I would like to solicit some opinions as to whether it is better to check-in online or to do so in person. I seem to recall that some folks have said that online check-in is NOT the way to go (though it's hard to remember why after reading 2700+ posts

) Are there any advantages to bypassing the online check-in? I would think that would be most convenient.
If we do check in in person, what kind of crowd might I expect in the BC lobby at around 5:00 pm on Memorial Day? (That is where I'll need to go for the BCV, right?) Should we maybe do our grocery shopping at the Winn-Dixie (or wherever's cheapest) first and then check in later? As long as we make our ADR at Cape May at 8:00.
You just needed to go to page 1!!! This is from the FAQ section:
How do I make a request on my reservation? How many requests should I make? What should I request?
When you arrive at the resort for checkin, you can ask before you take your keys if your requests were granted, and if not, see if there is anything available that meets your needs. Please note that you should do this through REGULAR checkin.
Online checkin is designed for grabbing your keys and going, no questions asked, so if there is a possibility you will ask for a room change, you shouldn't do this.
Requests vary because what is important to one family may be different for another family. Some popular requests are full balcony at the Beach Club, a day bed, close to lobby (or elevator or Stormalong Bay), close to Concierge Lounge (if you are staying club level) or close to EPCOT.
Should I checkin online in advance or wait until I am at the resort?
As noted in the responses above, if you don't have any questions and if you are going to just grab your keys and go, then you are great candidate for the online checkin. If there is a possibility that you will ask for a room change because you are not satisfied with the one that has been assigned to you, then you should wait until you arrive at the resort to check in.
I believe you were going to request EPCOT view on your reservation, because, well, why not. But as Teena and others has pointed out, since BCV is usually fully occupied, the likelihood that you can change your room upon checkin is unlikely. So the answer is--- I don't know what would be best for you!
