I am sorry to hear you were sick on your cruise, Teena. But I am delighted to read that you are back on the schedule!

At least for this coming Sunday and Monday. Keeping my fingers crossed for next Sunday and Monday too!

I have a question. We are booked at BCV in June and we have a daughter that had some surgery. She is mobile, but we are trying to decide if it is better to request close to the elevator or if the BCV is not as large as AKL Kidani if we even need to do that. Should we request water view? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Wow, what a great thread full of info!

Just yesterday I decided to surprise dh with a quick trip for his birthday, we will be at BC Dec 9-13th. We have never stayed anywhere besides the Polynesian CL, so this is going to be so cool......something new to keep it fresh, energized, and make the magic new for us after 10+ trips to WDW. Thank you, everyone, for the info on this thread preparing us for our new BC adventure. ;) I'm so excited to fall in love with a new resort. :goodvibes

Lots of reading to do....but wanted to say hi and "introduce" myself. :flower3:

Happy to see you back on the DISboards. Sorry about the computer and you getting sick while on your cruise. Hope you are feeling better!! Oh...and a BIG cheer for Jacob! :thumbsup2

You will love the BC! My family stayed there for the first time in August. Great location, beautiful resort, terrific pool and great staff!!

I have a question about room requests. Is it still advised to do this via fax about 5-7 days before arrival? I wasn't sure if anything has changed now that online check-in is available.

Also - thank you MnDisneygirl for the info on campfire/movies. The photo of the sign is helpful because now I know to look for a sign!

Welcome back Teena! Sorry you ended up getting sick on your cruise, but sounds like you got a little bit of rest and relaxation anyhow!

I believe it has been posted that sending a fax to the resort about requests is a waste of time. The resort gets so many faxes that these are ignored. Make sure that the CRO (Central Reservations Office) has your request.

I called CRO about a week before I checked in to make sure my request for a full balcony was still on my reservation.

One other suggestion you may have seen is that if there is a possiblity that you will ask for a change in rooms if your request has not been met, then you should not do the on-line checkin, and just do regular checkin when you get there. On-line checkin is for grab your keys and go, but if you do regular checkin, you can ask about the room location and details (full balcony or no) and if you are not satisfied, you can ask if there is another room available that would be more suitable. The checkin staff will try their best to make you happy, if there is something else available.

leaving for bcv early thursday, anyone know the movie schedule for December?

Build a Better Mousetrip still has the November movie listing up. Sounds like you are already there (lucky duck) so hopefully you have had a chance to check out the movies showing.

If anyone is there now, or just back, could you post the December movies showing at the Beach Club beach?

I have been searching this thread but can't find an answer.

Can someone tell me if the YC CL has laundry service, like on the the cruise ships, where you leave your dirty clothes in a bag and housekeeing takes it and the next day you have washed, ironed and folded clean clothes- like magic!!!

Getting ready to book for August. Would like yacht or beach club - which room category would I book for illuminations views from balcony?

Welcome back, Teena. Sorry to hear that you were sick during your cruise but it sounds like you made the best of it. I'm glad to hear that you're scheduled again this weekend. We are checking in to the YC on Sunday and I'd like to meet you. This is a great thread - I sure have learned a lot about the BC/YC. This will be our first stay at the YC and I'm sure looking forward to it.

Yes - we've used the laundry/valet service at both BC and YC. Just a warning though - it is VERY expensive!

Any reviews of Captains Grill for Breakfast or dinner? Thanks!

We ate at the Capt.'s Grill for dinner in August. We liked it so much that I'm going to book it again for our summer trip. The crab cakes, New England clam chowder and key lime pie were really good!

Welcome back Teena!

I've had bronichitis all week too. I think I would have felt a whole lot better if I was on the Castaway Cay instead of being sick here in NJ!

Here's a link to my review of the Captain's Grille (with pictures!) on our arrival night at the Beach Club. It was perfect to be able to come back to the resort after exploring on our first day, and eat right where we were staying and return to our room without any hassle. It was quiet, too, which was really helpful for a night when we were all exhausted.

Last year we went to the Cape May buffet on our arrival night, and although the meal was great, it was a little too chaotic for us to enjoy. We enjoyed the Cape May a lot more when we booked it later in our trip.

You have to scroll down to the bottom, past the EPCOT posting, to get to the restaurant review.

We will be at BC in August. I'm scared of the heat and crowds, but figure with SAB, we will spend a lot of time at the resort in the afternoon. How is it in the heat of the summer?

Any suggestions?

I'll take a shot at this one! We were there at the end of July. Hot, humid, hot, and oh, did I mention humid? Random thundershowers, often in the afternoon will close the pool if they see lightning within a certain distance. The pool water was actually quite warm, and not as refreshing as you might like, but better than nothing!

I'd say the average temp was in the low 90s and with humidity it "felt like" around 100. Being from a northern climate - it was tough, but we still did everything we wanted to. Took advantage of the A/C and did not rush around. I'm still finishing up my TR if you're interested in more - the link is in my sig.

We were just there last week. We stayed at the YC so we took advantage of Captain's Grille. The breakfast was very good both a la carte and buffet. For breakfast my husband had the omlet with lobster and he raved about it. We had dinner there the first night. Everyone had steaks and it was really good. I can't remember what dessert we had...I know I had one. DGS had a good meal as well.
Enjoy!!
