Hi all,

I've been reading the Beach Club threads and I've been doing something that the rest of you might find helpful.

When ever I come across some little tidbit of info that's relative to me I copy/paste it into a word document entitled "Beach Club Tips" and save it. My trip isn't until June so my 47 year old brain is sure to forget all the wonderful things I'm learning by reading this thread.

Before we leave on our trip I'll review the info to refresh my memory. I've learned things like:

"The small laundry room did not have a money changer and no soap to buy, the larger one had a money changer, but would only change $5's. "

or:
"Did you know that you can request a microwave (free) at any of the deluxes."

or even: "Take the bus to the Magic Kingdom. It takes too long to walk to the monorail, wait, then transfer at TTC, wait etc… the bus to MK is a 15 minute ride aside from wait time for the bus to get to the hotel and the buses run frequently."

So you see how this is working. I'm storing all the good information in a word document like a chipmunk with it's cheeks full of seed. When I'm high in the sky, flying down to Disney I'll make my husband read the tips so he doesn't drive me crazy asking me things.... well that may be wishful thinking as he drives me CRAZY any way but you get the idea...

So there ya go! My tip for the day!

If you booked a room at the BC or YC, no, all rooms do not come with a daybed/couch unless you are a party of five.

Marketplace is your one stop shopping for water, snacks, etc.

TeenaS - THANK YOU SO MUCH! We are a party of 5 so that's great to know. I'm thrilled about marketplace. That will help.

Is it possible to request a daybed at YC even if you're only a party of 3? Pixie dust needed?

Absolutely ... you can request anything you want. Doesn't mean you will get your requests but you can request a daybed for sure. Just remember, they go to guests with five in the room automatically so there may not be rooms with a daybed available on all the days of your vacation. Therefore, you won't get one even if you request it. You can always ask for that a rollaway bed be sent to your room too.

Thanks, Teena! If my request should be granted, would it mess with getting a great view? I know there is a limited number of rooms with daybeds. Are they spread throughout the resort? If it's between the daybed and a great view, I prefer the view!

Your view is determined by the room that you booked. If you booked a standard view, it doesn't matter what you request, you're going to have a "yucky" view of either a parking lot or a roof. If you booked a garden view, you are going to get a nice view of either a garden, courtyard or woods. If you booked a water view, you are going to have a nice view of either the lake or pool. There are rooms with daybeds in all three categories ... but again, they go to families with five and if there are any left over that aren't needed for families of five during your vacation dates, then you have a chance of getting one if you requested it on your reservation.

The kitchenette was making the studio look better, but if the BC room is bigger that would probably be better for them with the little ones. Thank you so much for the info!

The kitchenette gives you a little more 'counter' space but all they have in them is a fridge, coffee maker and microwave (paper plates and cups). It is my understanding you can request a microwave at any deluxe and you already have the other two (albeit a little smaller). Now a 1BR at BCV and a full kitchen..... :lovestruc

With the new reservation system, you definitely do NOT want to put your husband on one reservation and you on the other and then change things around later. And everybody that is going to be in the rooms need to be on the reservation BEFORE you check in. The new reservation system makes it almost impossible to add a guest to a reservation after they check-in. We can do it but the room key is encoded differently and trust me, you want ALL the correct people on the reservation, in the right rooms, when you make the reservation - not after you check-in!!!!!! Do you want two rooms total? I would just put the second room under the correct names but put your address on it so the confirmation will come to your address. List your email address on both reservations too. That should keep all the paperwork on the reservations coming to you.

..although I don't post a lot I am a chronic lurker! I appreciate reading a good book...and the Dis posters are great authors!!!

I didn't realize that I could put my address on their reservation...sure makes it easy to surprise them!!!!

Thanks again!
Robin

Although the sq ft difference seems like a lot, 380sq ft vs 356 sq ft, IMO 24 sq ft is not all the much of a difference especially if you take into account with a studio villa when the sofa is closed up you have the extra floor space (for little ones to play in) where with the standard room in BC the Queen size bed easily takes up that 24 sq ft of space.

I believe there is also a toaster in the studio and the refridgerator has a very small freezer which the ones in the BC room do not.

