we arrive tomorrow as well! It
will be our first stay at the Beach Club...staying in a studio at BCV!

Thanks again to all who contributed to this thread. I haven't posted much but I do read this thread. So excited to stay here!!

Yay! Hope you have a great time!!! BC is a really fun resort!
PS -- love your name. ;)

Sorry for making this extra work for you, but could you please change our resort to the YC CL.

We've always stayed at the BC but this time we have decided to try a new resort...as you can see we are not moving very far because we just love the BC that much and can't bear to leave the area. It's just my sister and I on our annual reunion holiday, leaving husbands and kids at home but already I'm trying not to have second thoughts on our change in resorts...

Thanks so much for making the change.

I think my post got lost in the shuffle so I'm bumping it up! If you could make the change, that would be great.
So glad you had a great trip. I loved reading all about it. Also glad you got your luggage!!! :goodvibes
Thanks again.

Thanks so much for the pictures!!! Someone had mentioned about the rocking chairs in a her trip report (think it was eandesmom/Cynthia) and that intrigued me. Looks like you discovered a hidden jewel of seating options!

BTW- you are being summonsed over at the BC Marketplace thread- someone has a condiment question (butter)

Hi Dee! Happy to provide a few extra photos, and proud of our 5-year-old saying, "Mom, take a picture of the bus stop!" Got the condiment question - thanks for letting me know!

And those Atlantis photos are great! Two things came to mind immediately: 1) How truly wonderful that first photo of Nate and Ben really is - you must love that one; and 2) I am not showing our boys any of those photos until we have committed to booking an Atlantis trip - they would love it!

We arrive tomorrow AM, our first stay YC/CL. So relieved that SAB is fully operational, we decided on YC instead of GF (due to construction) because of SAB. We have a GV/CL room, I have read that there are not many and was wondering if any of them have day beds. I know they are just a request and reserved for parties of 5. We are used to having that extra spot after our stays at GF and Poly, so just curious.
Thanks for all the helpful info, this time tomorrow we will be lounging by the pool after lunch at Beaches and Cream.:cool1:

Mickdeb, have a wonderful trip! I don't know the answer to your question about the daybeds, but I'm guessing they are rare in YC GV CL because I recently tried to book one for our family of five with a variety of different dates (and no discount) and the YC GV CL never popped up as a bookable category for us.

MickeyT and Shellebelle, thank you so much for the kind words! :) I wish I was a better photographer - that's something I'd love to work on when the boys grow up!

TL is my fave of the water parks - remembering from my first trip way back 10+ years ago. I've been dying to go back, but it's always being rehabbed. I'm just glad we can squeeze in one day this time. I told my husband that I'm starting to think Disney watches to see when we are booked for and then they announce that is when it will be closed. LOL

Kelleigh, so happy that you're able to squeeze in a day at TL! That wave pool is the best!

Can the refillable mugs be used at Hurricane Hanna's?

Hi Mamise! I know your questions have all been answered already, but I just wanted to add two notes:

1) Refill mugs. The refill mug station at Hurricane Hanna's is so entirely convenient - so right there at SAB and self-serve, which I think is just the best! We usually set up camp near the zero depth entry area at SAB and it's so easy to grab a refill. (Although you do have to walk around the pool to get the refill - can't carry the empty mug through the pool, even though it's only 2 ft. deep. I think I see someone try to do that every trip!) Here's a not-so-good photo:

2) BC for Poly vets! Also wanted to add that I grew up staying at the Poly and tried BC for the first time in the early 90s. I've been staying at both ever since and YES I think BC will be as wonderful as your remember. We still return to Poly - did last year, and will again next year as part of a split stay that will also include YC/BC. As much as I love the Poly, YC/BC is still my favorite. The rooms are a little smaller than Poly, but in excellent shape. I love the decor and the linens at YC/BC - much more comfy to me than the bedspreads at the Poly. And the double sinks at YC/BC outside the bathroom work really well for our family. Of course, SAB can't be beat and the dining options around the Epcot resort area and in World Showcase are amazing. And there is nothing better than walking (or boating) "home" from Epcot and DHS. Hope you have a wonderful stay!

pixarmom -- we were on the Wonder last June and the linens had already been changed over to the comforters that they have on the Dream. I was surprised today when I saw the photos of the bedspread on the Magic, since it's almost a year since the Wonder linens were replaced. So don't worry -- it's like you see it in the Dream photos. :)

