Marlton Mom, Nannete and all the east coasters :scared1: Stay safe!

We just checked into BC today :yay: and we love it. Have a wonderful GV room that has a partial view of the lake. Hope I can find the secret mousekeeping closet that Marlton Mom set up! I don't want to leave

Everyone on the East coast please be safe. Just started to rain so hopefully we won't get hit too hard.

When I spoke to the airline I tried to split us up, or at least get DH home.... No dice!

Meant to leave YC on Monday but my flight back to MA is cancelled :(. While everyone seems to think this is great.... Its not! I cannot get on another flight until Saturday!!! Next Saturday! I will have already been here for 10 nights and while I did buy the Disney trip insurance it's not going to cover staying 5 more nights, plus my DH needs to be home for work.

DH wants to rent a car and drive 23 hours home with 3 kids....

Anyone with any tips or ideas I would LOVE to hear em!

What about taking the train? Although I think I'd rather be couped up in a car with mine than longer on a train without feeling in control. Where's the bottleneck with flights? Could you fly as far north as possible, then rent a car/train for the rest of the way.

How does the trip insurance work? Does it pay out a certain amount or only for a very days? Just curious to file away in case. We usually don't buy it.

I would rent a car and drive!! I think the train will be a no go to because of flooding and debris. At least with a car, you can pick a route that goes AROUND the mess that has been created!! Good luck getting home!!:sad2:

I would have to agree. Just checked Amtrak and all east coast trains (north of Jacksonville) shutdown until tracks can be inspected. (Good move). Sounds like car rental would be most viable option if you need to get home.

Hope everyone is doing okay with the storm. It's HOT and so dry I feel like my skin is falling off. We're up and off to the classroom for the last day to hopefully get done and ready for the kids to arrive tomorrow.

I'm having so much fun with Lily just hugging her and talking to her about our Disney adventures that are coming. She seems to particularly get super excited when I mention Typhoon Lagoon.

Jeanne is doing good ... sleep deprived but I have her convinced now about getting on a schedule and the last two days it seemed to work much better. Last night Lily actually made a 4 hour period of sleep.

wow..I can't believe that you have to wait that long....which airlines....if it happend to be I wouldnt mind so much...DH no way...he would rent a car a drive us all back....good luck

Just checking in.

Hope everyone survived the storm and are safe

We had minimal damage - neighbors lost a big tree but that's it.
Now DH and I are both sleep deprived because we stayed up all
night worrying about what would come next, especially with the
kids and my Mom.

Glad your family got through the storm! Relieved watching CNN this morning that it wasnt as bad as thought, not to trivialize all the folks that were and still are affected!

GoodNight Irene!

DjdBrit....are you going to drive??

DjdBrit - we've driven (18 hours) twice and we love it!

It sounded horrible to me the first time we tried it (3 kids) but I actually like it better than flying now. Out of 14 trips we've driven twice and flown 12 times and now even the kids say they would rather drive.

Go for it!

Ah.....the value of Mom's advice. Truly priceless.

So glad you are having a good time with little Princess Lily. You so deserve it.

WOW! Ok the skies are brightening... The flooding is pretty bad, lots of debri, trees down, but we are all fine. Daughters sunken apartment had NO flooding thank God! Still no subway service, they say there is flooding in the tunnels, so I'm not sure if I'm making it to work tomorrow, but I really need to be there so we'll see. Anyway I hope everyone else doesn't have/or won't have a lot of damage!! Stay safe!

We also have driven and it wasn't as bad as we had feared. We actually liked it! :thumbsup2

You might want to get moving and secure a rental car (if that is what you are doing) before they evaporate as well. Also talk to the hotel about cutting you a discount rate while you are stuck beyond what your travel insurance will pay for.

Best of luck with your situation!

It's nice to hear that Lily is getting on a schedule and helping move the furniture for the classroom set up. How quickly they grow up! My 12 year old son wants to know how much you are paying her to help with the classroom stuff. Apparently he is looking for ammunition for negotiations about his benefits contact here at home.

I vote for driving. We do it every trip from northern PA - 21 hours home the last time- 3 kidsm now 5 -11 but have done it since all of have been infants. Who knows what other hassles you will encounter as you have to deal with the airport - I bet your flights could keep changing, probably later as they try to get things back on track.

Breaking it up in 2 days too me would be betther than waiting until Saturday. Don't know how understanding DH company is but mine would be expecting me to try to get back any way possible.

Good luck - make the return trip an adventure!

Just gotta throw in my 2 cents on the Yacht and Beach Club. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these resorts! They are my absolute favorite WDW resorts to stay at during pool-friendly months. The superb proximity to both EPCOT and the STUDIOS, (along with the best pool-scape at Disney), makes this a perfect choice for adults. Having the option of walking from your room at BC and YC to any of the restaurants at the Boardwalk or World Showcase in Epcot cannot be beat -- in addition to sinking your toes into the sandy bottom pool! Staying here always makes me dance like a

Reporting in from Boston- High winds and lots of rain, but no flooding that I am aware of around here. We lost power from 9 am to 3 pm, but hopefully the worst is over here. Boys spent the night at a friend's house because we had tickets to see Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. Mark is picking them up now.

Thoughts are with you as you try to make your way home! Safe travels, and please let us know how it goes for you. I have a friend from my city staying at the Wilderness Lodge who was supposed to come home yesterday, but she is not able to get home until Wednesday.

Just checking in.

Drive!!!

We drove last year and will be driving again this year. If we drove straight through it would be about 16 hours (we live just outside of Pittsburgh, PA), but we always split the trip into 2 days because my mom goes with us, and we have to stop to get her in NC. DD is 8 and DS is 3......I always try to pick up things to do in the car, like coloring books or color wonder books and stickers. We also sing, play i-spy, play the license plate game, and we bring a portable DVD player. And don't forget snacks!

You can make it into an adventure....and it definitely beats waiting til next Saturday for a flight!
