I am having a great day. Last night we went to the annual conservation dinner/award meeting. My son who is homeschooled won runner up in the county for his essay on soil conservation. I am so proud! Just wanted to brag a little! More reason why I hope we can pull off our suprise of staying at the BC for the first time. He dreams of staying there and I hope and pray we can pull off this surprise! I can't belive that I am going to be a mother of a teenager by the end of the year!

Wow thats awesome ! congratulations you should be proud ! :)

Thanks for the love!

As for the discount, have you tried calling Disney reservations and asking what kind of discounts they can give you?

I called and originally asked if I had a pin code. My heart sank when she said no. Then I started talking about how we were going and the Sheraton Vistana Villages, which was where we stayed before, were offering a rate of $85 a night and My family wanted to go to Harry Potter but I wanted to go to Disney, Blah, Blah Blah!!! I told her I wanted to stay at the Beach Club and book the package thingy with deluxe dining but my family was against it and wanted to do Universal. The agent then said that she could give me a 35% off room rate since we were doing the magic your way package and from that point it was all she wrote! I booked then and there since I knew my dates/prices etc.

I priced out the trip ahead of time and I knew that we would really need that 35% off of room rate if we were going to make this happen...

So the moral of this story is call, tell them you are interested in staying at ______ for this date ______ and that X hotel is offering this _____ deal and can they help you out.

Try it and see how far you get. If it doesn't work out, call back next week with the same script and see if things have changed!

Definitely know your pricing ahead of time for each of the room categories at the Disney Hotel that you want to stay at. That way if they say we have no standard rooms but we can give you a XX% discount on... lets say club level standard view you will have the numbers right there on a piece of paper and you can do the calculations quickly and tell right away if that offer is in your budget.

I approached the whole thing like I was buying a car, and I priced out each part of the package, Hotel, park tickets, dining etc. That way when they said for instance "I can give you a discount on dining only", I knew how much I was saving over regular rates.

This whole thing really is like buying a car if you are doing it the savvy way.

Definitely call and chat with one of those representatives at Disney that are just standing by, waiting for YOU to call!!

Hopefully you won't be unlucky and one of those "turkeys" will answer the phone! ;)

Good luck!

VERY sound advice!

I had the same experience. I priced out our trip online (w/ the 40% off rate back in January) then called the Disney line. When the gentlemen on the phone quoted me a higher rate, I expressed confusion, for online I got blah blah blah..... worked like a charm :)

Granted, I would have gotten the rate had I done it online, but I prefer speaking to a human being.

Wow. I just said I liked people. Quick. Don't tell anyone!

He said a lot of flu is going around here. He prescribed zithromax and just said to keep pushing motrin and Tylenol for the fever. I feel like there is nothing I can do for the poor kiddo. :sad1: Just pray he gets better quickly. The medicine is a five day dosage so he will take his last dose Saturday morning before we board the plane. FINGERS CROSSED!!!! Both my kids came down with the swine flu last year in Tenneessee and we never saw outside the hotel room except to go to walgreens. Really hoping we don't go through that again.

I'd ask the doctor if you can get a prescription for your other son and fill it in case he gets the flu on the trip.

Nope this was a package booked. A lot of people do this too, there is threads every so often on this. We had a package booked at BC for 8 days, and we booked a room only at POFQ, and many people had told me that I could get my tickets early and sure enough we did. It didn't seem that big of deal when we did it either. I was skeptical though.

Good to know. I've never heard of being able to do it since it was all in the same package. I knew you could if you booked things separately.

I have so much to do here at work, but I can't wait for our trip and just had to catch up with this thread! We are leaving Sunday morning - 90 hours until we check in at LAX for our flight!

Yes, we do have a package and use a pin for free dinning. What if we booked a night at POP, then can we get our tickets early?

now I'm not sure since a previous poster said you can get your tickets early? I just assumed you'd have to have checked into the resort the package is under but I guess there are other ways of doing it as well :confused3 I'm an easy room only and FL Res tickets girl. Hopefully someone else here answered you correctly - they know a lot!

I bet you are ready for summer vacation. I don't work in a school and I'm ready.

