Ugh! I need to stop reading this thread. After making a huge leap a few days ago and upgrading from POFQ to standard BC, now I want to upgade to CL! We did it on our last visit to BC (Summer 2009) but only for 2 nights. I'm trying to figure out if its worth the extra cost...I know we'd use the breakfast for sure. The pre-planning is done. Hmmm....thoughts?

Ughhh I hear ya! I've stayed CL at poly and CR but didn't book it for my BC stay in June. Figured I wouldn't eat $100 worth of breakfast each day and I don't drink...so opted to not do club. Love the clubs though- always nice to grab a snack in the lounge!

Few questions, Doing a sweet 16 trip for DD in 2012, I asked her what resort and she said BC, very suprising since we have never been, but we have Cape May ADR this Sept so that will help..

1)GV CL what should I request? I have never been, would really like a balcony.

2)the CL rooms all together in a special building like Poly or not?

3)Also the bus is the only way to MK right?

Hi bluejasmine!

CR fan already addressed your questions, but I just wanted to add our favorite fun way from BC to MK and back - the monorail!

It may not be the fastest route and it won't work if you don't have park hoppers, when you want to get to MK before Epcot opens or when you leave MK after Epcot closes. Under those circumstances, the only Disney transportation is the bus. I know that Dee (natebenma) has additional information from her family's races, so she can comment on the timing.

If you have park hoppers and you're going to MK after Epcot opens or coming back before Epcot closes, the monorail is a fun alternative! From BC to MK, we walk through the Epcot International Gateway, grab a snack (or a slushie in France), maybe do a Kim Possible mission and make our way to the monorail. And sometimes we just walk straight through. From MK to BC, if MK closes before Epcot (especially when Epcot has evening EMH) we love taking the monorail. We can catch Illuminations, grab a dessert or snack and walk right out the International Gateway to our BC room. Again, it may not be the fastest but it's more festive than the bus!

It's the convenience, you know? We definitely use the breakfast so I priced it out and it'd be about $60 for the breakfasts we normally eat over 4 mornings. Then I figured 2 sodas per person per day, plus a couple glasses of water on the way back to the room...about $80 for our stay. We'd definitely eat the desserts if we are at the resort during that time since we like our night time snacks, and we usually are back at the resort by then so thats a few extra bucks...Appetizers I could see us taking advantage of as well, since our big meals are all lunch. We could do apps and then a light dinner wherever we go that evening...Plus having people there to help us get things planned, answer questions if something pops up. Hmmm...now I'm leaning towards club level even more!

Teena,
Well your boss may not have thought it was funny, but I laughed!

BTW, thank you sooo much for the information you just sent me! Who knows maybe I could be that lucky one to get the one and only king sv cl! I doubt it, but I will still put a request in for it.;)

Thanks again, Sondra

Uh oh there is only one CL SV king? I too am hoping we get that room for our May trip. It doesn't sound like the odds are not very good though. :rotfl:

Stay strong! I also think about Disney when I am being put through those kind of tests. I don't do Yoga but I imagine the number that those radiology tables do on my back would be a lot like what it would feel like for me to do Yoga!

~ MM

That's too funny you mentioned Yoga cause I was doing my breathing during the spinning feeling...:rotfl: Luckily I was on my stomache, I can't imagine if I had to la on my back.

I just got off the phone and I have my 2nd opinion @ Dartmouth scheduled for the 2nd week of April.

I can't wait for Thursday and book all my ADR's:woohoo::yay::banana::woohoo: I have a lot of new restaurants but I have a lot of old ones too...Just trying to decide if I want to attend one or two nights at MNSSHP...Oh boy how I wish Epcot did something like that so we could just walk back to the YC, then I would definately go 2 nights!

Teena -I hope you are feeling good
Robyn & Amanda-I hope your moms' are doing better

I don't have a definitive answer for you- I think we checked in bags around 7 am the past two years we were at BC. We had 8 AM ME bus pickup. I don't know what time the desk actually opens.

I think I have heard that the desk closes, PROMPTLY, at 1 PM, but hopefully someone else can confirm this information.

Thanks.