As for the excursion -- friends booked with that company since they had children too small for some of the DCL excursions. In a private tour, they were willing to take the kids. We used them since they are the only ones that offer the kayaking/glacier trip that we took -- they were great. Picked us up at the ship and took us back in time! It's a day we will never forget. I'll be happy to answer any of your planning questions. :)

mmmears, I know this may sound silly, but I am SO happy to hear about the linens on the Wonder. This is one of the reasons I love YC/BC so much - the whole allergy thing is an issue for us and everyone is more comfortable with the comforters. Perfect for Alaska! I'm going to see what excursions we might be able to book independently with our little guy, and use the Juneau City Tour and Mendenhall Glacier Explorer as a back-up. Thank you so much!

burberryplaid, have a wonderful trip!!!

Dee - Great pics! We haven't been since 2002 - your pictures sure make me want to go back again. DH and I went three times (no kids!) but then Disney took over.

Just wanted to tell you that we did have a GV CL room with a day bed at BC. Not 100% sure but I think the room was 5727. Teena would probably know better than me. It was on the side that overlooked the volleyball area.

Hi Robyn! Last year, a BC CL CM told us that only one BC GV CL room had a daybed - so if his report is accurate, then your 5727 would have been it! I noticed that BC no longer offers GV CL rooms to families of five, which I think is a really good idea. Even though I wish I could book GV CL at BC, the likelihood that we'd get that one room with the daybed is so slim that I think it's best to limit those rooms to families of four or less. Oh well, guess I'll just have to think about booking a deluxe CL room if I want the view!

Funny you mention that "Disney took over!" We can't even convince our oldest to step on Universal grounds!

Just a couple of comments I wanted to add. I just ordered a Canon Eos T3i SLR rebel off of Amazon and I hope that someday I may be able to be 50% the photographer that Dee and PixarMom are! Wow, great shots!

Anyway, thanks for the new photos of the Yacht Club lobby. I'm so looking forward to laying mine own eyes on it and your pictures, PixarMom, make me happier that we are going to this resort.

Dee, love the pictures of Atlantis. Might need to find a way to get down there some day. Not sure how we will do it coming from the West Coast but it looks really fun!

Thanks for the comment about the photos. I love that one of the boys, too. At first I thought you meant the one in front of Leap of Faith where both boys have "expressions" on their faces, then I remembered the other one.

We had a blast!!! Never got bored in the 4 and a half days there. We let Nate go off on his own quite a bit for an hour or two at a time- he was always back before the deadline. I think he went on the Abyss, the most extreme slide, over 30 times! I actually have a bunch of pictures of him SMILING (all taken secretly, of course).

Can you get drinks from the club level lounge to bring to SAB or is a refillable mug the best option?

That's so nice of you to say, LL! I have to say that the YC lobby was even more comfy and welcoming than I expected. Between the front desk CMs, the friendly Bell Services guys and Gary, the part-time greeter, we really enjoyed our home at YC earlier this month! By the end of the second day, our 5-year-old was running up to Gary and calling him by name. Our little guy even opted to stay in the lobby, play with vinylmation and talk to Gary instead of heading directly to Epcot on our last day!

(Sidenote: We are BC loyalists and I've been staying there for the past 20 years! After our YC stay earlier this month, we really see BC/YC as one big resort more than ever. That's why I entitled my post last week BC and YC because I just can't use the word "versus!")

Yes, it's that first one - beautiful! Many of my favorite photos are when the boys aren't looking at the camera. Our boys are going through this time where they make a really excited face with their mouths wide open and thumbs up every time they see the camera. It's super silly and they call it the "awesome face." My husband suggested they take some nice pictures instead of flashing the "awesome face." But then I thought - they look super excited and this is pretty funny - let the "awesome face" continue as long as it will last! OK, way OT, so I'm going to e-mail some of these so you can see what I mean.

Can you get drinks from the club level lounge to bring to SAB or is a refillable mug the best option?

