Adding to the trip list.....Love adding someone with a name like Polyluver. (We love the Poly too!) We are going the same week in Aug. As former fall trippers we Learned to manage like Teena said. Early morning, midday relax, swim, then back at night for 'atmosphere' , shows or to use fastpasses gathered that morning.

If you are a late sleeper another option would be show up at the an EMH park around 8pm. This would work best at MK. We've always talked about going for EMH evening. Magic Kingdom scheduled open till 11 (already, they could and often do extend) then 3 more hours. Riding Big Thunder at 2am just seems cool for some reason. :upsidedow

Good luck and stay cool!

Thanks so much for the advice ! We are late sleepers esp on vacation LOL.

So it seems the parks @ night will be our best bet :) Thanks again, and I'm actually getting really excited for our summer trip

we will be staying in a 1 bedroom villa at BCV do they all have full balconies? can I ask to have an Epcot view?

You can always ask, but as many have said, with BCV running to full capacity at all times, you may not get it unless someone is leaving the day you arrive. But definately ask!!

This thread is likely a bit biased but I'd really like opinions. I'm going to extend my stay over the weekend for the Flower & Garden Festival. I'm considering the BC/YC area for the IG entrance and just pure relaxation - extremely busy time at work right now - or the WL for MK in the evening

If you are going for the F&G festival, then definately the BC/YC is for you and since you are there on your own, my personal choice would be the "Dark Side" where things are just a little more relaxed and quiet. But then, you have already acknowledged that we are biased here with our opinions.

No, they do not. If you are talking about the Beach Club and the Yacht Club, only some of the rooms sleep five people. Most of the rooms only have two queen beds. They do NOT have pullout couches unless it is a five sleeper. A daybed is the same thing as a pullout couch. Except even half of the five sleepers do not have pullout couches, they only have daybeds that sleep one small adult and smaller, definitely not a full size adult.

Ok thanks for the info again. The info you give you on here is really invaluable and greatly appreciated(I think you respond quicker than the time it takes to get through the phone system!). We have officially booked for Aug 22-29, this will be our longest trip ever to DW and our first time at the BC. We usually stay at the Dolphin but with teh free DDP the difference in cost has been justified. Can't wait (my oldest is going to flip when we tell him)

Just thought would give a quick update...
Genetic test came back Negative!!!:banana::cheer2:
Meeting with Plastic Surgeons about getting mastectomy...lump is way too big to have lumpectomy look good
Getting another biopsy on Monday on a lymph node that is enlarged.:sad1:

Now Dee when I started reading your post about "Dis"sy Awards I thought they were real and I missed the voting...'Cause this Thread is the Bomb!!!! Then as I started reading it I knew it was a joke but it had me laughing.

Teena I hope you are doing well.

I'm doing great and anxious for 4/25 to get here and get the radiation going!!

I'm so glad for you that the genetic test came back negative!!!

Have to say the first surgeon I went to said the same thing ... the lumpectomy was going to leave one-third of my breast gone and it would look really really bad. However, the second surgeon at the Mayo said, "not with me doing the operation" and after two surgeries (the one margin came back not clean), all there is is an incision ... no indention or anything. It's absolutely amazing. Make sure you get that second opinion on that part of it too. I'm still in shock that two surgeons can come up with such different results.

Good luck and keep us posted. We're all behind you and praying for you and sending you loads of pixie dust!

Oh Congrats and Good Luck! I agree with Teena- always get a second opinion. I am a nurse practitioner and I tell my patients any surgeon/physician that is worth your time should welcome a second opinion. If there is a discrepancy between those- get a 3rd!

My prayers are with you and Teena!

Warm wishes from up here in Boston to all of my DIS (more specifically my YC/BC friends) friends dealing with health issues. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

One of my first jobs ever was as a desk person on the inpatient Oncology floor at Mass General Hospital. One of the things I always remember from my time there was that whenever we would send around a card for one of the patients, one of the physician's, who was world renowned in his field would always sign the cards, "Keep fighting the good fight!". I always thought that was such a simple, heartfelt way to tell folks to keep figthing through all that was coming their way. Kinda of sweet and poignant at the same time.

So to all my DIS friends going through health related issues I say to you, "FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT!!".

I've tried to do a search but cannot find the answer.

