So I have a ressie at WL for 8 nights, free dining.

I can move to BC with the current room only discount, pay for the DP and it costs $1000 more.

This if for 2 rooms and 7 people.

Question: do you think the BC is $1000 better than the WL? Why or why not?

Many thanks for anyone who cares to share an opinion!!! :grouphug:

You didn't say the ages of your party or time of year so here is generalization>>

Stayed in both. Love both. Two favorites (and we've about done them all).
My opinion....I love the WL lobby. To get up in the morning and get a cup of coffee and just sit and watch the place come to life is wonderful. To hear the water running out of the lobby and the WL music. Ahhhh.

BC is more about location and pool. Light airy feeling. Walk or boat to HS. Being able to walk over to EPCOT and grab lunch or stroll over for Illuminations and not fight a crowd is wonderful. Walk over to BW and have dinner and music. At BC you have 40 plus restaurants within walking distance. And just look at the front page for pool information. A small water park unto itself.

I say all that to say my wife fell in love with BC the first time we stayed there. Took her to GF in January and her comment was "It's nice but I sure miss my BC". :cloud9:

(You didn't really expect a completly unbias opinion on this board did ya? ;))!

I wanted to update all of you about an email that I sent to Guest Communications concerning misinformation that was being given about the room configurations when booking a stay at the Beach Club Hotel using Disney's reservations phone number.

A lot of people are reporting that when using Disney's reservation phone number, the Reservation Cast Members (Not the Hotel Cast Members) are telling folks that each room has 2 Queen beds and a Day bed. Unfortunately this is not the case for all the rooms at the Beach Club and for some guests this can cause a problem.

I wrote a very nice email and I sent it to Guest Communications informing them that on 2 separate occasions when booking a Beach Club Vacation this year I was given the incorrect information on the room configurations, in an identical manner, by two different Cast members at Reservations.

I kindly let them know that this has the potential to cause some guests a problem and I asked if they could do anything to remedy the situation. I was careful to point out that the two Reservations Cast members that were booking our trips were extremely helpful and that I really appreciated the effort that they made in assisting us with our vacation planning. I stated that I felt that the information that they were given to use was incorrect and I was hoping that changes could be made to avoid passing along the incorrect information.

I received an email and a phone call from a representative at Guest Communications following up on my email. Essentially the reply email stated that the reservations Cast member was providing the "standard answer" instead of looking at the information provided for each resort.

At this point I thought it prudent that I follow up this email with a phone conversation with a representative from Guest Communications.

This representative let me know that she was going to pass on my concerns to the appropriate supervisors in the reservations department. She also expressed gratitude at the way I took the time to point out my appreciation of the efforts made in my behalf by the Cast Members in the Reservations department.

Essentially, what she was saying was, that by being civil, polite and positive when expressing my concerns, she was able to more effectively bring them to the attention of the responsible managers.

I'm sure the management at Disney experiences the full range of guest emotions when dealing with guests who experience one problem or another. An important thing to remember is that when you bring your problem to the attention of some one who is trying to help you, they way you go about it often times makes it easier for that person to assist you, if you are airing your grievance in a calm or respectful way.

I got the impression from the Guest Communications Cast Member that I was dealing with was that she was going to do what she could to see if she could try and remedy this situation.

What was unsaid, was the difficult reality of getting everyone at Reservations on board with the correct procedures when passing along the proper info about room configurations at the Beach Club Hotel. If you stop to ponder all the different configurations at every Disney hotel it will boggle your mind.

The thing that I am taking away from this experience is that, when you communicate in an appropriate manner, Disney Cast members will make their best efforts to help make a situation better. Disney does care and they are interested in trying.

