We've never stayed at the YC. Are there 1st floor rooms here and if so, what do you think of them? My DH has a bad knee and I think staying either first floor or near an elevator would be to his advantage, but I'm curious what the patio view is like?

I'm sorry I keep whining about this, but I m getting increasingly "worried" about my standard view. I really don't want to look out at the rooftop from my room at night.

I know it is awful to worry about this, especially when there are real problems to worry about, espeically for those of you who are battling an illness or recently lost a loved one.

There is a club level- lagoon view at Beach Club available, but I had my heart set at staying on the YC side an I would have been ok with a garden view.

Are there only a handful of club level YC garden view or lagoon view rooms? I also want a full balcony which increases by hesitation of switching to BC side.

TIA for any advice.

PS: I am okay with a "Snap of it, you're going to Disney, staying at the Yacht Club and club level. Enjoy the parking lot." :)

Rachael
I can relate! And I, too feel a little silly worrying about it.

I was booked in a YC/GV/CL room, changed my reservation to Poly/GV/CL and got the urge to possibly switch back to YC and you're right, only the STD/CL room is available.

If the STD room were considerably less than the GV, then I probably would be more encouraged to just book it. But seeing that it's only a little over $3 more per day for a GV (though unavailable), it bothers me even more to book a STD. Plus, I already had a GV booked, but switched to Poly. Is this a sign to stay put at the Poly? Have you seen any photos of a STD YC view?

Twice we had a first floor, wv room at YC. It was really nice - nice sized patio and we had a great view of the marina, Boardwalk and Crescent Lake. We were also right across from the small laundry room and that helped too!

We loved the room. It was so beautiful sitting on the balcony. We saw lots of bunnies and birds in the courtyard below. There was several conventions while we were there and it was fun to watch their volleyball games. I want to personally thank you. You replied to many of my posts about being nervous about the Bach Club over the Yacht Club and also having 5 in a room. Well we absolutely loved loved the BC. My mom was just totally amazed at the wonderful service we received. And five in the room wasn't even an issue.

Hope you have a wonderful time on your upcoming trip!:)

You are so welcome!

I was the same way in 2008. We had always stayed YC and I was so nervous about trying BC. It was when we did our Grand Gathering and we treated all our children and grandchildren so when YC didn't have any AP rate rooms we had no choice but to switch to BC! I am so glad we did. We too became BC converts.

I really liked that room too - great, relaxing view.

I am so glad everything went so well for you - now you'll have to start planning your next trip!

I've been trying to find out if there was a 'secret' laundry room at the YC- can you tell me what room you were in?

The last week has been really crappy. Both of our cars broke down on Sunday and then Monday. Both of our cars are old: 2000 Ford Explorer(Husbands) and 2001 Ford Taurus(My car). The 2000 car is falling apart, but luckily only needed a battery. It is currently running but sounds and looks horrible. The 2001 car needed a new alternator, family mechanic(only works from his garage at nite) could not start working on it till last night and I am hoping its running and able to pick up tonight. It stincks not having my car.
Teena, you might remember me mentioning that I handle advertising for GM. So I get a little discount, not much. You mentioned the Chevy Cruze, do you still like it? I am eyeing the Chevy Malibu, still unsure.
Have not had a car payment in over 6 years so this just stincks but is inevitable. Right now I am wishing I was at Stormalongbay and sipping a drink and just be happy. :goodvibes

I'm sorry, I don't remember the room number. It was right by the side entrance from YC out to the area where the wedding gazebo is. It faced the marina.

HTH a little bit!

Bob loves his Cruz!!! He talks to the darn thing. It's a super nice car ... way too many bells and whistles for me but he loves it!!

Construction didn't really bother us at all. It was noticeable but not bothersome. The most noticeable was when they were working at the main entrance/exit that leads out to the back to go to the dock, Epcot, pool. Most days that entrance was blocked off and you had to use the doors around the corner past Cape May Cafe. I didn't really think it was an issue though. I thought the noise was kept at a minimum and it never really inconvenienced us. Heck we were having too much fun. And yes that pool is so awesome!:)

Jasminetigger....So glad you had such a wonderful time. The BC by far is our favorite place to stay :lovestruc Thanks for the construction update also. My family and I will be staying GV CL from 7/16 - 7/25 and we can't wait. Based on the progress that you saw, do you think the construction on the main entrance/exit area will be done by our arrival date? Thanks so much for your thoughts :thumbsup

And the TTA will ALWAYS be the "People Mover". I think they changed the name back, right?

I LOVE the People Mover (granted I've only been on the one in DL, but I truly love this ride). DH keeps making fun of me with the People Mover, we have the apps for our phones to check the line wait times and I check it just to "see" you know? and he always asks "But what it the wait time for the People Mover?" Which there is NEVER a wait time for that ride! So he says, well if we ride nothing else we can ride the People Mover a bunch while we're there.