You can, but I use a refill mug even when staying CL. First, I should disclose that I'm addicted to my refill mug. I have many and I use them every day at home, so I have to buy one at WDW every time, or I feel out of sorts! I tried to resist once when staying CL, and I only lasted one day before I gave in and bought one from the BC Marketplace. In the morning, I fill my mug with coffee from the club lounge. Same at night. I use it for my grey goose slushie in Epcot. As for SAB, our boys do grab sodas from the lounge to bring along to SAB. But I carry that mug everywhere (with a ziplock bag to stash it in my madras mickey backpack when I'm finished.) I'm more likely than the boys to need refills at SAB, and I prefer soda with ice (instead of from a can) so it really comes in handy.

Just checking - I think I saw the canister smooshed in between some other things in some pics....but is Gold Peak tea (unsweetened) available at the BC Marketplace/Hurricane Hannah's? I don't drink soda...so I want to make doubly sure (otherwise I need to pack some in the ol' cooler to bring).

Does anyone else ever get to that planning stage where you second guess all your choices????

I have been looking at best days to visit certain parks, and can't make final decisions!!!! It's not like this is our first or gonna be our last trip, so why am I obsessing about this now???:confused3

Between the touringplans crowd calendar and easywdw crowd calendar I'm making myself crazy!!!

and this is supposed to be a laid back, stroll around the park, take in the scenes type visit. So why am I trying to figure out who is going to make the Mad Dash for Fastpasses........................

I think I need some serious help!!

So glad to read that I am not the only one who has changed my schedule lately. I cannot seem to make up my mind as well. I graduate on May 5th from a local university and then can make my ADR's on May 24, which is when I really need to be firm on my schedule. I hope was thinking it was just the anxiety and pressure of graduating that was making me so indecisive until I read your post. Oh well...the bigger case is will I be able to put it away and avoid any changes after I make my ADR's?

Hi goofyredraider! I zoomed in on iphoto, and can see that Gold Peak tea is available at BC Marketplace, but not Hurricane Hanna's. I did not update my BC Marketplace photos earlier this month (other than the cooking stations, at Dee's request) but I think they are the same.

Akess, congratulations on your graduation! If you can't put it away, no worries! I frequently ADR-change up until the last minute, and it turns out great. That's how I ended up at H&V for the Disney Junior breakfast with our youngest earlier this month, and we had a wonderful time!

Nope, it wasn't 5727 ... probably more like 5627 but not totally sure. But I do believe there is one that has a daybed. It was down the Presidential Suite hallway, right?

Thanks to all for the informative responses. We're very much looking forward to our trip to the BC in late July / early August. When last there, our kids were seven, five and zero (wife was pregnant with our third). When we're there this summer, they'll be 20,18 and nearly 13 (my wife and I remain the same age, however). Looking forward to many fond remembrances as well as great new experiences.

Thanks, again, for the coaching (anything else you can share will be greatly appreciated) and I'll try to learn more about whether the liquor delivery option is viable. Best wishes to all.

I'll try to learn more about whether the liquor delivery option is viable.

We use We Go Shop. They will go to whatever store you ask. I seem to recall the only thing with liquor was you had to be there to receive so they could see your ID.

We were in a YC GV CL room that had a day bed the end of march. It overlooked the wedding gazebo. We are not sure of the room number was XX54. As Tenna said, it was right in front of the pres suite

I'll be updating the BOG list tomorrow morning, so I'll make your change. I shouldn't forget, but if somehow I do... Give another nudge.

4 more days for me! Kind of makes the big snowstorm we are supposed to get tonight a little more bearable!

My dates are April 26-30th BC CL! :thumbsup2

If anyone is there on Sunday, April 29th at MK....our High School band is going to march down Main Street at 10am! Both my kids will march - my daughter for the last time and my son for his first time. I'm very excited!

Any new news on the pool? Is it almost done?

Great, thank you!!!

We've used Garden Grocer the past 2 times we stayed at BCV and we've ordered both beer and wine. We even requested certain brands of wine and they delivered it. We did not need to be there for delivery either. They left everything with bell services who then delivered it to our room when we returned.

Great to hear you're on your way! If you go back about 3 or 4 pages, maybe, people have been reporting that the pool is now completely open with no construction in site. So I think you should be good. Let us know how it goes!

I haven't done grocery deliveries to the resort. Garden Grocer will deliver there. One of other readers out here should know if they deliver beer & wine.

There is a company called Beer Run that we were going to check out as all we want to order is some wine/beer for the room. I haven't talked to anyone directly yet to see if they are reliable: http://www.beerrun.biz/
