2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

Hi. This will be our first time staying at the Beach Club. We have a garden room. Can anyone suggest a room location to request? Any other tips? Thanks!

Elissa14, it's tough to make any suggestions without a little more information. Do you have kids? When are you going? What's important to you? Do you need a full balcony? Would you want to be close to an elevator or closer to Epcot? The experts here are full of suggestions, just give them a little more to work with and they will be happy to help. If you are doing a lot of SAB then you probably want to be close to the lobby. If you want to spend a lot of time at Epcot, I'd ask for that part of the resort which is farthest away from the lobby and elevators. Be sure that what ever you do, limit your request to what is really important to you and make sure you don't go with more than one or two requests. Good luck and have fun planning!

it is so fun to find this (huge) forum on Y&BC! We (myself, DW, DD18) will be staying at BCV from 5/30 to 6/6. It's only our 2nd trip to WDW, the last one in '06 when we were at OKW. We're hoping our stay at BCV will outshine that one, and that one was pretty magical!

A pleasure to meet you all. It's great to see the sense of community that is here.

:welcome:

Welcome aboard, Steve Trek! My family loves BCV and hope yours does, too. Want to make sure you know BCV villas are smaller than OKW. We think everything else more than makes up for that though. :cool1:

Praying today, Teena.

Ooooh! Does that mean that the people staying in a Garden View room get a green card, and the people staying in the "Pebble Beach" views get gray cards and people with parking lot views get black cards with white stripes?

That Marlton Mom, always thinking! :rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao::lmao:
I can see it now, people standing at the checkin desk, waiting with baited breath... and they are handed...wait....is that? Oh, it's the "cast member of the month view" card....:headache:

Good Morning

We are staying Yacht Club- Club Level- Garden View in September :hourglass .....I have a couple of questions:

1. Are there any CL GV rooms that have awful views?

2. It seems, from the pictures of the exterior, that the balconies are bigger (or have less obstructed views) with the CL LV rooms. Is this assumption correct?

Thank You.

Hi,
I am so excited to have found this thread - and just in time. We go to BCV in under 40 days (May 4). We have previously stayed at CBR and BWV, and can't wait to stay at the BCV. The information on here is great.
Thinking of all the people dealing with health issues and sending best wishes.

Welcome!! Lot of info here just with asking ...

E&B Mom's DH here: We booked a Garden View, so I assume that's what it was.

Sam Adams Seasonal (Noble Pils last week), Yuengling, Red Hook Longhammer IPA (my choice) and Bud Lite that I can remember. I think maybe Heineken and Bud Select or Mich Ultra were there too.

I had to sneak in that Yuengling is from my area!! I'm excited to hear they have it available! I know lots of people who leave this area and go out west and they BEG their friends to send them out Yuengling! lol!

Wow, that sounded like my 12 year old son!

As you are working on some of the other slideshows, I probably have a bunch of other photos I can share with you. I'll put them up on Photobucket. But not until I upload the link to the front page, of course. :)
I can always add photos to any slideshows without disrupting any links. I think I need to breakup BC and BCV now. I may have given you that link but hold on that one so I can get them separated.

...reminds me of that song... "Gotta keep'em separated!!

Oh wow! If I was upgraded from our GV to CL, I'm afraid they'd have to scrape me up off the floor!
In some other resorts I've been lucky enough to be upgraded to water, courtyard or savanna views. But never CL. We are never there for any big celebrations so.......
But I live in hope, lol.
Having said that, I'll be just happy to be at BC. A GV room will be just fine!
Honestly, I just very glad to be staying in GV at the YC myself. It is my "dream" resort. They kids are so excited, and that pumps me up even more!

Thinking and praying for you especially today Teena!!

Hi. Yes we have 2 boys (7 and 2) and are going at the end of Sept. I like to be close to everything :yay: We will be going to Epcot a few times as well as all of the other partks. We also plan to spend time at SAB. A full balcony sounds great too! I just wasn't sure if there was a location that people always request. We usually stay at Pop Century and definitely prefer certain locations that are close to everything but not noisy. So we always request them. It sounds like there aren't really Bad locations at the Beach Club?

Ah well. I've downgraded our view from Water to Garden -- but this enables us to stay 3 nights longer! :thumbsup2 My parents will be coming down for a few days at the start of our vacation to spend some time with us and the kiddo; everyone's quite excited. :goodvibes

One quick question for you BC experts: is there such a thing as GV rooms with full balconies? It's what I've put in for as a request, "full balcony"; I know that it's luck-of-the-draw with room requests, just want to make sure I'm actually requesting something that even exists. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest that to be true, that there really aren't any "bad" locations, just some "questionable" views if you are standard. Since you are GV that should not be the problem. With a 2 and 7 year old may I suggest first request would be a full balconey if you want to sit outside while the little one takes a nap or after they have gone to bed at night. If I were to put a second request on my reservation with that group, it would be close to lobby so that you have easier access to SAB and the buses. Not that being elsewhere is a handicap for those two items as the resort really is not that spread out. However, close to lobby might get you more hallway traffic. Again, not that there is a problem with that unless you get the incosiderate family that allows their overexhuberant young ones to run up and down the hallway in an effor to get them to burn off that excess energy. But then that can happen anywhere. Have fun planning. Sounds like you'll have a great time. And you are going at a really good time of the year. Make sure to use Dee's work on the first two pages of this thread to plan your activities at the resort. There are a lot of things to do there, especially after visitng the parks all day.

Based on the info you provided, my suggestion to you is to list "full balcony, please" as a request.

As far as the close to everything and less noisy: The bad news is, these are somewhat competing requests at the Beach Club- the closer you are to the elevators, lobby, SAB, the noisier it will tend to be (more people coming through). The good news is, I don't think it is unreasonably noisy anywhere, so I don't know that you need to make a request for a "quiet location". We had a room close to elevators in 2009, and it was fine.

I would think so. I don't know the percentage, but I know the ratio of full/standing balconies throughout the resort, all categories, is about 50-50.