So that would mean if your flight out was later than 4pm, you wouldn't be able to use RAC, correct? I heard you can only check bags with RAC within 3 hours of your flight time - which seemed odd to me sine since DME usually picks you up at that 3hr mark.

I called ME ( 1-866-599-0951 ) since we booked a rather early flight home and I was concerned about RAC and ME, what I was told was RAC opens at 5 am & closes at 1 pm. You can check your luggage in at RAC up to 12 hours in advance of your flight time, but you MUST check it in at least 3 hours prior to your flight time

Long time lurker here! We just switched from POR to the Beach Club and will be there May 29 to June 6! This trip is extra special as it is our son's Wish Trip from the Sunshine Foundation of Canada and we will also be celebrating his 9th birthday. I am looking forward to reading along and getting to know everyone!!

I think it all depends on how many in your family and your eating habits as to whether CL is worth the cost. We were upgraded to CL the year we stayed at YC there were four of us and my DS's both went to the lounge in the afternoon when we returned to the room but DH and myself never even went up there.
We prefer a nice full breakfast rather than continental style so we never went up in the mornings and we do not drink so for us to pay for CL would be a waste I feel.
IPO is a nice perk but I would just as soon book my own ADR's and while turn down service is nice , it is not why I go on vacation.

Teena or anyone-
Can you tell me when AP rates come out for rooms only for Nov, based on past years?
I know no one knows the exact date, but what month- so I can start calling to see if I can get a AP rate on my already booked room.

AP rates have been released REALLY late this year  As of now they are only out to June 2nd.

I wouldn't count on November being out till late August, early September.

Good points...it is just my mom and I on this trip, and we are really wanting it to be a more relaxed feel. Like I said, we definitely would do breakfast and afternoon snacks in the lounge and I think we would make time to have some appetizers and a drink in the evening depending on our plans. I know I'm not going to eat x amount of food cost wise, but I also understand that I'm paying for the convenience and luxury of it all as well. Which during what seems to be super crowded times, I think we'll enjoy having that lounge available. But I will keep you all posted...I know you're all on the edge of your seat

I am!!!! On the edge of my seat that is :rotfl: I am a BIG fan of CL. I love it.. I have 10 nights booked for November... 4 of those nights are DVC at AKL CL and 6 are at YC on the Platinum plan... with that plan you get A LOT of food, IPO and turn down.... it's like CL but not on the 5th fl... We'll even have the gold key... and I'm still saying why can't we stay CL?!?! It's just me loving the whole CL thing, but it won't be happening for the 6 nights platinum... sigh only because my DD is like Mom you don't need it and its kind of pointless since we basically get the same stuff... so sad :upsidedow:sad1:

Anyway keep me posted... don't wanna fall off my seat :rotfl::rotfl:

Natebenma - congratulations!!! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Teena - I wish I could have seen your boss's face - you are a card!

To everyone who is keeping our family in their thoughts and prayers thank you so much. I am getting ready to head up to the hospital now. I'll keep you all posted.

Teena - here's an assignment for you whenever you feel like snooping around! I was just wondering how many gv cl rooms have daybeds. We loved our room so much last year that I'm hoping there are not that many gv cl rooms with daybeds to increase our chances of getting the same room!
It's a gamble I know but who knows we might get lucky again if there aren't that many rooms in that category that sleep 5!

Amanda - hope your mom is doing well.

I'll get that answer for you but I can tell you there are only 9 club level garden view rooms to begin with.

I love this thread and the people subscribed to it.

I just want to say that last summer when I was trying to determine whether or not I should go ahead and go on my vacation planned for August after my father was diagnosed with lung cancer, I received so much support from my YC/BC family that I decided to go ahead and celebrate my DS10 birthday at WDW. My father then passed away two days before Christmas, we buried him on Dec. 28 and after returning home the next day I was sitting around and picked up the computer and logged on to the Disboards. Fifteen minutes later I had a trip booked for the next day through Jan 2.

Some people would think that was odd, but I found comfort in it. My DH, DS22, DS10 and myself spent New Year's night at California Grill; bought an expensive bottle of champagne and toasted the life of my dear father. It was a moment I will cherish in the middle of a very bad time.

My warmest wishes go out to those who are facing obstacles and hurdles in their lives right now. We are here. Love you all!

Nettie
