2011/2012 Reunion Cruise?

:wizard: I was told I AM a candidate for lasik. I did an internal happy dance in the office. On Friday, I will be glasses free! :woohoo:

I have to tell you the funny way Bill presented this present to me. I opened a box that had Mike from Monster, Inc. on one end and a laser pointer glued to DS9's Legos on the other end. There was a sign next to the laser that read "Press Me". When I pressed the laser, it pointed right into Mike's big eye. :thumbsup2 I have to give Bill credit, that was VERY creative. I took a picture. I'll post it when I load the pictures into photobucket.

I have had two medical procedures done that I say have changed my life in a very radical way. One was my Right Total Hip Replacement four years ago. The second was my Lasik surgery that I did about 6 years ago. I have loved being able to see 20/20 (20/15 in one eye). Congratulations! :thumbsup2

I know it has been a while since I have posted, but I wanted to let everyone know that Jennifer's surgery went flawless and as of her follow-up this morning, she is seeing 20/15...without glasses!!! We both appreciate everyone's kind wishes and she should be back to DIS'ing in a few days. :) Hope all is well in your world and talk to you all soon.

Hey Buddy, that is FABULOUS!! Tell her congratulations and we're all excited for her! I'm sure Tina will be dreaming of getting it done now! :3dglasses

Congrats to Jennifer! Jim was tested in May for Lasik, but he's not a candidate. I'm not sure why.

I used to wear gas permeable lenses too. I stopped wearing them when we used to camp a lot because it was too hard to manage all the cleaning. I just never went back to wearing them again. I don't mind wearing glasses--in fact, I feel naked without them. I don't need to wear them for reading any more, which is one of the benefits of getting older, I suppose! I do wear them for the computer, for doing really close needlework, and for distance.

So if you guys haven't watched Marley & Me, DON'T!!! It was a really good movie, but be prepared for a cry-fest. I haven't cried so hard over a movie in a long time. Robby didn't even watch most of the ending. :lmao: He just threw me a roll of toilet paper, and left the room. It was pretty funny!!! Speaking of dogs, here is a new pictures of Koda. He's getting so big!!!

Jennifer-So how did the lasik surgery go?? How long was your recover time??

Beth-How are the kiddos?? Haven't heard anything about them in a while. I'll bet they are growing like crazy.

Hi Tina!

Your baby is growing. Koda looks like a stuffed animal. He is so cute!

I know what you mean about Marley and Me. All the commercials for it seemed geared towards kids. So, the kids wanted to see it. We rented it and watched it as a family. Bring out the tissues. The end was a tear-jerker. I knew it was coming, but still very sad. Strangely enough, the children (especially Emily) wanted to watch it a second time before we sent it back. For days all I heard was "Poor Marley". We did explain it was a movie and Marley was just acting, but it was still a sad story.

My lasik went great! Thanks for asking. It was the weirdest procedure I have ever endured. I have never seen the movie Clockwork Orange. But, I have seen the clip with the man's eyes being pryed open with these metal things. That is exactly what they did to me. It was like something out of a movie. It didn't hurt, but was VERY uncomfortable.

I had to keep my eyes closed for four hours after the surgery. Bill was great and downloaded tons of Podcasts for me. I didn't realize how many DIS Unplugged Podcasts I had missed over the past few weeks. I am all caught up now. I've been taking it easy on my eyes. My eyes get tired if I try and read too much. So, no books for awhile. I have to stick to magazines. Even typing this, I've had to take a few breaks to rest my eyes. The black letters with white background is hard to focus on right now. It's a weird feeling. I'm still wearing my "goggles" in bed at night. They are to prevent me from rubbing my eyes in my sleep. I even wear the goggles in the shower. I'm not suppose to get water in my eyes. My eyes are healing and itching like crazy, more than when I first had the surgery. I've been using eye drops (natural tears) like crazy. I know each day will get better and better. :cloud9: I was suppose to be back to 100% a few days after the surgery. But, my eyes seem to get tired more easily lately. So, I probably won't be 100% for another week (total of three weeks after surgery.). Reading and the computer just take a toll on my eyes. However, I have driven just fine.

My "fashionable" goggles. (I plan to burn these after my eyes have healed. I look like I'm ready to go swimming.)

I still can't believe, I walked into the office with glasses on and terrible eye sight and walked out seeing clearly.:3dglasses The whole procedure took from walking in the door to walking out about two and a half hours. If possible, I highly recommend it. :thumbsup2 Thank you to the man or woman who invented this procedure. :worship: It rocks!!!!

Bill took great care of me. When I came home from the doctor, there were beautiful and very fragrant roses and a "Congratulations" balloon waiting for me. Thank you Bill!!!!

The beautiful flowers and balloon from my loving husband and children.

Beth-How are the kiddos?? Haven't heard anything about them in a while. I'll bet they are growing like crazy.

