2011 World Series

My daughter's school is in Soulard and not far from the stadium and last night I was attending a PTO meeting when the game started. I was walking to my car when Berkman hit a home run in the 1st. Made me want to stay near the stadium (it was a gorgeous night with the DirectTV blimp floating around overhead) but ended up going to the gym and watching the first few innings on the treadmill TV.

It's ridiculous how bad I feel this morning...sometimes I wish I wasn't a sports fan...it's just a game....how come I feel so bad. :sad2: It's not like I won't continue to Love the Rangers....not a band wagon fan at all, which maybe is why this hurts so bad.

Congrats to the Cards who took advantage of our pitchers falling apart....

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

You have to remember the Cards are seasoned vets at playoffs and the World Series. Not our first dance. So cut your Rangers some slack. ;)

We are evenly matched and it is going to be another slugfest tonight.

I just can't get over the fact that we were one strike away...TWICE. But if the worst (in my opinion) happens and the Rangers lose it won't change my love of them!! (but I am seriously really sad today).

It's ridiculous to feel this bad over a BASEBALL GAME....but I can't help my emotions...they are what they are! I've lost big games before, but never have I felt this bad..

I know what you mean. I'm a Mets fan (since 1969) so I know the feeling. Nothing worse then watching Carlos Beltran watch strike 3 go by in 2006. No, it was worse in 2007 when they blew a big division lead. And did it again in 2008. and I remember 1988, when they should have beaten the Dodgers in the NLCS.....and on and on and on. I feel your pain today. because I've felt similar pain.

I know what you mean. We have lost plenty and painfully at that.

2004 was the worst for me against the Boston Red Sox. They beat us 4-zip. Now that was depressing, trust me.

1987 was the next worst. Ugh, I was in college and I was watching from my dorm room as the Twins and the Cards were fighting each other on the field (literally punching each other out). Now THAT was shameful. We lost that 4-3.

If we lose to the Rangers at least I will feel good about this series. It is awesome to watch.:yay:

Lol...sometimes I wish I was like my brother and hated sports...but I just LOVE baseball!

My favorite thing about going to the game is walking out to the seats and then getting my first glimpse of the field through the tunnel....gives me goosebumps. :goodvibes

I do hope they win, but if they lose to Texas It'll be a lot better than if they lost to most other teams.

The Texas group seems like a good team and one I would likley be rooting for if not playing my Cardinals.

I would have hated to have lost in the NLCS to the Brewers -- who I can't stand -- or in the WS to a team like the BoSox or Yanks.

8pm can't get here soon enough.........

Huge Mets fan here as well! I don't think anyone has it as bad as we do when it comes to blowing games late in games. I am 22 and have yet to see my Mets win a World Series. :sad1:

I am truly feeling for the Rangers fans too since I do sympathize! I'm sort of hoping they will win tonight just so those players do not have to regret last night for the rest of their lives...

That's kind of how I feel right now. Feliz is only 23 and had a horrible first half of the season and a pretty good second half. I heard that he was devastated after the blown save last night. I would hate to see someone with that kind of talent totally lose their confidence because of one game.

I want to win soo much for me...but I want the Rangers to win for the Rangers!

But I'm feeling way better now...I'm thinking happy thoughts, going to Vegas next weekend, it's a beautiful sunny day in Texas and I have my Halloween socks on!! :thumbsup2

I sympathize. I'm not even a big follower of baseball but I feel frustrated and out of sorts today. It was just so close.

I'm glad that this is all happening against St Louis though. I like that team.

Hang in there! Just think how great it will feel when the Mets win again. It might be a while (unless the Wilpons sell the team), but the day will come.

DH & I are big Tony LaRussa fans, so we hope the Cards win. We like Ron Washington, too - they were both previously with the A's.

I may have shared this story before, so forgive me, but when Tony managed the A's, he would go to my friends' deli for lunch on the day of an evening game and order the chicken salad sandwich and fill out his line-up card. He also started ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) near-by and they do great work!...a wonderful no-kill shelter.

I couldn't believe last nights' game! Can't wait for tonight's game!

I agree with those of you on either side of this competition who are saying that it would be worse to lose to certain other big teams ;). The Yankees and the Red Sox remind me of the Dallas Cowboys and OU (U of Oklahoma - I'm an OSU fan). The players or management or certain fans seem to have such big heads that it makes me against them no matter who they are playing. I can't remember if it was this thread or another one where someone said the World Series would be boring without the Yankees or Red Sox. Well, for me it's boring without the Rangers, and I wouldn't be watching :confused3.

I was happier last year when we beat the Yankees than I was sad that we lost to the Giants.

While I am soooooo rooting for the Rangers, just like last year with the Giants, at least I like our competition. If I weren't cheering for a particular team in this series, I'd probably before the Cardinals simply because I love those little cardinal birds on their shirts .

Still trying to get over the game last night! It was horrible. Both teams made mistakes and bad decisions, St. Louis just made less. I just knew the Rangers were gonna win it. After Freese hit that homer, DH and I just stared at each other. Not a work spoken for a few minutes. Hoping they can regroup for tonight!

I feel the same way. If we have to lose (and I hope we don't) I will be glad it is to a team the Rangers. Good luck to everyone tonight!

I'm a Cards fan and I know exactly what you mean here. My dad and I used to go to games each summer. That first glimpse of the field was and is awesome.

I'm far away from STL today, but wearing my rally squirrel tee and cheering on my team. Regardless of who wins tonight, though, the elitists who sneered at this series between two "unimportant" teams have missed baseball in its truest form between two well-matched, well-coached, well-behaved teams. I couldn't be prouder of both teams who've made this an October to remember.:cheer2:

I'm actually not a fan of either of the teams in the WS this year (Braves fan here) but as a baseball fan, last nights game was one of the greatest I have even seen!

Let's hope it is while we are still alive! ;) I am keeping the faith too, though, and also praying that Reyes will not leave us! :worried:
