2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

Okay, so I emailed IPO on Monday afternoon, I think? Really I was just introducing ourselves, saying hello, etc. But I thought I would still get a reply, which I haven't received. I just emailed them again, with a question, so I am hoping I hear from them. Seems a bit odd to not hear anything back from them.

Did you get an auto reply saying they got the email? If not, you probably have the wrong email address.

Another boat question...

I know the BC/YC docks are not running right now and may not be this weekend when we arrive. However, are the BWI docks up and running? Say for DHS? The bus may be quicker to get there, but I wouldn't mind the boat on the way back and then a walk from BWI to BC.

Yes, the other docks are open (including Swan and Dolphin).

Yep, I got the confirmation email both times.

Like I said, I don't have any specific concerns or questions at the moment, but I hope we aren't just being pushed aside because we aren't asking for lots of things. I've always had amazing response time for the CL I've stayed at, including the BC.

Please add me to the December list. I am not a DVC member but I will be staying at a 1 bedroom villa Dec. 13-22. Thanks

Teena- hope your feeling better after your surgery and your not overdoing it.

I'm just curious, since you work for Disney do you get unlimited access to the parks for you and your DH at all times? or is this there a certain number of days that you get to go? because it sounds like you go to Epcot a lot.

Do you have a card to use to get into the parks or just your BC ID?
Do you get discounts for dining?

What do your family members get because you work there? do they get special pricing for admissions?

I am just curious about the benefits for CM- who knows maybe this will be in my future when my DH retires, since we visit twice a year anyway!!!!!

The dock has been there for 20 years. It needed a total overall and as far as I know they aren't changing anything, just fixing and replacing what is old.

The order for HS is: Y&B, S&D, HS.

Since from the BC there would be no reason IMO to take the boat to Epcot (5 minutes versus a possible 30 minutes), I have no idea of the order (I never use it for Epcot). The walk from the lobby of the BC to the International Gateway is shorter than the walk from the lobby to the boat dock. Then once you get to the boat dock, you could wait up to 25 minutes for the boat and then the boat goes so slow, even if it went right to Epcot, it would take at least another 10 minutes. If it stops at other resorts on the way, it could take well over 30 in the boat. And remember, the boat does not take you into Epcot, it takes you down the canal ... right past the end of the BC.

We have to get from HS to Epcot for lunch so we were thinking of getting off at BW if that is the first stop and walking from there

For the return trip (I'm sure we'll have a FP at HS for something) trying to think where to get off the Epcot boat and onto the HS. My luck I'll get on go to every hotel get on the HS boat go to every hotel AGAIN then onto HS. I could be on the boat for an hour.:headache:

I'm sure it would be faster just to walk back but post lunch, glass of wine and heat. Boat sounds better!

Now I'm intrigued! We had two rooms at BC CL that I would have THOUGHT would be classified as gv cl (with daybeds). They were 5636 and 5682. Can you tell me which room has switched categories - and what the new category is?

QUOTE]

5682 was changed to standard but they are trying to get it moved to garden which would up the garden view number!!

How crazy is this? We thought the 5682 room was the best gv room ever!
I wonder how soon everything will change? We booked a gv cl room but would gladly take the 5682 sv room even though we paid for a gv room. Unless of course they want to give us a lv cl room since we can't book one for ourselves. If my in-laws weren't coming with us I'd just on the deluxe cl room!

And here I thought the new categories would make everything easier!

Update - My mom has actually improved a little. We are still taking it day by day but yesterday and today I actually felt a little hopeful.

Teena - what day is your next surgery? - the 29th? I'll be thinking of you and praying for you.

Have no idea when the category for certain rooms will change, sorry.

Great news on your Mom!!!

We leave on Monday around 9 AM for pre-op testing at Mayo in the afternoon and then surgery is scheduled for Tuesday morning. We'll come home Wednesday.

The complete trip (minus waiting for the boat) from HS to EPCOT takes about 30 minutes. Catch the boat at HS, it will stop at S/D, Y/B, BWI and then right before the IG gateway of EPCOT. The return to HS should take about the same time, 30 minutes.

I guess that is an hour!!! But with the lunch for a break in between the two trips it won't be that bad. And hopefully you will have Mike from Lowell (and his trained duck) as your driver.

I remember the first time I took the boat from HS to EPCOT. It was during Tropical Storm Faye. We had dinner reservations at the Cape May that night, but my son was sick for a lot of that trip. We were soaked from our day at HS, so Mark and the boys decided to go back to our room at All Star Music (before I had seen the light and found the best resort on property), we cancelled our dinner reservation :sad1:, but there was no way I was going to have ANOTHER meal from the ASMu food court.

I hopped onto the boat, got takeout from Morocco and Japan, walked to the front of EPCOT, took a bus to ASMu. Time for my takeout trip was about an hour and a half. So totally worth it.

Absolutely worth it! Tangerine's combo platter is THE best CS meal and in the top 25% of all meals at WDW. There was an old poll on the resaurant board that had it at the top for years.

Good luck and God Bless Teena.

Oooh, I hadn't thought of that.

I wonder, has anyone ever done that for a lunch pickup and eaten it around SAB? (can you even bring food in?:confused3 )

The proximity of so many fantastic counter service restaurants is one of the big draws of the BC for us. On the way back from MK, you can stop at Sunshine Seasons (I recommend the roasted beet and goat cheese salad) or it is simple to make a quick trip to the World Showcase and get some sushi from Japan, anything from Morocco or one of the yummy sandwiches from France and take it back to the resort for some downtime.

We did a Moroccan/French take out last summer and ate back in our room. The bakery in France would not sell us a creme brulee unless we promised to eat it at the restaurant (it was too hot to travel). But the mousse was good.

Two Takeout Tips:

Most of the restaurants don't have large carry sacks, so you should BYOB- bring your own bag. The Ziploc big bag that I mentioned for Kali at AK works great to carry takeout containers. No, I don't have stock in Ziploc.

As long as you are going by the French pavillon anyway, might as well stop for a slushie!

I don't know if you can bring food to the pool, but I don't see why not. You can eat the meals you get from Hurricane Hanna's there.

Hi! I posed this question on the resorts board, but didn't get an exact answer. Hopefully one of you pros can help me. We're planning another Grand Gathering for April 2012. The biggest arguement we have is where to stay. Our youngest brother has only one request, a marina to rent boats. We've done Wilderness Lodge, Coronado Springs and Port Orleans, would LOVE to stay at Beach Club. But I read on a photo of a sign that the only boat rental discount Y&BC honors is DVC. We are passholders, we always get a percentage off of boat rentals, and when you're renting ten sea-racers, that discount really helps! I know, babbling, but can anyone confirm that Beach Club honors the passholder boat rental discount? Thanks :goodvibes
