Each trip I buy one of the beautiful YC/BC paintings that are sold in the Marketplace gift shop. They are beautiful recreations of paintings of the resort done by artist Alexandria Skordas.

You can buy them framed or unframed. I purchase them unframed and then frame them myself locally since I'm not crazy about the frames they offer at the Marketplace.

Just a thought.

Here are the pictures of the pictures that Jay emailed to me:

when it gets to cold out (the 40's) they close the pools-

we had that happen to us this past Dec. You could see the steam coming off the water, the life guards sitting with winter clothes on, no one in the pools. It was just too cold, so they closed the pools!!!!

This past December when I was at Beaches & Cream it was one of those cold nights and I saw that Stromalong Bay wasn't open, along with seeing the Lifeguards just sitting there. I was thinking to myself if the pool is closed why are they still working when they could be inside getting warm.

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in about a week because I'm on vac in Disney so I'll catch up when I get home. I'll do a mini review later in the week but I'm just sooooo excited I have to share with my YC/BC friends. So I have water view room for a one night stay at YC for tonight. I headed over this morning at about 10:30 to see if we could check in early and wait for it.........I was upgraded to club level..... Woohoo!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: I will take lots of pics of the lounge offerings. If anyone has any questions or needs any pics or info just let me know!

MsCoz :woohoo: Congratualtions on the upgrade! Enjoy!! We are staying at the YC CL for the very first time this winter...Would love to see some pics...

I have a few lounge and view questions too...If you dont mind!! :goodvibes What water view rooms are located near the lounge...and what evening offerings there are the evening that you are there... TIA!

Have a great vacation!

natebenma and Jay Beautiful pics...thanks for sharing and posting them...I have a similar one from the GF in a frame..maybe YC/BC one will be next!??

Last December happened to be unseasonably cold in Florida...well everywhere I think...At what outdoor temps to they close SAB??? Hoping that this winter will be a much milder one!

Hi there Mickeynut! :flower3:

My trip is coming up fast and I have a few questions I hope someone can answer:

1. How is the bug situation this time of year? Should I plan on bringing a lot of bug spray?

2. Does anyone know if my 15 yr old needs any ID to board the plane (Southwest)?

3.I am not staying club level:sad1: My son is turning 16 on the 2nd day of our trip. Is there someone I can contact to possibly bring balloons or something festive to our room?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. This is such a great thread. I learned so much and appreciate everyone who contributes. I am so excited to be at the beach club in 12 days!

I don't want your questions to get lost on the bottom of the page!

1. I've never needed bug spray at Disney but maybe someone else can offer an opinion.
2. My oldest child is 7 and has never needed ID but, again, maybe someone with older kids has an opinion.
3. Disney florist can certainly arrange something. It's not cheap but I think they do a good job.

I hope you have a great trip! We had a good experience last summer flying SW out of Islip and staying at BC.

Amanda

Amanda- thanks for bumping this up and adding your input.

We have traveled the 2nd week in July the past two years, and the only time I needed bug repellant was on the beach at the Poly watching the MK fireworks. I used the Off wipes instead of spray because they were easy to carry.

My 13 and 10 year old sons did not need ID. Not sure when that changes- 16? 18?

We are considering a stay at the YC and I was wondering if all rooms come with a daybed? We've stayed at the BC before and I know not all rooms there come with one, but I wasn't sure if the YC was the same way :confused3. I know they can be requested, but with us being a family of 4, it's not guaranteed. We have 2 teens and the daybeds came in handy when we stayed at the Poly and GF, so it's hard to go somewhere else and not have one. TIA :flower3:.

Not all rooms but they do have some that do have them, we have one for our next trip CL in Sept. :)

Good Morning Beach Club Friends (you feel like family),

I am here asking for prayers for my Dad who had a heart attack on Thursday morning. We are anxiously waiting for good news. The doctors said it could be days before we know if he will recover. It is so hard to wait and not know...

Thank you all for positive thoughts and prayers.

BLTtinkerbell

My prayers are with your dad and your family...I hope you get good news soon keep us updated please:grouphug:

Great info on BC/YC thanks! We are looking to stay at the YC last week of April/first week of May 2012.
When I checked online, no standard or garden view available at either BC or YC for our dates, is it possible that all SV and GV are sold out:confused3....or does Disney not release all rooms this early....any thoughts?

Originally I was thinking AKL for the animals or the Poly for the monorail, but then I saw Stormalong Bay. Who needs a water park when your own hotel pool has a lazy river.

So I guess my question is, is the pool really as awesome as it looks? Is the pool alone enough to get me to choose this deluxe over all the others?

SAB is a great pool, BUT, the "lazy river" is not a lazy river like at BB or TL. It's small (just a quick circle), narrow, deep (8 ft), and if you want a tube you need to rent it, they don't have complimentary ones. So, I would not choose SAB based on the lazy river. In fact, I would not choose BC/YC based on SAB (but I know I'm in the minority). I would choose it because it's so close to Epcot, which is our fave park, and there are so many dining choices nearby. I think your plan of spending a couple of nights is a great plan. :thumbsup2 Gives you a little variety.

We have also never needed bug repellant at Disney. I think they keep the bugs under control in a Magical Way!

ID - DS now 19 did not get his license until he was 17 and was not asked for ID before then. DS15, now with his permit, I am sure would be happy to show anybody who asked!

Thanks to all who replied about the bug spray, southwest ID, etc. In New York, you can't get a driver's permit until 16. My DS will not turn 16 until we get to Disney. I e-mailed Southwest and they said ID is not required under 18 according to TSA rules.

By the way, how do I contact Disney Florist? Also, is there a gift shop in the area that sells balloons? My DS was a HUGE Toy Story fan for many years. I would like to surprise him with a blast from the past. I guess I could bring things from home, but I don't think balloons will travel well!:rotfl2:

NY Mom We have used the DisneyFlorist many times and been very happy with the results...

You can view all of the different items that they have on their website which is disneyflorist.com ...I think that the delivery charge for Disney resorts is about $9...

You can call them and ask about that TS balloon..they have such a variety of things that I bet you could get that added to what ever surprise that you choose for your son...

Mickdeb I would just keep trying for the room category that you want... I think they do hold certain room categories aside for conventions or other planned events...and very often you will find that they open up.. Good luck!:wizard:

I don't know the answer to your question but just wanted you to know that Standars/Garden views for May next year have been unavailable to book in the UK since at least April this year. We booked Beach Club as there was no availability at Yacht Club, still isn't now :confused3
