Quick question for those that have eaten at Yachtsman:

What exactly did you wear (men and ladies) to be considered Resort Casual?

Thanks in advance

I remember I wore a pair of khaki capris and a printed t-shirt (not printed with Disney stuff--like floery type print.)

Hi, sorry I have been off the grid. I got my bad tooth pulled finally and was out of it for a few days. Wow, I love the "food porn" food pictures. I have 230 days before I get to enjoy that wonderful food. I go June 1st down to Charleston, SC and Myrtle Beach for a week. I was going to go to an all you can eat seafood buffet but with the price of gas hitting $4.09 a gallon here in KY, I don't think that is possible. My best friends (who live in SC) and I meet with our kids every year. This year my family of three will be an extra (son's friend who is a "girlfriend") anyways our four, another family of four, and a single mom with three. That is eight children from 8 months to 16 years old. We stay at a hotel where one of my friends have time share (three seperate suites) and buy grocerys and hang at the pool and beach. Looking forward to the rest but not sure how much I will get with all the kids. Still wish I could be down in Florida in June but going to Myrtle Beach and buying grocerys will help us finacially pay December's surprise stay at BC very possible; if the gas prices don't go any higher.

First off- thanks to everyone who provided some requested photos already!!! I appreciate the help - the pictures were exactly what I was looking for.

Dee - I think you have all of my "no family in the photo" pictures of BC, and I wish I could help with the new requests.

I appreciate all of the photos you provided after your last trip. I wish I could help with my new requests.

I don't have any of these photos, but am willing to go on a photo mission for you when we touch down in 12 days!

Dee
Let me know if you need any more photos. We leave in 10 days but are staying at Pop before BC (checking in on May 10). My Dh will be bringing his Canon DSLR and loves taking pics. :thumbsup2

I'll figure out what I still need for photos early next week, then I will prepare a "Photo Safari List"- I don't want anyone going out of their way on vacation, but if you happen to be in the right place...

I'll be in touch, and thanks again!

I am late but I am here.....Thanks Dee for all that you do

Thanks for your part in getting the ball rolling again. Who knows how long I would have stared at the previous thread getting further and further buried, wondering why nobody was posting! :rotfl:

When I noticed that the AKL one was closed I went looking for this one and saw that it too was closed.... Sad, sad day!

Here's an update on my Garden Room saga with Virgin Holidays.

Disney quoted $5.00 per night to myself to upgrade our room. VH want £10.00 that's $16.00 per night. What a rip off.

So I have bitten the bullet and booked a standard room, with a note on the booking that I would pay for the upgrade at checkin for a garden room if available and I would like Gazebo view facing Epcot. Hopefully when we arrive next August, then it won't be too busy so we will be able to upgrade at checkin. If not, then it was meant to be.

:banana:I can now start planning our dining plan even though its 15 months to go LOL!

We arrive 08/11/2012 and leave 08/25/12.

Hi MickeyT,
Can you add CL to our stay Sept 20th- Sept 28th YC CL:yay:

I am glad everyone is doing so well...
Teena I hope treatment is going good. Do you find yourself tired at all? Trying to size things up before my surgery and treatment start(hoping for radiation not chemo, but we will see)

Love the Spa closet...Wish I could find the time to come down the slushies sound amazing

I didn't know we were staying at the YC at the same time. Hopefully we'll be able to say hello!

I wish you all the best in your upcoming treatment...while it's always different for each individual, I found myself extremely tired after treatments (radio-immuno) so I would make sure to allow at least a day to recover, but your doctor can give you more details based on treatment type.