Can you do a small favor for me while you're at BC Marketplace? Can you list or photo the candy/snack items? Last year I had BC IPO make up a small "sand bucket basket" from BC Marketplace for the kids. I just went by memory. I'd like to do that again this year and would love to have some things to pick from instead of just trying to remember! TIA!!!

Happy to do it! I'll take pictures so it's easier to choose!

I do the same thing! In fact, I have one file for "Beach Club info" and another, 20 page long :rolleyes1 file with random Disney tips. Pictures, website links, phone numbers, the whole deal!

But here is my Beach Club Tip of the Day:

There is a side entrance/exit to the Beach Club which takes you mere steps, probably 3 minutes, from the International Gateway Entrance. It is near room 1501.

This was really handy for us a couple of times this summer when it was wicked hot and when it had just started pouring.

You have to go through a lot of hallways to find it, so the best way to do this is to follow the signs to room 1501 from the lobby.

Here is a photo of the pathway near the "secret entrance"

I have similar files!! A bit shorter than 20 pages though. :teeth:

We used that exit/entrance many times! It is a great tip ::yes::, though could be difficult for some to find. :thumbsup2
(oh how I miss hearing "wicked"....from Boston, now in NC 5 yrs this summer. Miss home very much).

Trying to decide if this post is "FAQ-worthy"

I'd say YES! This is a great tip - one that I read on this board before our March trip last year - and it's one of my very favorites! We used this to escape the rain in March and the heat in July. It doesn't matter where your BC room is located, this is the best way to get inside quickly!

We're just about two weeks away from arrival and have a question for the lounge experts!

Earlier, I asked for suggestions in case my husband and I decide to grab a drink after our kids go to bed. (My parents will be with us for our first two days and will hang out with the kids!) I received some great responses and we've narrowed it down to Belle Vue at BW, Crew's Cup or Martha's Vineyard. I'm not even sure we will have the energy, but in case we do, does anyone have a favorite among these three?

I am sure this has been asked before but, what are the counter service options for YC vs. Beach club. Also, DS's love DisneyQuest and DTD is a late evening for us. Is it better to take a bus directly from YC/BC or to walk to Epcot or DHS and bus from there? How are the buses? Who do we share with for DTD. Are water parks overkill with SAB? Thanks for any help. We are really trying to make a decision soon.

I've never taken the bus from BC to DTD. The buses to AK and MK were fine. I'm not a big fan of Disney buses in general. I remember that on the way back from AK we had lots of stops - Swan/Dolphin for sure - but not on the way there. The walk to DHS is pretty long and so is the walk through IG to the front of Epcot so I would NOT recommend either of those as faster. Unless you're starting from one of those places anyway.
My kids are really young (the eldest was 6 when we stayed at BC) so I thought SAB was plenty for them and we skipped the water parks. I know that people with children who are older/better swimmers than mine have gone to water parks. I think it's personal preference. We were there in August and had daily late afternoon thunderstorms so the water parks would have been a waste of time and money for us.
For us (besides just liking the "feel" of BC and liking SAB), the major advantage of BC is the access to Epcot and the Boardwalk. We loved the short walk to the IG and the ability to eat most of our dinners in World Showcase. We like to eat good food, especially for dinner and this was SO convenient!
I hope that helps!

Amanda

Hello!:goodvibes
I am helping DD20 plan her spring break trip in March. She just switched today from BWI to BC-Standard View-Club Level!
I was hoping you could help us out with a couple of questions.
What floors are these standard club level rooms on?
What does the "Standard View" for Club Level entail?
She and her friend are taking Magical Express from the airport to the BC. Is there someone who will greet her at the bus from CL (I know they do that at the GF) or does she go inside to the regular check-in desk?
Thanks so much...DD and her friend can't wait!:cool1:

All CL rooms are on the fifth floor, with the exception of some suites and the deluxe CL rooms. A standard view CL room will most likely have a view of a roof top or parking lot.

When your DD gets off ME, have her head to the bell service desk and let them know she is checking into CL (if a CL CM does not meet them at the bus). They will then find a CL CM who will take them to the fifth floor to check in.

I hope your DD and her friend have a magical time at the BC.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. It has taken me quite awhile to get through it but I have learned so much. I cannot wait to stay at BC!! Summer can't get here soon enough! :yay:
