Jakeybake - Congratulations on your anniversary and pixiedust: :bday: to your DD. Have a great time.:flower3:

Teena So glad to see you are feeling better.:woohoo:

I'm so glad you enjoyed the Yacht Club and SAB!!! I have to tell you, I was feeling a bit of pressure! :)

Bummer about all of the luggage issues. We have never had a problem with lost luggage before, but one of my packing suggestions is to distribute everyone's clothes in all of the suitcases you are bringing so if one does get lost, everyone will still have something to wear.

I know what you mean about pressure! My sons' kindergarten teacher was at POR that same week on our suggestion, and we're having 11 additional people stay there with us during the race in Feb. :)

We've never lost luggage either, but I always do that clothes switch too. My DH ALWAYS rolls his eyes at me when I hand him outfits to stuff in his bag, but when I pulled out two extra sets of clothes for DS, did he look relieved! I guess the only upside to the lost luggage is not having to listen to him each time we pack. Probably worth it! :rotfl:

:lmao: We stayed there too about 3+ years ago. I still can't get that 'funky!' Ramada Inn of Titusville smell out of my head. That Denny's was the bomb though.... they had the best Denny's food of any Denny's we ever ate at!

~MM

So glad it's not just us with that smell! We were thinking YC had turned us into hotel snobs. (but I've since decided there's nothing wrong with that!) I think I had breakfast for most of my meals while we were there between Denny's, IHOP, and Cracker Barrel (we don't have any of those around here). Good thing my physical isn't until Oct. after eating all of those eggs! :)

Thanks for everything lady!!!!
P.S. You were totally right!

Tina, it was so nice meeting you, though it was a "walk by" meeting. Sorry I didn't have a Tasty-Cake for ya! Next time I'll back a few extra. Glad that you are feeling better. Enjoy your visit with your new grand baby. :goodvibes

We enjoyed our stay at the YC but had a few hiccups. Fortunately, the cure for hiccups is a spoon full of sugar and the wonderful staff more than made up for the hiccups with a couple of spoons full of sugar. :thumbsup2

We made it here safe and sound yesterday!

We caught the first ME bus out and were at the BC within an hour. But that's not the big news......

The big news is that the Pixie Dust was flying when we arrived! We were upgraded to a Lagoon View, Club Level room! The room and view are beautiful. If you are looking at the back entrance/doors and look directly up our room is on the top floor right next to the flag (to the right if you're looking from below and to the left if you are standing on the balcony.

Oh, and it's a full balcony with a day bed!! My DW and I sat out there last night and watched the Friendship boats come and go and stared out at the lights of the Boardwalk. So peaceful and so beautiful. Earlier in the evening we had a knock at the door and this super sweet CM had brought us a signed "Happy Anniversary" picture of Mickey and Minnie and a signed "Happy Birthday" picture of Minnie for my DD, who just turned 10!

Poured like all he'll for most of the late afternoon but cleared up a bit later on so we hit Epcot after our Cape May dinner. No rides, just a casual stroll around WS. We are hitting Cape May again today for breakfast followed by some SAB time and the hitting the Studios later.

Needless to say it's been pretty sweet so far!!!

Jay

I think we had the same room last year!!! :lmao: Is it room # 5661? We thoroughly enjoyed the view, the balcony, and the proximity to the lounge!! :thumbsup2 What a great pixie dust surprise!!! :yay:

Have a great birthday/anniversary trip!! School starts tomorrow for DD8 and we only have 17 days til our BC trip!!

Cindy

Pretty sure we have decided to stay at the Beach Club for the first time next summer as long as there is still free dining or some kind of room discount for the end of August. I have always wanted to stay there and my girls are really excited for the pool. Fingers crossed for good end of summer discounts next year!:goodvibes

Well, we are back from our stay. Since we made the switch we only got the visit BC when we had dinner at Cape May (which was amazing and our overall favorite dinner). When DH and I walked in it just felt like home. We both loved it and were so relaxed while waiting the lobby. We do know that with the kids being so young being on the monorail really was wonderful but CR just wasn't us. He already said either we need to do a split stay or something next trip which is good since it means we will have a next trip! We did not get over to see Teena because as I was heading over we realized DS had lost his SECOND lovey blanket at Epcot (he lost one the first night and he was lucky I brought backups). So instead of meeting Teena I was dealing with an upset baby. Strange thing is no one turned in either blanet but someone turned in DDs spinning Minnie Mouse. Oh well.

