So as some of you know, I made my theatrical debut over the weekend as the Cook in a Monty Python-style version of The Canterbury Tales.

I just want to let you know that it went very well!

I think my husband was more nervous than I was, especially after I told him that I am up on stage alone, and I am basically ad-libbing most of my part. We have been married for 25 years and I have never been up on stage.

Mark can be my harshest (and most honest) critic, and I am pleased to say that he really enjoyed the play and my performance. A couple of my friends in
front of the house were watching Mark, watching me, and they said he was in shock!

Ben did great in his roles, and he noticed and commented proudly about the laughs he received!

3 shows down, 2 to go!

Made it through the first day of work. Only had to take my pain meds around 1 PM. My one boss said he was coming out to see me at 2 PM to make sure I wasn't doing silly things in the lobby after taking the meds - he was really concerned even though I told him the pills didn't make me loopy. So when he came out later, a guest I knew really well was walking in the door so I said to him, "Sir, welcome to Pop Century". My boss didn't know what to do ... funniest look on his face and the guest came up to me and said, "darn, I thought I was at Allstars Music". He played right along ... it was great. I finally had to tell my boss I was close friends with the guest ... don't think he thought it was that funny. The guest and I enjoyed ourselves though.

What view do the standard 5th floor CL roooms have?

We stayed in this room category a couple years ago (our first time at BC!) We did indeed have a view of the parking lot, or rather the roof and some trees. We could also see a lot of the port cochere (is that what its called? where the cars pull up?) In the distance I could see some of SE and the Land. I vaguely remember seeing bits and pieces of fireworks off in the distance...maybe MK?

Here was our view from CL Standard View Room 5670 :

We go in, open the curtains and see…

This tree blocked our view of the BC parking lot.

The best part of this room was that we had a view of some of the Illuminations fireworks and an awesome view of the MK fireworks show in the distance.

Teena,
Well your boss may not have thought it was funny, but I laughed!

BTW, thank you sooo much for the information you just sent me! Who knows maybe I could be that lucky one to get the one and only king sv cl! I doubt it, but I will still put a request in for it.;)

Thanks again, Sondra

You are very welcome. I'm heading off for another day of fun at the BC or Pop Century or whatever ... depends on what time I take my pain meds.

I can just imagine the look on your boss's face, a real Kodak moment

Page 1 Guest Lists updated (I think)

Mike- I added Kirsnikity (7/25-8/20), Mitch in GA (8/5-14) SondraC (8/14-21) and OThopeful (8/14-22) since your last post. Your months are VERY busy!!!

Again, if you want to be on the list and you are not there, or if your info is wrong, please post here and I will make the update. Eventually.

I feel like I should introduce myself, since you're going to be seeing a LOT of me over the next year and a half.

I'm Alice, and I'm a high school math teacher on Long Island. My last two trips were theraputic; I did lots and lots and lots of late night research when I couldn't sleep and was afraid to research Breast Cancer.

This trip, however, is all about fun. I'm just doing the research because I'm a teeny bit neurotic and get such a kick out of it.

We'll be going mid-summer 2012. (My husband is also a high school teacher-- he teaches English.) So we'll be saving every penny and hoping for a Pin Code or the 4/3 deal or something, and counting the days until the prices come out in August and we can make reservations :)
Welcome Alice! Your post caught mostly because you're a teacher from NY! My SIL, and 2 BILs are both teachers (well, one in Vegas). It's so much fun planning a trip, and this thread is wonderful!!!

OK, just for the sake of argument:

Yacht Club or Beach Club, and why?

I'm thinking Beach Club, simply based on location. Tired kids coming home from Illuminations, and the Beach Club is closer to Epcot.

But there HAS to be a reason why people opt for the Yacht Club. Anyone care to share?
I see answers were posted. I have my reasons for liking YC over BC. I love the guarantee of a balcony. I love being picked up on the bus before BC. I love the decor. I love the location...oh sure, it's not as close to Epcot, but in my opinion, it's not THAT much further. Plus, the YC had always been my "dream resort" since our honeymoon when we couldn't afford to go there and I vowed we would someday. That someday came, and is coming again! :cloud9:

Natebenma - congratulations!!! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Teena - I wish I could have seen your boss's face - you are a card!

To everyone who is keeping our family in their thoughts and prayers thank you so much. I am getting ready to head up to the hospital now. I'll keep you all posted.

Teena - here's an assignment for you whenever you feel like snooping around! I was just wondering how many gv cl rooms have daybeds. We loved our room so much last year that I'm hoping there are not that many gv cl rooms with daybeds to increase our chances of getting the same room!
It's a gamble I know but who knows we might get lucky again if there aren't that many rooms in that category that sleep 5!

Amanda - hope your mom is doing well.

I'm having visions of you jumping on the king bed. No wonder they hide them from the staff! Besides, it's much more fun to jump back and forth between the 2 queen beds.

Awesome! If Boston weren't over a 5-hour drive, I'd be there to see you.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: That really cracked me up, especially with your boss not "getting it".

Another plus for the YC is it's proximity to the S & D and I enjoy the restaurants there.

It is also closer to the BW and I love the little bar in the BW lobby.

We stayed in the Beach club and thought we preferred it over the Yacht Club because of thee decor, but then last time all of the standard view rooms at Beach Club were taken, so we went with the Yacht Club. We loved it! It's amazing (and not sure why it is), but the lobby is much quieter. Actually, all the areas around the Yacht Club are quieter. We are just two adults, no kids, so we appreciate that.
A downside would be that the marketplace is in the BC and the BC is closer to Epcot, so when we have kids, we may choose the BC over YC ...

Well, if you get transferred to Pop Century you'll know why!..... and you know that we would all follow you over there, even during one of those Cheer Leading conventions, where packs of pom-poms roam the grounds and break out in cheer 24-7! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

PS. Better be careful, if you get too (not) loopy on those meds they might figure out it's you who has been jumping on the king beds!

The balcony was the decision maker for us. I really enjoy a balcony to go out and have a cup of coffee in the am or relax with a glass of wine in the evening.

Checking in at BC on Saturday morning!!!!! Teena if you are working we should arrive around 10:00 am. :cool1:

What are the hours for the RAC desk in the Beach Club?

My mom and I are checking in Saturday as well! Can't wait. Probably arriving around 12, but maybe later if we decide to stop at IKEA first (they have an end table I want and you cannot get it online).
