You might have more flexibility in getting walk up lunch ADR's, but are you going during one of the free dining promotions? While the parks might not be as crowded in September, the TS restaurants are PACKED!

Some lunch places that we like- The Plaza at MK, Rose & Crown Dining Room, San Angel Inn & Chefs de France in EPCOT, Sci Fi & 50's Prime Time in DHS (both for atmosphere only, the food is average), and sadly, we don't care for much at AK (Yak & Yeti is OK in a pinch). DTD- we like Earl of Sandwich (CS place). Lunch at the resorts- we like Kona at the Poly & B&C at the YC/BC.

HTH!

Oh no! I had no idea what these free dining plans were, and it looks like we are going to be there during the promotion. Crud.

Ok then Jiko, Yachtsman, and I told my hubby to pick another Epcot place he'd like to try.

Thank you for all your help!

Teena - sending good thoughts and hope you are feeling better.

doccoc2002 - sending good thoughts your way too!

natebenma - good luck and break a leg (I shouldn't even JOKE about that!)

I am quoting you too- I am also sending good thoughts to Teena and doccoc2002 and to YOU! I hope everything is going ok for your mom and your family!

Thanks for the traditional theatre wishes. That IS hilarious coming from you!

Do you want to hear something sad? I had to write my own program shoutout from my husband- it said "Break an egg!" Get it?

We really could do both, I feel that might be getting into the "overplanning aspect, though". We have the following on our list for the concierge to book next Monday:

San Angel Inn
Le Cellier
Victoria and Alberts
Bistro de Paris
O'hana

Perhaps I should make the ADR for Jiko and just request the CL find a table for us on one of our free nights since we are staying at the YC? I know that might be a gamble, but if I plan dinner every night we're there he might strangle me.... or at least cut me off from Disney websites. :goodvibes

I agree with everyone else, go ahead and make an ADR for every night. It's better to have them and then cancel the ones you don't need than be scrambling as time gets closer and ending up eating something you didn't want. I'd recommend booking Jiko as well as YSH, then decide later. ;)

Thanks everyone for the prayers...Thanks for the updates on Teena...I'm glad Teena is home safe and sound

Not feeling great today. More pain than yesterday and my throat is scratchy. The pain meds make me so sleepy. Slept pretty good last night in my chair. Hopefully tomorrow I'll start feeling better.
Get lots of rest and I'm glad your home! I hope your results come back with good news and no more surgery for you.
Wanted to add something else to my "story". Just started receiving the insurance company's statements of what they paid. I assumed the Mayo Clinic would be significantly higher in price for their mammos, MRI's, ultrasound, etc. Nope!!! They charged about one-third less than Orlando Health (South Lake Hospital) and their doctors. Unbelievable! Superior service plus their charges are sooooo much less. Bob is walking around like a proud rooster ... chest is out ... so funny! He doesn't hesitate to tell everybody he made me go to the Mayo Clinic!

That is so funny...my DH would be doing the same thing! It is amazing that a place that specializes in this would be cheaper than a local hospital. I bet it's because they either get more Grant money(or something similar). they definately can spread cost over more patients with the same medical situations. If that makes any sense at all:rotfl: Can you tell I haven't been sleeping...I feel like I am just blab...blab...blab:rotfl:

Hi Jenneth! I'll add my two cents on the dining issue. First, so glad you are making the ADRs, as others suggested. Le Cellier is one of our favorites (I see you already have that on the list!) and we also love California Grill. We love California Grill even more when taking a taxi there and back!

Just a thought on San Angel - we LOVE mexican food - my husband (and both of his parents) are Mexican so we cook and eat quite a lot of mexican at home and we have a wide variety of local mexican restaurants. We've been to San Angel in the past, but we just tried La Hacienda last month. We loved everything about La Hacienda - the atmosphere, the view and the food was great. My husband said it now rivals Le Cellier for his favorite WDW restaurant. So just a thought if you are considering San Angel.

And if you're looking for a good lunch spot, Via Napoli was great (but you'll need an ADR.)

pixarmom- Flying Fish may very well be my family's "new favorite" :thumbsup2 We tried it in November for the first time since our honeymoon MANY moons ago and loved it!!!!

Sadly, my upcoming trip is a Mommy and me trip, so we are skipping all the siggie dinners (except Le Cellier since the bday boy specifically requested that one for his actual birthday dinner).

I know how that goes - when we did a short weekend trip for our pre-schooler's birthday in January, we were non-signature and very character meal heavy! Love that your birthday boy requested Le Cellier for his birthday dinner! :)

I think we're pushing it a bit with three signatures in three nights and three boys! We've always had good luck in the past - the older two are pre-teens and enjoy the signatures while our pre-schooler tends to either fall asleep or eat a bit and then fall asleep. Really looking forward to trying these new places - good to hear about Flying Fish!

Thank you! I'll be completely honest, the reason we are having dinner at San Angel on our first night is because it was my father's favorite Disney restaurant when I was growing up, and he sadly passed away this January at 55. I just felt like we had to eat under that pyramid in honor of him. Especially since my love of WDW is because of my dad! (He worked for Kodak and they used to send us free passes every year... I had no idea as a kid how spoiled I was!!!)

I'm glad you mentioned La Hacienda... I was wondering how it stacked up overall. Perhaps we will make lunch plans there one of our days at Epcot! Anyplace with a great mole dish......

Unfortunately things are NOT going great for my Mom. She was doing better and was in a rehab hospital but started running fevers, swelling of the legs, chill and she needs blood again. She was rushed back to the regular hospital on Friday.

