Hello everyone! Here at the BC now and everyone was right this place is amazing!! We spent are first day looking around the resort and swimming at SAB, the temp was around 69 but it was warm enough to swim, so hopefully that will reassure some people coming next week. We kept commenting that as we were eating lunch at Hurricane Hanna's that we felt like we were on a Beach vacation far away. Heading to EPCOT this morning
and then back for swimming and then Le Cellier for dinner. I'll try to post the movies later. I received my pin at check-in and I am hoping to meet Teena today or tomorrow.

Thank you so much for the live update! Sounds like you are having a fantastic time so far and I's sure that will continue! Have a great time at EPCOT. You will love, love, love how quick and easy it is to get there and back, especially since it sounds like you will be coming and going a couple of times today.

Thanks for the reminder, counselormom! I just checked the Build a Better Mousetrip site and they have updated the December movies. So hopefully I will save you some typing! If the sign has any different movies listed, could you point those out?

Sounds like a great lineup!

Beach Movie December Schedule

Sunday Princess and the Frog
Monday Snow Buddies
Tuesday Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue
Wednesday UP! (PG)
Thursday Toy Story 3
Friday The Santa Clause
Saturday Muppet Christmas Carol

I'll post this to the frontpage now.

Yes we were fine for Thanksgiving and Black Friday then all of a sudden, DH, DD and I all got hit for a loop! Of course of all weeks it was the week I run the Santa's Secret Workshop at our school so I didn't even get to just stay in bed and weather it. I've been pumped up on medicine and can't wait to just relax this weekend. Of course ds has two basketball games so I don't know how much relaxing we'll do.

Boy am I missing the hot, summer days at BC. I'm also missing that BC lounge . . .

I hope you are getting to relax this weekend Robyn! I totally agree on missing those hot, summer days at BC and that great lounge...

The carousel this year is so amazing!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing it!

Hi Teena! I saw pictures of it the other day through a 'blog' link here on DISboards. It does look beautiful! Someday I'd like to see it in person...

Just returned home from our week stay at the YC. Got the chance to visit with Teena on Monday and was prepared to tell you all about the computer issues she was having but I'm glad to see that all is well with her link to this thread now.

No we didn't get any upgrades, wasn't family of the day and didn't get to be in any parades. We haven't had any of that in over thirty years of visiting the World and didn't feel cheated this time either. We really enjoyed our stay in YC room 4057 which is a waterview room (what we booked) directly on the walkway around the lake. A great view of Boardwalk and watched the high fireworks from Illimunations when we were in the room at 9:30 at night. The room next door, 4059, has a king sized bed which my DB and DSIL were able to enjoy.

First part of the week we had great WARM weather then Wednesday it turned COOL and stayed that way for the remainder of the week. Stay in the sun and you ould cetainly get warm if you want to. Evenings were cool but we were prepared and it didn't keep us from our viewing the Candlelight Processional at Epcot or the Osborne lights in DHS. Did the resort hopping to view the decorations. I want to say that other than the Gingerbread house at the GF, don't waste your time at any place other than the YC/BC. These two lobbies put all the others to shame (well, maybe not the WL lobby, but that one looks good anytime). Did breakfasts at Cape May and Captain's Grill. We'll probably stay with the Captain's Grill next time and skip the characters and buffet over at the BC. Did breakfast with our Quick Service credis in the nook off the lobby the other mornings. Worked out really well for us. Dinners at Artist Point (WL) and Narcoossees (GF) and took cabs back each time ($20 each includes tip). Also did Tuto Italiano in Italy before the CP. All were great.

Crowds were light and we were able to walk right on many rides (of course Soarin' was still a 40 minute wait). Only did three days out of six in the parks. Spent the remainder just relaxing. Finally got over to do Fantasia miniture golf and we'll be putting that on our schedule again in the future. Had a blast with it.

Thanks to all for comments and suggestions made over the last year. Probably won't be going back for another three years (got to pay for a couple of weddings before then) but we'll be looking to stay at the YC again. Sorry Teena, but the BC lobby is just to loud and busy for us.