If you experience a situation that you think needs to be brought to the attention of Guest Communications then by all means contact them and pass on your concerns. Don't feel that you have to limit yourself to discussing problem situations. If you experienced an interaction from a cast member that was especially positive or helpful then by all means pass on that experience to Guest Communications. Guest Communications Cast Members are the people who have the opportunity to start the process where change is effected in the Disney guest experience. They are looking for feedback concerning your positive or negative experiences and they will try to the best of their ability to assist you.

Guest Communications representatives can be contacted via email at
wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

or send a letter to:

When you write or email, please include your name, address, phone number and email address.

Please remember that by taking the time to communicate your concerns, you have the potential to help yourself and many others with the same problem.

You know the feeling...Last Friday at this time, we were standing on the bridge in Epcot waiting for Illuminations to start, drinking coffee, laughing with the kids, enjoying the beautiful warm evening.......sigh.....

I can see and hear it all now -- miss it so much! Thanks for the warm memory!

Kids 8 through 18 and then myself and wife. August 2011!!!!

and great point in your quote above, lol, maybe I need to post a seperate thread.

but your post did hit it on the head pretty well IMO...I've stayed at the Swan and love that BW location....but the WL has charms of its own. ahhhh Disney. :)

thanks for your comments.

Can I ask again if anyone has the activity schedule for Thusdays? Love to plan out our day given we're only there for 2 days.

Got to say that for the $1,000 difference, the kids can do BB or TL a couple of times and still have a hafl-way decent pool to swim in at WL the other times. I'd be hard-pressed to pull the plug on WL and come over to the YC/BC and SAB if I could save that kind of money (did you see the pictures of SAB on pg 1 of this thread?). But then, I'd probably not even be looking at WL given how much we've come to really enjoy the YC/BC and the proximity to Epcot and HS and all the activity of BW. And with the ages of your kids, I'm thinking they'd be into HS more so now than MK. IMHO.

I think it changes every month. Maybe someone who has a Feb schedule for Thursdays can post the activities. Not sure if they will be relatively the same, or radically different for March. I guess it would at least give an idea of the types of activities available. The only schedules I have are from July 2009 and July 2010.

The boats are supposed to have AC? On our trip last Sept we took the boat from Epcot to the BW and it was so hot on that boat we almost got sick.:sad2: I thought they just didn't have AC not that is was broken. That gives me hope! :goodvibes

We were at the YC in Dec, we took the boat to HS- we couldn't open the windows, so I asked the CM on the boat why- he said that all the windows were going to be sealed shut because in the summer people kept the windows open with the AC on and it didn't keep the boats cool- Hope theis helps!

First off did you check to see if you can switch to BC with your FD? I have read on the DIS that it is possible to change resorts after a promo has ended, if the first or second CM says no ask to talk to a supervisor it seems it is not something the regular CM @ CRO can do.

That being said I think when you are going and what you plan on doing goes hand in hand with what resort you choose. I have never stayed BC but have stayed at YC and WL.

If dining options are important you can not go wrong with BC, there is just so much more to choose from between the resorts YC/BC/BW and Epcot. WL did not impress me with food choices although you can with a short boat ride head over to the MK resorts very easily.

If you plan on spending a lot of time at MK I would keep the WL but if you are more a family that loves Epcot and DHS the BC makes more sense since you can walk or boat to both.

DH and I changed our Sept trip from CR to BC because this trip is going to be a dining extravaganza and it just made sense to be close to so many dining options. I am not sure if BC is worth $1000 more only you can decide that based on ease of getting to the parks and time saved, plus the BC does have one fantastic pool and better restaurants

That number is close. Around 70-75. About half of the standard view club level rooms have daybeds and the others are two queens, a king, or a queen and daybed. Most of those rooms are two queens only in them.

Specifics about a standard view room? Only thing I can definitely tell you is that it will have a view of a parking lot or a roof. It will be on the fifth floor.

If you have five people over the age of 3 on your reservation, you will get one of the rooms with a daybed. If you do not have five, then you should add the request "daybed requested" on your reservation. If there are any rooms left that have not gone to a reservation with five people on it, you will have a chance of getting it if you have that request on your reservation. However, requests are not guaranteed and a daybed is tough because obviously they are sold to the families of five.