My 5 year old niece will be spending an afternoon/evening with us whilst her parents enjoy their anniversary. She will not be a guest at BC but we will. Can we bring her into Stormalong Bay with us, or would we have to miss out on our swim for that day?

The quick answer is NO.
However, how many people are on your reservation? If you are in a regular room at the BC (not a one bedroom suite or a room that sleeps 2 or 3), and if you have 4 or less people over the age of 3 on your reservation, then add your niece to your reservation. That way, she will get her own key. Each individual person (age 3 and over) must show a key to get into SAB. The reason they started enforcing this regulation last year was that lots of guests were bringing in friends and relatives that were not staying at the BC, YC or BCV. Because of that, the guests that paid big money to stay at the BC, YC or BCV could not get chairs plus the pool was too crowded. The rules have always been ONLY GUESTS STAYING AT THE BC, YC AND BCV. Last year they began enforcing it VERY STRICTLY!

I remember once, a grandmother and grandfather were staying at the BC. They had five children and those children all had children. They were all staying at Pop Century. They ALL came over to swim at SAB with Grandma and Grandpa. There were over 40 of them. Can you imagine how many of these (maybe not quite as large a group) took place daily?

I can't even get into SAB. That's why I'm spending big bucks (Easter week is very expensive) for a room there just so we can go into SAB.

Keep in mind, you are welcome to take your niece into the quiet pool ... room keys are not checked there.

I am so glad to hear the good news about your genetic test!

I'm also pleased that my post gave you a chuckle.

It is really wonderful that in addition to being a very informative thread about the best resort at Disney, so many have found this forum to be a safe, supportive place to share whatever we are going through in our lives! A person can never have too many imaginary friends, especially when they are real!

Since the BCV is always 98-100% occupied, getting a room request is usually a 50/50 shot. There are very few one bedroom villas with a view of Epcot. Your best chance is to add "Epcot view requested" to your reservation so that when the computer system assigns your room, it will see your request and if there is a one bedroom villa available with that view during the dates of your stay, you will have a chance of getting it assigned to you.

Thanks a googolplex, Teena! I spoke with our TA this morning to pay off the balance on the trip (I guess we're really going now - OMG!) and asked her to put that notation on the reservation. I'm sure anything we get is going to be great!

Wow, I have some serious catching up to do! Good thing I'm stuck in bed with some sort of bug and can't go anywhere! Wait... it's gorgeous and sunny outside.... drat!

This thread is likely a bit biased :rotfl2: but.... I'd really like opinions on the options I'm considering.

I'm considering the BC/YC area for the IG entrance and just pure relaxation - extremely busy time at work right now - or the WL (fave resort ever :duck:) for MK in the evening - love Wishes

So if you were going by yourself which would you pick :confused3

Personally, I would pick the YC if I was staying by myself. I love WL, but it does have areas where, I don't know, they feel a bit spooky at night if you're walking alone. (That could be the city girl in me, trees often seem to have nefarious intentions!:lmao:)

Also, you'll be right next to Epcot, the show, and lots of little shops, etc.

YC over BC just because it seems to skew a little more to those travelling w/o kids.

Either way you should have a great time!:goodvibes

Have a great trip. However, I like the early closings in the fall. Late dinners, relaxing and then back up early for rope drop. This works for us.

I'm actually a bit bummed about the early closings. I didn't realize they started closing the parks at 9 in September! Still better than going in the middle of the summer heat... guess I can't have it both ways! :)

Glad you had some good news w/ the genetic test!!!:cool1:
Bummer about the biopsy though... are they at least doing a liquid one? (As much as I hated those needles I always said they were a lot better than the knives! Ah, the gallows humor of a Cancer patient....is it just me or do we all have it at one point or another? )

Here's a  for both you and Teena!

I just made the final payment on our trip as well! Sooooo excited, it's really going to happen!:dance3:

I'm going alone this year too and have opted for BC - I love the Epcot resort area, I've stayed at BWI a few times now and wanted to return to the YC/BC (stayed at YC before), so chose the BC as it's the only I haven't stayed at, but mainly due to it's decor, I love it over the YC's new decor. I enjoyed my stay at the YC but I did find it a little too quiet for my liking (obviously just personal choice), I know the BC appears more popular with families and the lobby can get a bit hectic at times but I'm not planning on spending too much time in the lobby ;)

Could you please explain about the YC's "new decor" that you refer to?
Thanks! We were there back in 2008
