Thanks everyone for the "resort casual" dress for Yachtsman answers!!!

DH wanted to eat there, but I really didn't want to pack suit, dress, heals etc.

Still trying to debate if the food is worth it. EPCOT or Captains Grill may be a better choice.

And I'm one of those crazy people that really dislike ADR's :confused3
Wouldn't like to feel like I'm stuck eating somewhere that I'm not in the mood for that day, or if I'm not that hungry and just want something light. DH on the other hand could eat a steak at every meal.

Well I still have 26 days to decide.................

My family enjoyed the Captain's Grille in July. I have posted the link of our review with a couple of pictures from our meal:

My son and DH both ordered the steak and enjoyed it.

Wow I can't believe there is a new thread already!

Thanks Dee for keeping it AMAZING!!!

And thank you everyone for all the valuable info!

I do have a question.... In July we will be staying at YC overnight before we check into our timeshare the next day. I know check out is 11am. Does anyone know if they ever allow for a late check out? If so how late will they let you check out and is there a charge for it? Anything I should/could do in advance to help our chance of a late check out? Our intent for that day is to relax by the pool for a while but it would be nice to go back to the room to shower and change and then take all the luggage when we pick up the rental car from the Dolphin. (I know there are showers in the "locker room" but it would be so much easier to relax in the room while each of us gets cleaned up.) TIA for any help!

Also... I will be taking DME for the very first time, out flight gets in at midnight and I know the buses run 24/7 but does anyone have any personal experience with transport that late? I wonder if we will be waiting a long time and how long it will be until we get dropped off at YC.

I believe the "late check out" is only until 12:00. We've asked for it a few times. The shower/changing facilities in the health center are really nice though.

On our last trip we had a late arrival, we got to ME counter at around 12:45am. There was no one in line and there was a bus waiting, we boarded and we were off!

Thank you...so it seems like we might not have to wait for them to fill the bus?

I had a feeling it wouldn't be very long, thanks for the reply!

Wooohooooo!!! Just booked the airfare for our November trip!!!:banana::banana: It always makes the trip seem more real when that is done!

Congratulations on getting one step closer, I know what you mean, after you have booked airfare, I always better about the planning.

DH and I are having the same debate. I waffle daily between the two. On the one hand, we like that BC is closer to Epcot and we'll be spending a ton of time there for F&W. On the other hand, YC seems more us since it is quieter and more formal, and we really like that atmosphere. I have a knee problem that requires me to save steps whenever possible so the BC closeness is good, but DH wants me to rent a scooter so it won't matter.

The boat dock is at Yacht Club, if that matters. I have a knee problem too and found it super easy to stay at YC and get on the boat to Epcot or DHS. It saved a lot of steps, not walking to/from Epcot, and not walking from Beach Club to and from the boat dock. We didn't use the Marketplace at Beach Club, though... if we did, that would have been a ton of walking.

Hi, sorry I have been off the grid. I got my bad tooth pulled finally and was out of it for a few days. Wow, I love the "food porn" food pictures. I have 230 days before I get to enjoy that wonderful food. I go June 1st down to Charleston, SC and Myrtle Beach for a week. I was going to go to an all you can eat seafood buffet but with the price of gas hitting $4.09 a gallon here in KY, I don't think that is possible. My best friends (who live in SC) and I meet with our kids every year. This year my family of three will be an extra (son's friend who is a "girlfriend") anyways our four, another family of four, and a single mom with three. That is eight children from 8 months to 16 years old. We stay at a hotel where one of my friends have time share (three seperate suites) and buy grocerys and hang at the pool and beach. Looking forward to the rest but not sure how much I will get with all the kids. Still wish I could be down in Florida in June but going to Myrtle Beach and buying grocerys will help us finacially pay December's surprise stay at BC very possible; if the gas prices don't go any higher.

Try the Giant Crab in Myrtle Beach, if you go early it is under $20 pp including drink with the coupon, we love that place

Did you decide? Do you mind me asking which one you chose and why?

Please listen to your DH and rent a scooter. If a few extra steps to the boat will make that much of a difference then how do you figure you can handle walking around a park? Do yourself and your DH a huge favour and get the scooter. You won't regret it. Not getting it on the other hand is something you likely will regret. If your knee gets really sore then you could end up laid up for a day or two. Does that sound like a fun vacation for you or your DH?

Get the scooter. You won't regret it.

Oh, and to answer your question, I think YC sounds more your style. Don't choose based on those few saved steps to Epcot. You'll have a scooter anyway, right? Choose the resort that feels more suited to your tastes.

Can someone tell me what the normal pool hours are for July/August for SAB?

Hi Christine! The hours at SAB seem to vary based on a number of factors, including season, weather, crowds, etc. In our recent experience, SAB was open until 11pm in July (hot and relatively crowded, but value season), until 10pm in early March (peak season) and until 8pm in early-mid February (value season, low crowds and very cold!) I'm not sure what time SAB opens because we're at the parks in the mornings, but I've heard reports of 9am or 10am - maybe someone can report typical opening times for the summer months.

I'd suggest checking with the lifeguards when you arrive, just to confirm. In March last year, we asked at the front desk and they gave us a 9pm closing time. On our way back from Epcot, we saw kids going down the slide and asked the lifeguards. The lifeguards said they changed the hours and SAB would be open until 10pm that week. The lifeguards mentioned the factors listed above and said that sometimes the changes don't make it to the front desk.

Also, the quiet pool at BC is open all the time, so that's an option when SAB is closed.

Happy Swimming! :wizard:

I have a question maybe someone here who has rented a scooter can answer.

Can you take the scooter on the water taxi to DHS?

TIA

Can someone tell me what the normal pool hours are for July/August for SAB?

Last July SAB usually opened around 10am and closed around 11pm.

My girls and I took a 2nd quickie trip down the last week of August last year and I believe the pool started closing around 10pm the last 2 nights of the 4 night trip (Aug 31 or so)

FYI...just in case you didn't know.
Remember if you check your baggage you will need to pick it up before boarding the DME buses.

How to make a Kitchen Sink Disney video:

Thank you for that link. Wanted to get that really bad, but knew there wasn't enough of us (2) get get through it. Settled for the sundae which was just as good.

Remember, you can always call and cencel. That's how walk-ups get to get a seat. No cancellation fees, just call. Always better to have and then to cancel than to not have at all and not be able to enjoy. And yes, the Yachtsman Steakhouse is worth it (IMHO).

Teena - I hope everything went well with your treatments. I'm looking forward to meeting you. We'll be at the BCV from 4/30 - 5/10. Will you be there this Sunday (May 1)?
