I kept hearing now that they're done with BC, YC is next? Anyone know the timeframe for this if it's actually true?
We're going 10/28-11/5, YC CL GV, Does the GV have a view of illuminations?
We're finally in the double digits and starting to get excited, it's been 3 years since we've been to Disney. We're gonna do MNSSHP on 10/30, and spend lots of time at F&W festival.

I can't answer your view question but I do know that it has been said that the "construction" is moving towards a time when they will be working on the Yacht Club.

The "construction" has consisted of about 2 or 3 groups of 8 guys or less that are working on 1 or 2 areas at the resort. It's not really worth worrying about because for most people it has very little impact on your enjoyment of the resort. While I was at the BC in June the guys were working on the quiet pool and they were not bothering anybody despite the use of hand sanders. We could have conversations at the pool with no trouble despite the work that was going on.

This construction is not the all encompassing, ants all over the picnic table sort of a deal. The guys are here, they're there, and you see them but you don't really think about them. So I wouldn't even give it a thought...

I hope that helps.

I understand BC Marketplace is more of a grab and go type place for breakfast but if we wanted to sit somewhere and eat could we? Or, are there other quick service breakfast options at the BC? We already have Cape May character breakfast reserved for one morning during our stay but am trying to figure out the other options.

The family thinks magical vacations just happen...they just do not realize the amount of planning and research that goes into them...but I DO enjoy every minute of it!!

Are you talking about a place to sit and eat with the food you are grabbing and going with from the Marketplace, or are you asking about places (restaurants) where you can sit and eat?

The Solarium is just around the corner from the Marketplace and has very nice seating areas (so I'm told). There are a few pictures on page 1 of the thread. The other options run the gamut from full TS Breakfast at the Captain's Grille (without characters, choice of menu or buffet) or continental breakfast available in some of the lounges at YC and BC.

I don't know if that helps or confuses, but poke around a little on page 1 (Activities and Amenities and Dining) to see some options.

And there is an all encompassing "Marketplace thread" you can check out, too

The Beach Club Marketplace has Disney-themed merchandise, swimwear and resort wear, books, groceries, sundries, suncare, candy and snacks.
Fresh pastries, yogurt parfaits, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and some prepackaged fresh food to go are available.

Here is a link to over 30 photos taken by Pixarmom in February 2011 and May 2011 showing some of the grocery items, sweets, treats, gifts and merchandise available in the Beach Club Marketplace

Thank you! When I registered, it took two seconds to decide on a screen name. Our boys have loved all things Pixar since our oldest (now a pre-teen) was a year old. They even love Cars 2, which I find a little harder to love than all the rest of the Pixar movies.

No problem at all and no apologies necessary! There's a lot of information on this thread! The only reason I know about that part of the Q&A is because "refillable mugs" is one of my favorite topics. :)

I see your ticker for MNSSHP! We've always wanted to do that, but have never been to WDW in September/October! Where will you stay?

Have a great trip and hope you enjoy YC!! :wizard:

Hi Pixarmom!! We will be staying at WL from 10/26-11/1. Had a pin code that expired in Feb. and made the reservation then. DH's b-day is 10/27 and our 32nd anniversary on 11/3,:hug: so we thought we would try this for the first time!

Got an $80 airfare from bdl to mco on 6/23 which made it even better.:yay::yay: Haven't gotten the actual ticket yet, but was planning on going to the party on 10/27. Someone said adults can even wear costumes. I really want to see the parade--heard it's great!!

What I did do, was make the haunted carriage ride on 10/31 at Ft. Wilderness. $60party of 4, and it comes with a narration (I assume by tape) of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. :scared1::scared1:

Haven't finalized the nights of 10/30-10/31, but have booked WL in case. Have to check out the YC and see if there are any good deals for those to nights. Will have to keep checking. We are very excited:yay::yay:

Disney is still fresh after all these years:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks again for all your help and research.:worship::worship: I hope you have a nice vacation with your family too!:goodvibes:goodvibes

I feel your pain! :grouphug: I have 2 daughters. One moved out, even though it was only at best 2km away, I was shattered. I can't imagine how I'd feel with a different time zone!

It is absolutely horrible. My daughter, Jeanne, is 3000 miles away ... 3 hours difference time zone. But Southwest Airlines is happy!

You had it right...a place to sit and enjoy our surroundings after we haved grabbed at BC Marketplace. You also mentioned that Captains Grille had a buffet option...that would work too since the 4 kids and DH tend to be impatient when it comes to breakfast. Before I asked the question I had looked at page 1 and could not quite find what I was looking for but between the buffet at Cape May and buffet option at Captains Grille you gave that should be enough variety. I wonder if DH could order off of the menu and the kids get the buffet...look at that...answered a question and now have another question.