Right now I'm not expecting to take a Christmas trip for this year, but of course you never know. I only have so much vacation time left this year so we'll have to wait and see. A mother daughter trip sounds SO wonderful!!!

I'm so impressed with you taking up running. I'm so lazy. LOL

I'm sure you are ready! By this time, the kids don't want to still be in school do they?

I'm really pretty lazy, but I enjoy running so. . .

One day our Disney paths will meet again. I'm sure of it. :goodvibes

For everyone who is sick I hope you all get better soon. I have been following this site for about a week and I am loving it greatly.

Any neat little tricks about the resort I would love to know. We will be staying over at the villas so any tips would be great!

Congratulations! I'm so happy for your son and for you! You're going to absolutely love the Epcot resort area.

Does anyone else get waves of euphoria at random moments when your trip is getting closer? Like, you feel so happy you think you will burst? I just had one of those - fabulous :cloud9: 3 more sleeps and 1 1/2 more work days! :woohoo:

P.S. I haven't really commented on those posting about the big "C", whether you have it or know someone who does. I have thought good thoughts about all of you - its a big *w*itch, and unfortunately I've known many people who have succumbed to the disease, including my father in 2008 and a close uncle in 2000. :wizard: for all of you.

I am ssssoooooo jealous!;)

So excited for everyone leaving soon - hope you all shoo the flu before you leave!

Jen, we apologize in advance for bringing all this yucky weather with us! I fear our dining plans are not interesting - but they are sentimental. King's Arms was my childhood Williamsburg favorite (yes, a tourist trap, but I can't resist.) And I like taking the kids to Union Street Public House in Alexandria - a favorite of mine in college and steps away from Ben and Jerry's. Lots of newer Williamsburg restaurants look great - but I'm always worried about whether places are child-friendly. That's part of the reason I love Disney dining so much - I can eat sushi and drink wine while our youngest is ordering chicken fingers and we all fit right in!

And :bday: Erika! Will you put a link to your live report in your signature?

Marlton Mom, just love your stories, and I agree with the advice - I always have the sense there is a deal out there somewhere and I just need to keep trying to find it! We always book a room only reservation early - good cancellation policies and they can usually apply new deals to my reservation if I call as soon as the special is announced.

Robyn, good to hear about your mom looking a bit better.

pkdof, travel safe from DL territory! We miss DL and Newport Beach!

Heatherbabydoll1, I second this! Adorable photo and how exciting! We celebrated my little brother's 13th birthday at BC (that was in 1992!) and it was a really special trip. Happy planning! :wizard:

I am having them now and our trip isn't until Aug! Last year when we went on our first trip, it was like a spur of the moment thing. We only had a little over a month to plan but this time, I have been planning for 2 months and still have 4 months to go:eek: It's excrutiating.....I am going out of my mind...LoL...DS is handling this waiting way better than I am:laughing:

Would like to know the answer as well popcorn::

In 2009, when I was there they had large glass bottles to just pour yourself a glass. Same thing a few years prior at the Poly.

I don't recall bottled water being in the concierge lounge. plenty of canned soda though.

and i still dream :cloud9: about the sugar cookies and stuffing them down my face :rotfl::rotfl:

Looks like our paths will cross!! We are going to be at YC from 8/24-8/31. We have never stayed at the YC before, but have gone this time of year for the past few years and love it!!! It is really hot, but because our kids arent back at school until Labor Day, it is a nice gap because some other parts of the country are back in school, so it seems a little less crowded. Its a nice way to start the school year off too :thumbsup2

Very cool! We may need to tweak our dates since our school calendar for 2011-2012 hasn't been done yet (due to all this nasty weather). I may switch to the week leading into Labor Day which means our paths would still cross...

plenty of canned soda though.

Funny thing about beverages in the club lounge, including soda, but mostly coffee for me. I thought it would be silly to buy another refill mug because we had access to all that coffee and soda in the lounge. At home, I drink my coffee out of my old refill mugs every morning (I have many.) When I occasionally drink soda at home, I also put that in the refill mug. By our second day at WDW last month, I couldn't do without my refillable mug, so I bought a new one and put the cl lounge beverages in it. (And as I've mentioned before, the refill mug is also very handy for your grey goose slushie in France!)