When we checked in 2 weeks ago (family of 5, youngest is 8), we were told there were no daybed rooms left. They tried putting us in a regular room with a roll away, however there was a reason there wasn't a daybed in that room. It was too small and there wasn't any room for the roll away. We ended up getting moved to a 2 bedroom suite - which was wonderful! However, we were also told that another family of 5 was checking in the next day and there wouldn't be a daybed room available for them either. I was very surprised there wasn't one available for us.... we've stayed here twice before and had a daybed room with no problem. I just want to point out that even with a family of 5, it's not guaranteed.

It's suppose to be guaranteed because we aren't suppose to sell more five sleepers than we have to people that need five sleepers. Sometimes it happens. Just like the airlines, they oversell. All the rooms are so different at both the YC and BC. Some fit a rollaway with no problem at all, some don't. If it happens to you, just tell them it doesn't work. They will definitely figure out something.

Okay, so I have been discussing with my family. There are no room only discounts for BCV's in September at this time. So we were up in the 2000's on price. I was trying to decide whether or not to rebudget or just move resorts.

After talking it out we have decided to change resorts....to BC.

We went into a garden view room for about half the price. (a little lower than my villa in Feb). We did look at a standard club level, but for almost 400 dollars more, decided that we just won't get that much more for our buck. View was worse and really oatmeal and a few snacks are not worth that much more. We won't be making a lot of reservations and won't need the concierge.

We're going to hang on to BC but keep an eye out in the months to come. If a villa becomes available we'll switch back but for now will look forward to at least being at BC come September.

Early this year, Teena was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, due to early detection from her annual mammogram, this was caught very early. The cancer is non-invasive at this time, very treatable and the prognosis is excellent! Teena said it was ok to share this information with everyone, especially since she has some important advice to give. Over the past few weeks, Teena has undergone many tests and has spoken to a number of doctors. She was really getting the runaround when she was seeing a doctor in a local hospital who was not a specialist in the field of breast cancer. She was receiving a lot of misinformation and confusing treatment suggestions, so she decided to get a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville this past week. Although the hospital is significantly further from her home than the first hospital, she has been getting a much better response and encouraging news about her treatment plan. The Mayo Clinic even found that one of the pathology results that came back positive at her local hospital was in fact benign. She really wants to stress the importance of being comfortable with the doctor who is treating you and to see an expert/specialist if at all possible.

Teena will be visiting with her daughter in Las Vegas next week and when she returns, she will have a couple more visits to the Mayo for additional tests and retests, and surgery likely in mid-March.

I’m sure she would appreciate well-wishes as she goes through this process, but I know she is not looking for any sympathy or pity from anyone.

Thanks for listening and for your support!

Just a reminder that the best way to get in touch with me about anything on this board is by e-mail. I have a few messages still available by PM, but if that gets full, you can click on the "send e-mail to Natebenma" and it will get to me. This will disclose your e-mail address to me, however.

Sounds like a great plan! Either way you will be at the Beach Club! Thanks for letting us know!

Dee--thanks for sharing this with us. Teena is certainly in my thoughts and prayers.

She is also so very right--the best thing about being in the US is that if we don't like the advice of our doctor or it just seems off to us, we can go somewhere else. Thank heavens she had that choice!

Can't wait, and we're taking the sting of cruddy Feb weather away by booking Las Vegas. We're heading out to the strip in March. It's not where I wanted to be but I figure a showing of 'Love' might just soothe my poor deprived Disney heartbreak.

My thoughts and prayers are with Teena and if these will help, I know she'll have a good outcome.
Thanks for keeping us informed, Dee.

If you can, see Jersey Boys when you are there. I've seen it twice in Vegas and if I could, I'd do twice a year to see it. It's soooo good!