Prayers to you and your family during ths difficult time. I hope your time at WDW helps in your healing process after your loss. Last August I lost my mother to cancer. We went to WDW 2 weeks later and it helped I think to get my mind off "things".
I just lost my father unexpectedly on May 10. I find immersing myself into planning my Nov/Dec trip to WDW helps. Best wishes to you and your family.

Thanks to all for the well wishes....

Wendy, I am sorry for your losses too. Sounds like you are having the same kind of year as us....Not only did we lose our MIL but on May 19th I had to put my beloved Labrador Barnum to sleep after only 8 years due to an aggressive cancer (didn't know til we brought him to the vet and he didnt' get to come home :sad1:). So we have had a very sad 2 months. I am hoping that this vacation will finally make us all smile again and keep away the tears for 10 days....well only tears of joy;). I know the BC will put a smile on my face and I hope we get to see Teena:)

Disney can do wonders with healing. When I was 8 my dad was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He lost his battle four years later. He LOVED Disney and since we lived in California, we went often and it was the one place he was never "sick." I don't know how he did it, but our trips to DL never made him feel like he had to slow down. He used to tell me it was part of the magic the park had. The year he passed, our first Christmas my mom brought me to DL for the Christmas party. It helped both of us, more then we knew it would.

It was my dad's dream to go to WDW and I'm so sad he never accomplished it, so with my first trip this October it's so bittersweet and I find myself getting nostalgic all over again, which is so silly since I've been to DL a ton since and it's been more than 23 years since he passed.

Thanks for sharing the story about your father with us. It is great hearing about everyone's connection with their parents sharing a love for Disney.

I have to share with you a story from our trip last summer. We were on our way out of the MK to head back to the Beach Club. We decided to check the wait time for Buzz Lightyear on our way out. Wait time AND FP time were both 30 minutes. So we pulled a FP, rode the People Mover (no line) and then walked onto Buzz.

2 rides for the "price" of one.

Just catching up . . .

jasminetigger, so happy to hear about your trip! And your room sounds wonderful! We booked GV CL for August and we're really looking forward to it!

Rorey, my love of Disney all started with my dad and DL too (we also lived in California!) Not a bit silly to be nostalgic - I'm extremely nostalgic about my parents (they experienced significant health issues but are now well) at both WDW and DL. Thanks so much for sharing with us. Looking forward to hearing about your trip in October!

If I were to guess, I would say they would be done with that area by the time you arrive. I wouldn't be surprised if they were already done with that area. Really the construction wasn't that bad at all. After the first day, I really didn't notice it too much. It was kinda just there. Hope you have a wonderful trip.:)

I would really like to write a letter of praise for all the CM's on the club level at the Beach Club. They were fantastic and made us feel right at home. I wrote down most of their names before we left. Actually all the CM's we met at the BC were superb, from the Lobby (Hi Teena), to the pool, to the restaurants, etc. My mom couldn't get over how friendly and helpful everyone was.

Does anyone know the address where I can send a letter? I don't want it to just go to some general mail box. Thanks for your help.:)

Great story Rorey, I also have all the memories of Disneyland with my Dad.. I to grew up in California and visited often. Have a great time and just remember your dad will be seeing it all with you from above.

Ok so I am just venting...I have read on these boards all the great things about BC CL. From ordering what guest like to helping with ressie's. WELLLL I emailed IPO and asked to add on....
1. BDay celebration (check)

2. Asked for dinner reservations for our arrival day. Asked for Hoop De Doo and/or Chef Mickeys. OK so they were booked. No prob...but? The answer I got was was not available. next question. WHAT? How about a suggestion? I know I am expecting a lot but I am paying for extra here. How about can't get you in here how about these alternatives?

3. I am a divorced woman with DD(9) and I have a fantastic DisBoyfriend who takes me and the kids (his DS6y/o) each year to Disney. Welll This year is his birthday when we are there so I figured I would ask for Guinness beer to be in the Club Level fridge or in stock there for when we arrive. I have heard that certain beers can be stocked etc...I just wanted ONE Beer so when we check in they could say WELCOME TO BC CL MR. SOSO HAPPY BIRTHDAY HERE IS YOUR FAV BEER TO START OFF...I was told instead that they don't carry the beer if I want I need to order it to the room for $6.75 per bottle and I need to call and give credit info...

OH WELLL>>>>>Thanks for letting me vent. Where is my Magical Pixie Dust?
:confused3

Sorry if I am whining and expecting the world here.

Priskillet - Not trying to be mean but I think you might be expecting too much of BC IPO.

They usually do not make suggestions, just check on availability of ADRs that you request.

They cannot get each guests "special requests" beer and such - can you imagine the price of cl if they were to do this?

They do perform many services. Give them a list of the ADRs, tours, specialty cruises, spa appointments etc. that you would like and they will try their best to get them for you. They really do try their best. Last year my dd broke her leg and we had to reschedule our trip by two weeks. By that time all the ADRs and such had been made. They got us everything except California Grill and Fantasmic Dinner Package. They were really helpful.

If something is really important to you (like the beer) order it and enjoy!
