Lurker coming out of lurkdom! We are doing a split stay at Poly(2nights/3 days) and BC (7nights/8days) in May 2012 and we are SO excited!!!! During the stay, our anniversary and one of our DD's birthdays happen. It's our first family vacation and we are so excited!!! Love this thread and all the great planning tip and information and just how close everyone seems :)

Welcome!! So glad you're joining us - and this is the perfect split stay!!! While BC is our favorite resort, Poly comes in second for me. Hope you have a wonderful trip and let us know if you have questions! :wizard:

Did you happen to take any photos of the Ale & Compass breakfast area and offerings? Could you purchase the refill mugs there? Self serve? (See previous posting!) :)

I actually do have a few pics :)

You can purchase the refill mugs at Ale and Compass. The only self-serve I remember was for coffee/tea. They had milk and juices behind the counter. I have to figure out how to post pics and then I'll post them.

Yeah!!!

To post pictures, you need to upload them to an account like Photobucket, then you choose "share" and copy off the link for message boards and insert it into your message here.

I can walk you through this process a little more, but I am running out right now to pick up my son.

If it is easier for you to e-mail the pictures, I will private message you and give you my e-mail address, and I can post them for you.

Be in touch when I return home.

Dee

Thanks to Mickey T was able to view the room map on disneyzone...:thumbsup2 Some balcony info listed there also...but I am a little confused!!?? LOL...

You are correct - you cannot have 5 in a CL lagoon room view. It doesn't quite make sense but that is how Disney has it setup. There had been some comments awhile ago on the thread, or maybe one of the closed ones, that they may reclassify some of the CL rooms. I think it also has been mentioned the the Deluxe rooms cost just a little more than the lagoon view and are nice, bigger and have day beds, but they are not all on the CL floor but you have access to the CL lounge. I had learned that after I had already booked and there were no deluxe available to change my reservation. I would probably do a deluxe room in the future to guarantee a day bed and a little more room as our kids get bigger. Some parties of 5 have experienced being given a CL room with a rollaway and not a daybed, apparently there is a risk for that especially when it is a busy season. I was worried about not having a daybed when we went in May (GV CL)but it worked out for us and we got a daybed. It has been reported that only 1 GV CL room has a daybed. I do not know if the deluxe rooms have a lagoon view or not.

Frequently Asked Questions and Other Useful Information

Can I ship a package to Beach Club or Yacht Club for my stay?

If you ship a package to the resort, Mail by United States Postal Service, not anything else!!! If you mail other than USPS, your items will be shipped to the convention center and the shipping department will charge the recipient a handling charge, based on the weight of your package.

Hello Dee,

Sorry if this has already been asked (I didn't read through ALL the posts in this thread :upsidedow), but is this USPS "loop hole" around the shipping department fee still valid? I'm surprised that the USPS packages received by the resorts are treated differently than the UPS or FedEX packages, for example. It's good info to know - especially if we ever need to ship multiple packages!

Also, I wanted to thank you for your FAQ threads. We are long-time BC/YC/BCV guests, but I love reading the threads to learn something new, refresh my memory, or explain the wonders of the resort to newbies! (or read to dream a little until our next trip :cloud9:) Thanks!

We stayed BC CL in September 2010 in room # 5661---it had a daybed, full balcony, and we had 5 (although DS was only 2 at the time). The balcony was directly above the main entrance to BC from the lagoon side. :thumbsup2

I wish I was there now!! Only 92 days to go!!! :cool1:

I am so excited my husband tried to talk the kids in to picking Poly. We generally have early breakfast dinning at Mk area and they would not budge Beach Club here we come. If only the time would go faster, we are not going until Sept 2012. With that being said please tell me I will not have a hard time getting to Magic Kingdom and Contemporary for Chef Mickey and CP we gen try to get 8:30 Res. Thanks in advance

Welcome! Hope you love BC as much as we do! We've taken the advice of natebenma (Dee) and so many others on this board and used a taxi for early ADRs in the MK area. This was excellent advice! I'd probably take the Disney bus to MK for CP, but I'd take a taxi to CR for Chef Mickey's. I love Disney transportation and use it as much as possible (including to early ADRs in the parks) but for resort-to-resort transportation in the morning, a cab might work best.

Happy Planning!:wizard:

Thanks so much for the nice words about the thread! Many hands have contributed here to make this the informative, welcoming and amusing place it is!

I'm pretty sure the advice to ship via USPS is still valid. In fact, our famous noodle family recently arrived at the BC via this method of transport. There were reports that they arrived safely!

I received notification that someone tried to PM me but the messages did not go through because my PM inbox was full. I have cleared a little space if you want to resend.

This is unfortunately a theme with me, and a character flaw. I currently have 10,005 messages in my personal email inbox, dating back to August 2001. Seriously! I refuse to delete anything that might be useful later, and usually I'm pretty successful finding what I need.

Note- this does in fact relate to the Beach Club since a few of these "sacred messages" are resort business!

Here are a few pictures Niki in NJ shared from her recent trip showing some of the items available at the Ale & Compass lounge in the morning.

She also said there were a variety of cereal cups there as well. I would imagine that a lot of items shown would be available for a "snack credit" on the Disney Dining Plan.

Niki, thank you so much for sharing these photos!!!

You can see the refill mugs in the background of the pastry picture, and it looks like there is a microwave available as well.

October updates- dgbg100106

You could the DDP snack credits on items. I don't drink coffee (I'm a tea girl), but my fiance said that the coffee tastes like the coffee that you would get at any of the Disney restaurants for breakfast, which he said is kind of weak overall, but at least it wasn't the Nescafe.

We just stayed at the YC and had a 8:10 ADR for Kona Cafe. It is of course easiest to just take a taxi ride over. We didn't do this though - we took the bus to MK and then the monorail to Poly. Everything ran pretty smoothly, but it would have been stressful if something had gotten delayed. We left YC around 7:05 and arrived at the Poly for 8 - so a little less than an hour to pick up resort guests, walk from MK bus stop to monorail, and take the monorail to Poly. CR is the first stop on the monorail though, so it would be shorter by 10 minutes or so. For us, this works fine, but if we had been running late, we would have just grabbed a taxi for convenience.

OMG - you really are my twin sister separated at birth!
DH is always asking me why I don't clear out my email inbox. I save every email from PTA and anything that I think I might need that could come back to haunt me! I am behind you though - I have 4,000 messages!

Of course anything Disney related - like BEACH CLUB room reservations and such I keep forever!!!

Maybe our husbands are twins, too! He is super neat and he keeps a minimum of "backup". I often get the "Why do you have so many e-mails?" lecture accompanied by the deep sigh and rolling eyes.

Hi Everyone!
I've been lurking on this thread for awhile, and the info. on it and all of you, are just awesome!!!:worship: My question is this. We want to stay at the Yacht Club for a short visit in April (there are 4 of us, 2 adults, DS 16, DD 12). What category of room do we book? I don't want a roof view, we like quiet at night, so I am thinking of a garden view. Needless to say, we are first timers. What do you think?

GV is perfect. I would also request a full balcony & a daybed(put which one you want first). I doubt your DD & DS do not want to sleep together in a queen bed. You can also request a rollaway bed! We had a GV room booked but I decided to upgrade to CL. Another thing to is maybe you want a patio then request ground floor. Keep your request to 2 max! Just know that they are only request...the only thing your guaranteed is a GV room & that is because your paying for it! LOL Even that is not guaranteed you could be upgraded to LV or CL? You never know! Request your most important thing first!!!!! Have a great time planning & welcome!!