I enjoyed your report. We were in room 3050 YC overlooking the pool in back of the YC. DH loved being so close to the hot tub! I agree with your comments about the difference between the 2 resorts and we are now YC fans. I still want to stay at the GF just because, but YC was super. It is elegant without being stuffy or formal. Enjoyed a couple of relaxing pre-dinner drinks sans kids (adult and dgs!) at the bar in the YC, hanging out at SAB and the porches. We really enjoyed our meals at the Captain's Grille as well.

Glad you had a great time. DH wants us to go back to enjoy a lot of the things we didn't do because of the dgs. This was for them, next time will be just the old folks!

Thanks so much for sharing your comments about your wonderful trip. Sounds like you had a great time and made some nice memories with your family. So glad you had a chance to chat with Teena! The decorations tour sounds super- we have never been at holiday time.

Way to go Katesdad. :thumbsup2 Sounds like a great trip.

I like the part about staying in the sun to warm up. Brought back memories of July :)!

Hang with the DIS to get you to your next trip.....We here understand as we are always waiting on our 'next' trip.

Fantastic! I hope to see you on Sunday or Monday over at the Beach lobby.

Didn't make it over today, but we are going to go by there tomorrow. What are your hours again?

We had a nice couple of days with slightly warmer weather, but the forecast is extremely cold the next 3 days. We've already gone parasailing, and eaten at Les Chefs, Biergarten, Boma, and Rose & Crown. Also took advantage of the Shipshape for working out and lounging in the spa. Around the World segway tour tomorrow. Le Cellier for dinner  Should be a great day!

I start at 9:30 AM. I break for a 30 minute lunch at about 12:45 PM. I then have a 15 minute break at 4:00 PM and I leave at 5:45 PM.

I just dug out my winter coat for the walk from the cast parking lot to the BC. It's beginning to feel alot like Christmas!

I just talked to the head pastry chef. The gingerbread houses are selling so fast, you now have to order them 48 hours in advance. The kits are selling out fast too but they are easier to make so they are keeping up on those as of right now. However, I expect them to be very hard to get shortly. Yesterday a man and a woman walked out with 10 kits.

Can anyone tell me what exactly the "garden View" at the YC wil consist of. For example, will we definitely NOT see a parking lot or roof?

I have only ever stayed at the YC with a water view (we were looking at lighthouse and Boardwalk resort). Unfortunately for us, it was May 2009 and poured ALL week. Only clear days were our first and last (check-out) day. Bad luck I guess. ;) It was an amazing view.

At the BC we had a Standard View that was an inside courtyard. we did have a full balcony though. Of course, all we could see was the other balconies in our courtyard. It was fine. Another BC stay we booked Water View and looked out at the volley ball nets. Most of the lake was blocked by the trees, but it too was fine.

For our May/June 2011 trip we went back and forth on the view and ultimately booked garden view. We just felt that we really don't utilize the balcony enough to be worth booking water. On the other hand, I wouldn't want a really, really bad view like a rooftop or garbage dumpster. :goodvibes

So, my question is: What exactly is a Graden View? Thanks for your help!

Teena,

I hope I get to meet you when we arrive this Sunday the 12th! Your posts have answered a ton of questions for me and I'd like to thank you in person!

How did you like Parasailing??? I'm considering it as an option for our trip, but I'm scared of heights....so don't know if I'd enjoy it. I tried ziplining this summer over one of our Beautiful BC mountains...but chickened out when I got hooked to the zipline......fear of heights just gripped me hard and I couldn't make myself step off the platform!
I have always had and interest in Parasailing, but don't want to be paralyzed by fear at the last moment again!
Did you enjoy it??

Yes, I remember you. I don't have my schedule for the 12th and 13th yet. I'll get it Wednesday. If I am working those two days, I start at 9:30 AM.

The carousel this year is so amazing!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing it!

Can't wait to see it. Hopefully our paths will cross. :cheer2:

We stayed at the Beach Club for the first time this year--splurged--and fell in love with this hotel. Location was awesome. Loved being able to walk to Epcot and the Boardwalk and Hollywood Studios. The pool was a favorite for the girls. Hoping to stay there again next September!! I was scared that I would become a Beach Club snob-and I think it has happened:rotfl:

I can't wait! Hopefully we can take the heat in July! September sounds much better:thumbsup2
