2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

This is a little off topic but it's relevance lies with those who have recently been to the Magic Kingdom or those who will soon be going.

I know they have moved Mickey's meet and greet to the Town Square Exposition building so my question is this... Do they still have those rockers out in the front of this building on the porch?

This is my absolute favorite place to hang after the parks close and I'm waiting for the tired masses to clear from the bus lines back to the resorts. Keep in mind I'm in no hurry to leave so I get there just about the time that some of the rockers are empty and I love to watch the stragglers like myself mosey on out of the park after a Looong day.

I'd be CRUSHED if they took away those rockers to make room for the thundering herds waiting to see Mickey at this new location. In fact I might be tempted to fashion an Adirondack chair out of straws and park maps if they no longer have these rockers there!

Does anyone remember seeing them still there? Lemme know!

Take a tip from yer ole Marlton Mom. If they're still there, grab a rocker and save your tootsies from that terrible wait in the epic bus lines that form at park closing. There is nothing like watching the Kingdom fall asleep at night as the guests wander out.

I was just there the end of Feb. and they are doing work on Exposition Hall so the front has those fake walls in front of it. If I am remembering correctly there is no room for the rockers right now because of the walls.

Thanks for the update! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hopefully they will put 'em back when construction is done but now I'm not so sure....

Can anyone give me some details about this option at the MP. Toppings, etc. Is it still considered a snack option? How long is the line at 8:00 am??

Thanks

Yay! A question I can answer. I was rather disappointed when we were there in February. Unless I was sorely missing something, I did not see this. There were yogurt parfaits already made up in the "case", but nothing where you could mix your own. They were still good. Just had some fruit I don't particularly care for. Now, if someone tells me the bar was there and I just didn't see it ... well, I guess that means I just have to go back!

Yes, unfortunately the made to order parfaits are no longer offered. It was never a self service bar. Rather the CMs would make it to your specifications...no granola, all strawberries, etc.. Now they are premade and inside the CMs case.

8 am seems to be the time the Marketplace gets busy in our experience so I try to get down before that. It's still not bad at 8 but just easier earlier.

I've been sending the leprechaun or shamrock ring to posters who frequent the FAQ but know some don't want it and others probably do. If anyone would like either, shoot me a PM and I'll send it to you. :grouphug:

Hope you both did great with surgery and the biopsy on Wednesday.

I know, I should be posting this in the restaurants thread....but I like your guys opinions better!! hehe!

I'm trying to figure out how long to plan for our ADR's at various places. Can anybody give me a guess at how long I should set aside for each type of meal? We have Signature Dining, Table Service and 2 Character Buffets.

I was guessing about an hour for each, maybe 1.5 for the signature?

Thanks!!

How disappointing about the yogurt parfaits! Of course I still miss the gelato in the case - not the ready made one.

Thanks for the shamrock but as you know I'm computer illiterate and can't get it in my signature!!!!

I am bummed about the parfait bar, too!!!

And BCV23- thanks for the leprachaun link. My signature is already a tad cluttered :rolleyes1 but I have added the the guy to the March guest list in the front.

Those times sound just about right. I would add on maybe 15 minutes to both estimates if you are going during a busy time of the year in case you are not seated immediately, but your estimates are great for the actual dining time.

So sad, about the yogurt parfait, I guess we will just eat cereal in the room.

Thanks for the update.

Darn, we were looking forward to having the option of customizing our yogurt for breakfast.

Glad someone here mentioned the Gelato, last year we visited the Marketplace and I couldn't find it anywhere, only the premade containers. I thought I was crazy..............now I know the truth!!!

And the truth is, I AM crazy!!! No just kidding, or maybe not...

I am trying to decide if I should order groceries for my trip. I'm looking for a menu for the Marketplace to see what they offer but I can't find one. Does anyone know what they have for breakfast? (i see they have yogurt :thumbsup2)

Two questions on the Marketplace, and please excuse if they have been answered before. We stayed at BC a year and a half ago, but I didn't really go into the Marketplace.

1) So, does the yogurt-in-the-case-not-freshly-made still count as a snack credit? What else can you get for a snack credit at breakfast? Do they have a good cappuccino in the am (not just Nescrape)?

2) I see there's a cheese omelet croissant and a ham and cheese omelet croissant, are there any choices that are more like a plate and not a sandwich?

We're booked at the YC in a GV room. Which side are these rooms located? I know they will have a garden view, but what does that mean? Do all of them have a full balcony?

Also, to Teena, the lady that answers questions here and works at BC - I hope everything is going well! Thanks for posting so much information. We're sending good vibes your way! :goodvibes

Thanks. I saw this link but I am looking for something other than pastries and fruit for breakfast. Do they have breakfast platters or breakfast sandwiches... that kinda thing?

Check out page one, post four for a link and some great pictures of what the Marketplace has.
Thanks Katesdad for the link. I saw this link and the pics are great! I was wondering if Marketplace offers breakfast platter like most other counter service restaurants or is it just pack and go items?

Thanks!
I hope Teena's surgery went well!

I'm not one to tell things about myself but when Teena came out and wrote that it was more of a educational(so people would check/re-check) it really hit home. She is right and if you tell people what your going through it may hit home for them and save/help them...Just wanted to say Thanks Teena!!!!

Biopsy went good a little painful...expected it but i could feel a little when they cut and put the needle in. Other than that it was fine...waiting for Tuesday.

Hope you are feeling well Teena!:grouphug::grouphug:

I haven't seen any platters- just the individual sandwiches or omlettes. Lots of different pastries. And then the grab and go items.

I would love to see more counter service meal options. When we stayed at the Beach Club in July 2009 they were offering a counter service breakfast at Beaches & Cream on a trial basis and it was great! People complained though. Someone always complains! And they stopped serving it and haven't reinstated it. :sad2:

Thanks natebenma!! I am one of those planner types and with a 2 year old, planning around nap times is key!!

We tried to get YC for our dates in June but had no luck. I was able to get BC. I booked a GV Club level room. There will be five of us this year for the first time. So I really need the daybed. I do not want a roll away bed. The CM who made our reservation assured me since we were a family of five we would get a room with a daybed. However I noticed on the WDW website under the room descriptions, Standard Club Level shows rooms with a daybed. But GV Club level does not give an option with a daybed. Does anyone know if the GV Club Level rooms at the BC have daybeds?:)
