2011 Destashing Thread

Took some old door knobs and hinges to a friend that can use them in a room addition she is going to start this fall.

I had 3 trash bags of stuff I was gonna take here or there. I just threw it all out! Uh feel so much better!

I may have mentioned that we were going to do this before, but we didn't get around to it- DH recycled his huge collection of cardboard boxes, and we got some new baseboards put up after having them way too long! Packed up some more old sheets & blankets to go to the humane society as well as taking a bag to Goodwill! The destash continues....

I am not much of a stasher, but I have some things that I have held on to way to long and unless someone here screams "DON"T at me I am going to clear it out by the end of the week. Many years ago I bought about a dozen collectible Teddy Bears, all in the 100-150 dollar range. They have been hogging room on a basement shelf for over 10 years now, and I have no intention of ever doing anything with them. I have checked for years and they are basically unsellable on ebay, which I have never attempted to use anyway. I know I will not in anyway miss them if they are gone--I have just held on to them because of the amount of money they cost and it seems just nuts to dump them at the Salvation Army, but that is just what I am going to do unless someone has a better idea? I want that shelf space once and for all!

My & my mother's yard sale days are done, so tomorrow, the rest is going to Salvation Army. Money has been deposited. :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Maybe Children's Hospital, Cancer Center, Battered Women's Shelter or along those ideas? What child going through a rough time doesn't need a teddy bear to hug.

Heck, even a nursing home.

Thanks for the input, but they are more put on a shelf and look at bears--paritally wooden and overrall hard--not the hugging type.

Yard sale this weekend....my goal is to empty out the attic so that when I go up there all I see are clear totes with labels on them!!

The kitchen and diningroom have been filling up all week. We have so much junk all ready to go. A weight bench, a coffee table WITH the glass for the top, an old metal locker as big as I am, two cpus that need fixing but someone may want them for parts...eek!

Today I hauled down two flights of stairs......4 tube TV's, 2 computer monitors, an old tv stand, an old end table and some more boxes of junk that if they dont sell I sincerely hope I can make myself throw out.

Wish me luck!!

Slow and steady I continue my destashing.
Recently I have FINALLY been able to convince DH to get rid of his rutsacks (sp) from his army days. :thumbsup2 He has been out since Desert Shield/Storm :rolleyes1 Gave them to our son who was so excited to use them for camping.
This morning a took A LOT of paint, paint brushes, cookie cutters, glue and markers to work for when we have projects there. My manager was THRILLED with them. :goodvibes
Our youngest son threw away multiple trash bags of trash and clothes

Is anyone else still plugging away?:confused3

I was determined to work on it this week cause DH is out of town...but my furbaby died and I am just so heartbroken I can barely function. I am shocked that it is hitting me so hard.

Aw I'm so sorry about your furbaby.
They're such special members of the family, aren't they? Was yours a kitty or puppy? Hope your memories help comfort you. Big hugs :hug:

He was a ferret actually. But he acted like a puppy. He was wherever I was and always wanted to be snuggled. I just can't believe he's gone.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our bunny passed away on Saturday, so I totally understand how you feel. I'm in a funk and just can't get out of it since. Takes some time, I guess. Hugs to you. I'm really sorry.

Ours was Saturday too! But the vet accidentally left the message on my husband's work voicemail late at night so we didn't find out until this morning.

OMG, that makes it even worse. Ouch that hurts. I'm so sorry. It's such a difficult time anyway. I hope you find peace soon.

I'm so sorry for the losses of pets this weekend. :grouphug: We are a family of animal lovers & I understand how hard it is.

This morning I took a chair to a lady at work. She wanted to know how much, nope just get it out of my house! Last week I took a duffle and grocery size bag to work. Sent out an email "take what you want", people were so excited. Summer toys that we no longer use as our boys are too old for them, some travel plastic containers and some clothes. Just now I was able to destash a trash bag full of winter clothes that dont fit/no longer like and threw enough away to get rid of 3 cardboard boxes! Oh and we gave our largest suitcase that was mostly used for storage away to a family friend who is working out of state for the summer. :thumbsup2
What have you destashed lately?