Teena-I am so glad you made it to see Lily and we hope to meet you next time

Stayed August 11-14. Could go on and on but....it was the best Disney stay ever. I have never met a more friendly, professional group of people at any hotel ever. Thanks BC for restoring my faith in Disney:lovestruc

I've read in a few different places that the bus service to DD Disney is not the best...

Is it because of all the stops that it makes at other resorts first?

If someone has made the BC to DD Disney trip recently, what was your experience.

Any hints or tips to make a trip to DDD and back an okay experience. We won't have a car, and hubby says "no taxi". We are a party of 7, so I can't say I blame him!

Thanks for the info. I really want to take my DGS to the Lego Store and hubby wants to get a plate of the Wolfgang Puck Express spaghetti and meatballs.

The bus TO Downtown Disney is not bad, it is the return bus. It is always crowded, makes many stops (incuding Typhoon Lagoon and other resorts) and can take over an hour. This is not a Beach Club/Yacht Club problem. I think the bus from DTD to every resort just stinks.

This is what we do. It doesn't save any time, but we find it much more enjoyable:

Dee's tip for avoiding the worst leg of travel in the World!

Please note that the opinions expressed are those of Natebenma alone (but have been been expressed by everyone else I have ever talked to)

The return trip from Downtown Disney to the Yacht & Beach Club, or to any resort for that matter is notoriously torturous. It's bad! We have not found the buses TO DTD to be all that bad but we HATE the buses that return from DTD to BC, it takes forever since the buses often stop at a water park, or change drivers, or make dropoffs at all of the EPCOT resorts, or all of the above. And the DTD return buses are always crowded. Always.

This is what we do, and it has made our trips to DTD SO much more enjoyable. You need park hopper tickets for this, which IMHO is a great idea anyway when you are staying at BC/YC. It also requires that you return prior to the closing time for EP- either 9 PM or midnight on EMH nights.

When we are on our way back to the Beach Club, we take one of the resort boats (to POR, OKW or Saratoga Springs). We find the bus stop at the resort and hop on a bus to EPCOT, then we walk through the park, enjoying attractions along the way.

Both days we did this we planned our DTD on a morning we had been at EP, and as a double bonus, we pulled a FP to Soarin' before leaving the park in the morning, and then used it on our way back to the room.

Here are the two posts from my TR where we did this.

July 2010: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=238

July 2009: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...0&postcount=49

A similar method works for us when we are traveling from another resort back to the BC- we take the monorail or bus to EP first.

Alternatively, a taxi back to the BC would probably be around $20. I would consider that, too!

Teena- I am so glad you made it to see the little princess. The pictures are so wonderful!

Jay- Congratulations on your upgrade!

I am a firm believer in prayer and I also believe that God does not want us to sit on our bottoms and wait for blessings to rain down. I believe God helps those who help themselves. Most of you know that I have had some unexpected medical issues that caused us to reduce our trip to cover some medical bills. Well after changing most of our trip to the French Quarter and ending with two nights at the beach club, I was still worrying about gratuities, DH's scooter rental, gas money, hotel in route, ect. ...

Well over the last few days I gathered up some old textbooks from the last year of college classes and old home school curriculum from my son's past three years. I listed them on ebay on a 7day run.

I have sold everything in less than 48 hours! The last item has a bid on it and still has 5 days to go with 16 people watching. I have just about covered almost every single extra expense for the trip!

For my prayer partners thank you so much! I even put $30.00 up in an envelope for Joeseph to get the kitchen sink on his birthday!!!!

Where there is a will there is a way!!

PS. Teena- I told my hubby and Joey that you work only Sun-Mon and our stay is on other days of the week. They both said we must stop there to say hi first before we check in at POFQ on our arrival day! So I guess if all goes well we will see you in December!