I was *wondering* why no one was posting to the old thread... :lmao:

Wow, Dee, you got a TON of information back up on the new thread super fast... thanks so much!:goodvibes

Now, back to my borderline-obsessive stalking of the Disney Event planning team..... :rotfl2:

I wore a sundress with sandals and my DH wore khaki pants and a polo shirt. We were probably the most dressed people in the restaurant. We were both surprised by how..... "casual" .....many of the other diners were. There were graphic t-shirts (at least one of which was borderline inappropriate, as I recall) and plenty of shorts. I don't mean to be judgmental but I thought the "resort casual" dress code implied something nicer than graphic t-shirts and shorts. :confused3 It certainly didn't impact our delightful and romantic dinner!!!

Yea!!!!

We're a thread again. Has anyone checked out to see if anyone else got the big lockdown?

Hey! Is this the same "team" that's planning the first ever BC Mousekeeping closet/suite "Marco Polo tournament"?

Since we now can accommodate so many in the closet/suite we figured we better get some help organizing this massive event. The Mousekeeping closet team kicks off their first match against Brazil, which has entered MANY tour groups in the tournament.

Marlton Mom here is happy to say that in her neighborhood no one under 12 years of age has ever beaten her in Marco Polo. After the age of 12 I fear they start to get a little too quick for me, especially in our 18 foot, round, above ground pool. The good news is that I've been working out to get in shape for this very prestigious tournament and I'm fairly confident I will make the team.

So who else is in and what are your "special" qualifications?

Marlton Mom

Not sure if it's too early to post on here or not but we're thinking about staying either BC or YC CL Std View for food & wine festival/1st anniversary this October but I can't for the life of me choose between the two...is there really much difference? I get the nautical vs beach theme...but in terms of service, amenities etc which would you pick and why?

TIA!

DH and I are having the same debate. I waffle daily between the two. On the one hand, we like that BC is closer to Epcot and we'll be spending a ton of time there for F&W. On the other hand, YC seems more us since it is quieter and more formal, and we really like that atmosphere. I have a knee problem that requires me to save steps whenever possible so the BC closeness is good, but DH wants me to rent a scooter so it won't matter.

Did you decide? Do you mind me asking which one you chose and why?

Wow I can't believe there is a new thread already!

Thanks Dee for keeping it AMAZING!!!

And thank you everyone for all the valuable info!

I do have a question.... In July we will be staying at YC overnight before we check into our timeshare the next day. I know check out is 11am. Does anyone know if they ever allow for a late check out? If so how late will they let you check out and is there a charge for it? Anything I should/could do in advance to help our chance of a late check out? Our intent for that day is to relax by the pool for a while but it would be nice to go back to the room to shower and change and then take all the luggage when we pick up the rental car from the Dolphin. (I know there are showers in the "locker room" but it would be so much easier to relax in the room while each of us gets cleaned up.) TIA for any help!

Also... I will be taking DME for the very first time, out flight gets in at midnight and I know the buses run 24/7 but does anyone have any personal experience with transport that late? I wonder if we will be waiting a long time and how long it will be until we get dropped off at YC.

The two times I have been to Beaches & Cream it was during the evening and the first time in August 2010 I remember a lot of people were lined up on their take out section. So I was wondering when they open at 11:00 AM and in the afternoon how busy is the take out line?

On our last trip we had a late arrival, we got to ME counter at around 12:45am. There was no one in line and there was a bus waiting, we boarded and we were off!

Quick question for those that have eaten at Yachtsman: What exactly did you wear (men and ladies) to be considered Resort Casual? Thanks in advance

Here is my take on this, I've seen just about everything there from suites on the men and dresses on the women to shorts and t-shirts. My wife and I look at this as a nice evening out and we dress appropriately for that. I don't take offense to those that don't share our preferred manner of attire. Sometimes there are legitimate reasons why someone doesn't have time to change into nicer clothes to eat at a restaurant that charges an arm and a leg for their meals. However, having said that, I do prefer the more "business casual" look than what one would wear to eat at a counter-service venue.

So I was wondering when they open at 11:00 AM and in the afternoon how busy is the take out line?

Been there in December only so that might influence what my experience has been, but in the early afternoons and at opening I did not see any really significate waiting in the take-out area of B&C.