Thank you all for keeping us in your prayers too.

I just said to DH - I really need to be back in my happy place.

Here's a funny story. Dh is usually much more frugal (can you say cheap?) than I am. I was telling him last week that since his parents are coming with us the first week we could have saved over $900 it we stayed AKL CL instead of BC CL. It only sleeps 4 so we could only do it for the first week of our vacation. DH said he would rather spend the extra money and stay at BC CL the whole time. I said who are you and what have you done with my husband?

OMG, so hard to believe that we will be checking in this Saturday. I am so looking forward to it!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. My dad is the reason for my love of Disney, too! He's a huge fan of WDW and DL and introduced me to my hero Minnie for the first time at DL when I was two years old. So special to spend your first night at San Angel in honor of your dad.

My husband and I are staying at the YC club level for our 3rd anniversary from September 17 - 25th. I think I'm driving him insane as I keep on researching things to do months in advance.

I did have a question, though, or rather an opinion. We are planning on having a spa day, heading to the GF for most of the monring, then relaxing by the pool the remainder of the day and avoiding the parks altogether.

I was considering just making reservations at the Steakhouse at the YC, but someone also recommended Jiko. My question is this - is it worth leaving the resort on a relaxing day to do dinner at AKL, or is the Steakhouse on site just as good?

Thanks so much!

Jenneth

I'd go with the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Hey there everyone!

Just back from 9 nights at WDW, 8 of them spend at the BC. It was my husband and I and this is our 4th visit to WDW in 3 years. I want to give a brief report and then later on I will post pictures of our room and the view.

We really wanted to stay at BC because of the proximity to EPCOT. We find that when we are at WDW 1/2 of our time is spent there. We really love drinking and eating our way around the world. So BC it was so that we had the shortest commute possible!

Our room was on the 4th floor, garden view, with a partial water view and side view of the slide at stormalong bay. I think our room number was 4571 (but I will check that later!) The room was insanely large and had a double sink INSIDE the bathroom which is atypical of the rooms that I have at at BC and BCV's over the year. We also had a king sized bed and a wet bar with a sink in the living area. We also had a full balcony rather than the smaller "juliet" balcony. So all wishes were fulfilled! We were also able to check in around 9am. We had stayed at the WL the night before as our package didn't start until the next am.

Here are the pros: 1) Teena- she is as lovely in person as she is in writing. Thanks for the hospitality and for taking the time to welcome us. 2) the pool. We hardly ever spend time at the pool in March when we usually go for Spring training. Most of the time the weather is too cold. But it was perfect this time and the pool staff was doing a great job keeping out people that were not staying there. That is much appreciated. 3) Beaches and cream- I had too much ice cream there this trip. TOO MUCH!

here are the cons: 1) the construction- Too much construction was happening during such a peak time at WDW. The parks were PACKED due to LA Spring Break and the cheerleader stuff. Why would BC then decide to have painting going on outside my window by 8am every morning and leave all the construction equipment outside my window all week? It really was loud and messy. Not cool. 2) the construction at the docks- we were unable to use the boat docks at BC/YC all week due to ongoing construction. OK so yeah, you can walk to the Boardwalk and EPCOT. But I am here to tell you, I would NOT walk all the way to HS. That my friends is a long walk. So we had to walk to one of the other stops and then get on the boat from there. it was an inconvenience and I wished that it was not happening while we were there.

So that's it. I will post the pictures as soon as I load them on flicker.

Sorry about the construction. Unfortunately, there is no good time to do it and it is not suppose to start (the noisy part) until 9 AM. We stayed at the Grand Floridian during a year long rehab like that and it is a pain but it's the only way to keep the Disney resorts totally up to the high standards we are accustomed to. It's going to be like this for a while. Also, this is the first time in over 15 years since we've had to do rehab on the boat dock. We did run buses to and from HS so that was the way most people went.

I'm glad you got to enjoy SAB and the weather was good for you!

woodleygrrl, thanks for the report! Sounds like an overall great stay with good weather! Too bad about the construction. (Although I love the walk to DHS and I'm always lobbying the rest of my family to walk, so the boat dock construction would have sealed the deal for me!) Can't wait to see the photos! :)

P.S. We're heading to D.C. (home for me growing up) and Williamsburg at the end of next week during our kids' spring break - hope you brought that warm weather home with you!

Nice and warm here. About 60 today! Cherry blossoms are just starting to come out, as are the crowds! Make sure that you make dinner reservations if you need them. I am the worlds (self-proclaimed) authority on all things eating here in my city. If you need a recommendation, let me know!

Jennifer

Yipee! We are in the single digits. We check into the YC next week!!!! Hope everyone is doing well. Have a good week everyone. I hope it goes by FAST!

Robyn sorry to hear about the down turn with your mom :grouphug:

Woodleygrrl Sounds like you really lucked out on the room! We have a GV room booked. At first I thought, oooo, hope we get that room till I read about it being a King bed  I'm going with my adult daughter, so we'll want our own beds :)

I hope the consutuction on the dock is done by Aug. Although we enjoyed the walk from DHS to BC in Jan. (to scope out resort for Aug visit) I don't think I'd love it in Aug

Does anyone know what time Boardwalk Joe's opens? I love to get up early sometimes and get a good coffee while the others are asleep. I am a sissy coffee drinker - lattes and the like. I am semi-addicted to Starbucks so this place looked like the nearest thing to the Beach Club for the AM fix.

The refurbishment schedule shows the boat dock being refurbed through 3/24. Does anyone know if that is still the schedule or has it been extended? TIA
