The only time I was able to see Fantasmic fireworks was from our room 4545 at the beach club.

Hello!!

1. When we're staying at a resort for the first time and I'm not sure what I would like, I don't make any requests. I usually request a full balcony at BC, but that's it! In my opinion, there are benefits to different locations - either you are close to the lobby or close to Epcot. You know you will have a nice garden view either way. I do think everything is close at the BC. Some have commented on the length of the hallways, but that's not an issue for us. When we stayed close to Epcot, we loved it. And if we didn't want to go through the hallways, we would take the path along Crescent Lake to the lobby.

2. The one time we checked in on-line for BC, we booked standard (no GV at the time.) We just grabbed our keys and were off, so the CM didn't have time to tell us that we received an upgrade. When we walked into our room with a very nice view, it was clear that we received an upgrade! (I double checked here when we returned home, and someone confirmed it was a water view room!) If you would like to discuss or change your room assignment with the CM at the front desk, then definitely skip the on-line check-in.

Forgot to reference the FAQ post on the first page of our thread! Here it is:

Should I checkin online in advance or wait until I am at the resort?

As noted in the responses above, if you don't have any questions and if you are going to just grab your keys and go, then you are great candidate for the online checkin. If there is a possibility that you will ask for a room change because you are not satisfied with the one that has been assigned to you, then you should wait until you arrive at the resort to check in.

Thanks, Pixarmom! If I remember, I'll call about adding a request for a full balcony, but other than that, I think I'll let the cards fall where they may and hold off on checking in until we get there. :goodvibes

First off - congratulations. Staying anywhere at Disney is better than not going.

As a family we have only gone to the Deluxe resorts, but I stayed at CSR for a conference last year and loved it! I'd be happy if I were to be back there someday.

Likes - the property is beautiful. I loved walking around the lake and having a drink outside in the evenings. I also loved the pool area - big and beautiful.

Dislikes - only transportation is by bus. We much prefer a resort that has boat and walking options for at least one park. I also didn't like the food at CSR. I found the marketplace to be mediocre at best. (Although the catering for our conference was sooo good.)

The rooms were a bit smaller and the door opened to the outside so I found the view didn't matter because I mostly kept the curtains closed since everyone walking by could see right into the room.

As long as we can afford it I'd book a deluxe resort for our family, but if price was an issue I would be quite happy to go back to CSR.

janet,

Thank you so much for your response. I have been quite spoiled by YC/BC these past 2 trips!!! we have enjoyed walking to EPCOT, taking afternoon breaks at the pool or in the beautiful lobby. And when I think about staying in a moderate again, I get a little worried.

I should just be happy to be going back so soon right???

Hi Dee,
Sorry to inconvenience you, but we've had to change our dates due to a family wedding. We'll be at the BCV Aug 7 - 12, 2011 now. Doing a split stay with AKV Aug 2 - 6. No availability at BCV for 1st half of trip - but we're also looking forward to the AKV's. Seems like we'll have the best of both worlds (tho I really don't like changing resorts mid-stream, we're going to make the best of it!)
Thanks!
Gretchen

Not a problem! Mike and I will take care of your change to the list.

Has anyone ordered a custom cake from the BC/YC private dining? How was it? Would you do it again? Any pictures? I am thinking of it as a surprise for our dinner at Cape May though have no ideas for them or if they are any good! I checked out the cake chatter thread but most reviews are from GF or CR.

I ordered one about 4 years ago for our anniversary.... I actually ordered it a month before the trip and then we added the DDP, so I cancelled the order for the cake since I figured we'd be overwhelmed w/ desserts. Somewhere along the line they missed the cancellation and we arrived back to our room at the YC to find a beautifully set out cake waiting for us :rotfl: I'm actually glad they did make it and deliver it because it was very good! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Now, I think I am going to order one (anyone else dining at Cape May on the 19th?--Looks like there will be PLENTY to share). So next question--Will IPO help me coordinate it or should I just go through the private dining line?

Hello All!!! I will be at the BC July 26-Aug2...I am curious if anyone here uses the Sandcastle Club???? I did once 3 years ago and my daughter was BORED...but there were only 2 other kids there. I have also used Kids Night Out but they are a lot more expense.

OK so here are my two question....

1) Any thoughts on Private In room sitting for dd 9 and ds6? or Should I do Sandcastle Club. We want to venture to Jelly Rolls....So much Fun!!!

2) We are staying CL this year...Are there any advantages? I am really not sure other than paying more and having snacks thru out the day.

Thanks all!!!!!! I am getttttttinnnnnggg so excited!!!

Here are pictures of two cakes that I got from YC/BC private dining. They were both delicious!

YCFAN--I thought I remembered the pirate one! I love them both. Did IPO organize it or did you? Your vacations are what I wish I could do. You do an amazing job with the special extras!

Since my youngest son will not eat dark or milk chocolate, only white chocolate, both cakes were white cake with vanilla buttercream filling. I thought they would be bland but they were both light, fluffy, almost refreshing. We were extremely pleased with both of them. The Space Mountain cake was August 2010 and the Pirate cake was May 2011.

I actually contacted private dining myself. I actually just ordered another one for July. The last two times I've spoken with a lady named Yvette. She has been very helpful and I just told her what I wanted. They are now customizing 6 and 8 inch cakes at YC/BC. This is a VERY recent change as before they would only do 10 inch cakes for custom cakes.

The Space Mountain cake was actually two tiered and more expensive. It ran $200. The Pirate cake, however, was extremely detailed and it was $125. I used my TIW card at Yachtsman Steakhouse and received the 20% discount on each cake. This July I'm doing a much simpler cake because it will only be me and my 10 year old son who will be turning 11. This time they're doing a buttercream 6 inch cake (no fondant this time) and doing a stand up "cut out" figure of Duffy the Bear. They quoted me $51. I'm really looking forward to seeing how satisfied I am with the smaller cake.