They're growing almost as fast as Koda (who is quite the cutie). Keegan can crawl, and pulls himself to a standing position in the crib. Brigid has two teeth now, and she's starting to eat some real food. They're quite a handful. A couple of weeks ago Jim and I took all three grandkids on a three-hour train trip to see their great-grandparents. That was quite an interesting experience. I was amazed at all the nice people who offered to help us get all the kids and luggage on and off the trains. We have to change trains twice in each direction! There are some new pictures of the kids here, close to the bottom of the page:

The elderly couple are Jim's parents, the 50-ish couple are Jim's sister and her husband, the young guy with dark hair is their son and the dark-haired girl is their daughter. There are a couple of pictures of Jim's other sister and her daughter with my grandkids, too. It was quite the family gathering!

Jennifer:

I'm so glad that your surgery went well. That will change your life! No more rain on your glasses, and no more fogging up when you leave the air-conditioning!

Beth

Ok guys, I know this is a crazy thing to brag about, but I'm so excited!!! I made cornbread for the first time!!! It turned out really close to my mom's too!!! I'm so proud of myself!!! :woohoo::banana::woohoo::banana:

Jennifer
Congratulations on your eye surgery! I actually have an appointment at Wright Patterson AFB next month to do my pre-screening appointment. I won't have time to do the surgery until after mid October though, because they'll want me to stay on base for 6 days after the surgery. Keep us posted on your recovery.

Beth The twins are growing so fast! It seems like just yesterday that your DDIL found out she was pregnant!

Tina Good job on the cornbread!

Btw is anyone going to WDW in February? We'll be at OKW over President's Day weekend!

Congratulations! I love cornbread, and good cornbread is very hard find.

Wendy--

We'll be cruising that weekend (2/20--is that President's Day weekend?) we'll probably go to WDW the night before and for a few days after. I can't wait. I am SO ready for a vacation. Of course, I'm typing this from a hotel in Binghamton, NY while I'm at a Teddy Bear show, but it's only three days and it's partially business.

Congrats! I love cornbread. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! However, I have only attempted to make the box mix. I'm not brave enough to make it homemade just yet.

Thanks for the congrats. You will love lasik. It is life changing. Good luck with your appointment. :flower3:

The next time we'll be at WDW is for Thanksgiving and the week after. We may even try a quick trip the weekend of December 12th for DAP. After that, we don't plan to visit WDW until November 2010. With our ABD CA trip in April. We are cutting back on our WDW trips next year. Also, we may be able to build back up our DVC points. We always seem to be borrowing from the next use year. We may finally get caught up next year if we can control ourselves and not visit WDW until November 2010. We'll see ... :rolleyes1

The "baby" of our family turns four years old this weekend. I hate having to change the children's ages in my signature. The years are flying by way too quickly for me. We're having a pool party on Sunday. The theme is ... :fish: Finding Nemo :fish:

Emily and I are making the birthday cake. This will be my first time working with fondant. With the humidity in Texas right now, we'll see how it goes.

He was two years old the last time y'all saw him (except for Wendy). He's a growing boy!

Just checking in! :surfweb:

We have been on vacation for almost 3 weeks. Spent about 10 days in Dallas with our DS and his wife. It was almost like work though because of the wedding and other things happening. :confused3

We then spent a week in western NC at an annual gathering for our church. It was great as usual until the last day when JoJo took a bad fall off a retaining wall in the dark. We thought that he was gone and almost had him put to sleep at the ER but then he stood up and started walking. We drove home to Florida with him and had him checked again by his doctor. He's still sore but doing very well. My DDIL calls him the "Energizer Poodle".

Guess What?!?!?!?! Robby just got me the best surprise ever!!! He got me a charter membership to D23!!!!! I'm sooooooo excited!!! :woohoo::banana::woohoo::banana:

Did any of you participate in the Annual Passholder discount card promo? We got a nice envelope from Disney the other day with seven (7) $25 gift cards = $175.00!!!!! :wizard:
This is all thanks to Cole's discount cards. He was the only one with a valid AP from December 2009 - May 2009. So, he got the discount cards in the mail. We used one of them to purchase the rest of the families AP in May. Also, some fellow DISers took advantage of the 10% discount when I sent them some cards.

:guilty: However, the money is already spent. Cole will NOT have a valid AP for our November/December trip. His AP expires in September 2009. So, the money will go towards a Park Hopper for him. Every bit helps! I sure wish Disney would let you pro-rate an AP for a child that just turns 3 to help get the whole family on the same AP renewal. After our November/December trip, we don't plan to be back to WDW until November 2010. So, there is no need to renew Cole's AP in September. A Park Hopper will be cheaper. :thumbsup2

:guilty: I am so sorry to hear about JoJo. I am glad to hear he is doing better. You have a VERY resilient dog. The "Energizer Poodle" sounds very fitting.