Just a few ideas - not sure if any of these will be a good fit for you, but . . .

1) We took our BC Marketplace breakfast out to the beach in May and set up on the lounge chairs. It was peaceful, quiet and wonderful!

2) My parents have taken out from BC Marketplace and used the seating right outside the lobby as you head towards the lake - only a couple chairs, but they really enjoyed it.

3) The outside seating right next to the Marketplace is another option - this photo really doesn't do it justice, but here goes:

I see high chairs in that pic (which we need) so that would probably be perfect! We would have to put two of those little tables together (but that is always the case since we are a family of 6) and we have a beautiful breakfast. Don't worry we always put the furniture back the way we found it...

First fact: Going in 18 days (but who's counting?:goodvibes)

Second fact: I am attached at the hip to my iPad.

Third fact: I don't think there is wifi at BC is there?

Fourth fact: I was too cheap to get 3G ( ps, I do have an iPhone with 3G)

So ...

Should I bring the iPad even though it won't be connected to the net but I will be able to use many apps in my "spare time " or should I I go through the bends and wean off this Apple Beast? :goodvibes

Then again I could just bring my Kindle for pool time.

Whaddya think?

Honestly last time we were there my friend brought his ipad and my husband and this friend brought their iphones. Not one device was able to get service on wifi or 3g. It's a waste of your time and precious luggage space to bring it. Plus your in disney...when are you going to have that much downtime to actually use it? We are all disney experts so it's not like you need it for that much info. Only reason i could see is if you were going through DIS withdrawls and miss us all terribly :lmao:

My mom is only 1000 miles away, but I know from personal experience that moms can do great things, even from a distance! :)

This is SO exciting! Great airfare, perfect time to celebrate and the haunted carriage ride looks too fun! Sounds like it fills up, so good to book it early. Our older boys would absolutely love that! We really enjoyed WL before we outgrew a standard room there, and it's a great location for MNSSHP. I actually looked into a short trip for MNSSHP, including the 10/27 party, but I'm guessing it's not likely. I hope you keep us posted! :)

Disadventurer, you are officially in charge of booking all of my airfare! We can fly out of BDL or PVD (neither are close, but they're equidistant from us)! :)

My mom is only 1000 miles away, but I know from personal experience that moms can do great things, even from a distance! :)

I'm having a rare blissful moment....my momma is across the hall from me right now because I'm at my folks' house for a visit this week. It's an 8 hour drive from my house to theirs. You're so right, tho, pixarmom. Mom's can do really great things from a distance. :lovestruc

And it looks like my mom & big brother are coming to the YC while we're there! Double -->:banana:! I haven't been at WDW with my momma since I was about 12! :cool1:

Are they staying at YC or just visiting? Should we add them to the list? "Sweetpee's Mom and Brother"

I had you in mind when I talked about Southwest because I know you fly them often to visit your daughter! Also your granddaughter is beautiful!! Moms can do lots of great things from far away this is true and I will be going often!

I brought my iPad in October (I have 3G) I had service and did use it in the morning while in the lounge. DD also brought hers as well. We both had service using our 3G. I will be bringing mine again in !November. Never hurts to have it!

My mom is only 1000 miles away, but I know from personal experience that moms can do great things, even from a distance! :)

Hi all,

Enjoy reading all the advice here and am now ready to start doing some posting :-)

I have a garden view booked for 8/13-8/23 and am considering upgrading to water view. Do you folks think it is worth the upgrade price or should I stay with garden view and add a request for a specific location?

My sister and I are travelling with our respective 16 yrs olds - I didn't think we'd spend a lot of time at the resort, but am rethinking because we'll be there for 11 days!

Thanks in advance for your advice :-)

Just wondering if anyone around here knows if Teena is still a greeter at the lobby of BC. We will be checking in the the second week of August and would love to say hi! :hippie: We always seem to miss her for one reason or another. She is such an asset to these boards. I hope all is well with her.:goodvibes

Yes, Teena is still here!!!

She is still the gem of this forum!

She is working this weekend, Sunday and Monday I believe. Hopefully, she will chime in soon to let us know if she is working the second weekend in August. She is actually going to be staying at the BC the first week in August (to celebrate her 32nd anniversary with Bob)

And if you go back a few pages, say 198 or 200 or something, you will see the news about her first grandaughter Lily, born 7/11/11.
