2011 DISers Halloween Party Dates & Costumes List

How much different do you think the crowd will be between a Friday and a Tuesday night?? Also... what time is this event start and finish??

As it turns out, we will not be going to DLR this year. After much debate and insanity, we decided to wait until the Cars area is open and until I have enough vacation time an $ to do more than just DLR, since it's such a "bigger" vacation opportunity. I will be back to scope out everyones helpful hints for the future though!

Any suggestions for the dreaded TWEEN costume!?!??! My daughter is 11yrs (going on 20 hahaha) and I cannot seem to suggest a costume idea that she actually likes.... Now, we haven't told them we are going to Disneyland in October (Halloween party YAY!!) but I have been trying to throw out suggestions for Halloween in general.... it's tough! Obviously NO ONE is thinking about Halloween right now hahaha

Any suggestions?? She says she won't do the princess thing, no interest in a large dress I believe
I wonder if she knew it was for Disneyland if that would open her mind a bit, but I REALLY don't want to give away the surprise :confused3

Thoughts? Suggestions??

Thanks!!!

This will be our very first Disney Halloween, so we'll definitely be going to a party!

We're waiting to see which days are available for Halloween parties. We're counting down until July 1 (tickets go on sale for us lowly regular public). We'll be there October 1-7 (DD birthday on the 5th) and will likely pick the party closest to her birthday. She'll be going as Rapunzel (current favourite princess) but may change her mind once she actually knows where we're going. Still waiting to see what we can find for DH and myself for costumes as I never have time to make anything and don't know where we can buy before September.

We also will be going to MHP, but our only chance will be on the 31st because we don't arrive until the 29th, and I don't think they are doing it on the 30th are they? This will be our third time doing the party, but the first time doing it at DL! The first year we had seven adults plus our DD so she was snow white, and each adult had a different dwarf t-shirt. We had several compliments! This year will be tricky because she will be 10 (going on 20) but very much a tomboy, and she doesn't know we are even going!!! I will try and come up with suggestions, but last year she wanted to be a Buy More Girl from "Chuck", so not sure what this year will be. Either way I know we will have a blast!

Can I ask your opinion on dates...
If you could choose any MHP after Oct 4, which would you choose if you wanted the least busy time? We have decided to take a west coast road trip in Oct and low crowds are our TOP priority.

Also, will Disney Visa holders get an early option to buy?

Thanks!

specialks - Well, you know what this means! You have to wander over from the Christmas Superthread and join us in the Halloween Superthread!:rotfl2:

Since no one else answered yet, I'll jump in....

Disney Visa Holders can buy now at the same advance discount prices offered to DVC members and AP holders, I think. The tickets go on sale to everyone else on July 1st.

Well, as we discussed over in the Christmas thread, you know I can totally relate to the 'crowds' issue, and I know how much heavy crowds can affect or put a damper on a good time!

So out of these dates below (from wdwinfo.com), if I were trying to go to the MHP on a less crowded night after October 4th, I would choose Tuesday, October 11, Tuesday, October 18 or Tuesday, the 25th. More than likely I would narrow it down to 10/11 or 10/18. I would avoid all of the Friday parties and certainly avoid Halloween night.

We are going on Halloween. The boys want to be Clone Troopers, and since we always do a family theme, I get to be Leia and DH picked the old, dying Anakin/Darth Vader with his helmet off hahahaha.

They really want to use their voice-changing helmets. I know Disney's rule is that eyes must be visible. You can (barely) see their eyes through the helmet, but I would totally understand if they didn't let the boys wear them. In that case, the boys agreed that they would just carry them under their arms.

Obviously not with those shirts haha

Yeah, I peeked over there...:) I was on my phone and it was a little hard/frustrating to navigate all the pages & photos from a phone screen. When I have more time on my computer, I'll have to start plugging away at the thread. We actually experienced Halloween time some because we ended our 2009 Sept trip on the first day of Halloweentime. We were able to experience Ghost Galaxy on it's first year at DLR. Although my oldest hated it and was really sad because SM is one of her faves.

We were looking at taking advantage of the Kids Sail Free and going on a cruise in Nov but we have a family wedding in Edmonton in the fall and we decided to hold off on an expensive cruise. However, I have severe travel-i-tis and need to be researching and planning some kind of trip. So, we decided to go on a west coast road trip. Our girls love hotels and we are looking forward to seeing the redwoods and maybe even some vinyards. What better place to end than DLR for a quick 2 day visit and Halloween party! :)

How are you able to buy them? Do you go online somewhere?? I just don't know how to do it.

This confirms what I was thinking. I was looking at Oct 11 or 18th. I wasn't sure how much Columbus Day and Canadian Thanksgiving would affect crowd levels for the Oct 11th party.

This is the phone number to call and get the tickets with the Visa discount (or DVC or AP) in advance - 714-781-4400. I think they may charge a shipping fee, though, which could negate some of the discount. You can order them online, but I don't think you can use the Visa discount online?? (Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that.)

Between 10/11 and 10/18 - if I were trying to pick the day I thought would have the lowest party crowds - my guess would be that 10/18 would be better because it's smack dab in the middle of things. I could be totally wrong, but I think that's the one I would choose.

You're right - 10/11 may, possibly, have some leftover people who were there for the Columbus Day weekend and the Canadian Thanksgiving visitors. And, to me, when you get to 10/25, it seems like the closer it gets to Halloween, the busier it becomes. The week leading up to Halloween has been said to be very busy.

We are thinking of going to the first one on September 11th. I am still undecided about wearing a costume as it would take up room in my luggage. LOL

This year the first Halloween party at DLR is on September 30 (Friday). Did you mean Tuesday, October 11?

I just wanted to make sure you didn't show up at the parks in costume on the wrong day!:goodvibes

Ack, wrong resort and wrong date. 9/13 at Magic Kingdom. Oops.

Okay, I'm back. Sherry, after seeing that AZ fall break is Oct 11-15, do you think Oct 3 would be better than the 11th? Utah break & CHOC are around the 18th date. I know I originally said after Oct 4, but now I'm just thinking of low crowds.

Hmmm....possibly that 10/3 date would be better if the AZ break begins on 10/11. A Monday night party like the 3rd would be less crowded than a Friday night - that's for sure.

I found that when I went to DLR in early October in the past (like 10/2 - 10/5-ish), it was very crowded (but not so bad that I couldn't get into NOS!). But that was also a weekend, not an early weekday. And then when I went to DLR in late-ish October (like on 10/24), it was very, very crowded (more so than early October)!:rotfl2: That's why the middle time seemed nice and safe. But now the various school breaks seem to get closer to mid-month!

I can tell you that DLR must be anticipating higher crowds in the first half of October this year because the PIN code offer I just got for the DLR hotels is only good from 10/16 - 10/31. If they were low on bookings or if they anticipated low crowds for early October, they would have included those earlier weeks in the PIN code rates I got. So they must be thinking that the second half of the month will be less crowded in order to put out those rates.

In fact, now I am looking at possibly doing the MHP on 10/18 because of the offer I got!:rotfl2: I may have to choose 10/21 because it's a Friday and may be more convenient - even though it is not my first choice - but the 18th is now on my radar too!

specialks, we are also in Arizona and our school district is out from September 23 to October 16th, however our High Schoolers have to be back to school on October 10th. Disneyland is a popular destination for our fall break and from September 23 to October 9 is when a lot our district will be visiting :goodvibes.
