Can someone tell me approximately how big the refridgerators are in the BC? I am thinking specifically if I did a garden grocer order - and got milk for the kids for breakfast. What size will fit in the fridge?

IMG_2746-1.jpg

Here's a picture of the fridge. Silly me, it would have been a more useful photo if there was something in there to show the size! Anyone have an open fridge photo with food/drinks?

I believe 2 or 3 Half-Gallon cartons of milk/OJ would fit in the main compartment. Water or Soda bottles will fit in the door space. Please correct me if I'm wrong. We did fit a wine-carafe (of milk) in there during our stay.

Thanks!!!

Hope this helps!

If anyone has dimensions of the mini-fridge and the room safe, I can post it to the front-page of the FAQ section. I will also add to the description of the coffee maker. It is a 4-cup. Can someone confirm if the coffee maker uses a flatbottom or cone-filter? I think it is flat bottom, but I bring my own Maxwell House filter pads, so it doesn't matter and I haven't noticed.

You can purchase both at the BC Marketplace but boy are they expensive!

Hi Karalynn,

When we were there in August, I checked on a bottle of Chardonnay in the Marketplace and it was around $22!! Good idea to go with Garden Grocer. We used them (Teena's suggestion!) for some groceries and they were great.

Awesome, Thank you!!! I will just do that then. We used Garden Grocer on our last trip and it was great. Wish we had them around here, I would love to not have to go to the grocery store!!

Yes - it does help :thumbsup2. It would really be the height that was the sticking point - but if you think a half-gallon carton would fit - that is all I need.

Now just to confirm how many of the items at the F&W Festival can be purchased with snack credits :cool1:. We will save snack credits for that and buy food for breakfast from garden grocer instead.

Oh - and am I remembering correctly that we can request a Microwave for our room when we check-in?

Teena-or anyone who is informed about this--I hope this is not a repeat concern...but--I have been reading about bed bugs!! I have read that over the years and heard of it being an issue for some people....but a few things I have read lately leads one to believe there is a resurgance...no specific resorts/hotels have been pointed out, but it's kinda starting to give me the willies!!!!:scared: Some have said 'we spray the room before we unload ANYTHING"... what are they spraying, I wonder.? And I don't plan on bringing in my own pesticides from home!!! So...what level of concern should this be, and do we really need to bring any special cleaner/spray to deter the little critters?
I am not a worrier-typically, but if this is really becoming an issue I want to know how to protect my family!!Thanks:flower3:

I just heard something on the news the other night about the problem in NY. To be totally honest, in the 7 years I've been at Y&B, I've only heard of one guests complaining ... however, when she went to the doctors (Centracare), it turned out her child had heat rash. I guess it's possible anywhere ... including your own homes. I never worry about it, especially at WDW.

It's a problem throughout the US, no matter if you are doing a top of the line resort or one of a less expensive nature. Homes, schools, hospitals, hotels, anywhere people go these creatures can be brought along without the knowledge of the carrier. Since DDT has been banned, you really don't have a "spray bottle" you can bring to take care of them. Just check the room when you arrive, before you unpack, and then enjoy your stay. Worrying about them won't do you any good and it doesn't help. Just look at it as another adventure of travel.

All this talk about the CL rooms, and I was doing great resisting until I got to this posting:
For kids, the had coke, sprite, ginger ale, milk, diet coke and chocolate milk, soy milk, water, tea, hot tea, regular coffee, cappuccino machine, hot chocolate, apple juice and lemonade.

I can't remember when they offered what, but they had - duck quesadilla, meat filled dumplings, spring rolls, lobster salad, chicken (I can't remember what else ). They always had veggies, peanut butter and jelly, rolls, bread, ranch dressing, and some sort of hummus dip or pesto dip. The sun-dried tomato dip was great!

In the afternoon they had yogurt pretzels, spicy trail mix, regular trail mix, swedish fish and sugar or chocolate chip cookies.

For sweets at night they had raspberry something (very yummy), a cheesecake, oreo cookie cake (the best thing there) and cupcakes.

I'll be 26 weeks pregnant when we arrive at YC (from SSR) Nov. 19-22 and will likely do best with frequent small meals. We are planning to have lots of down time (I'm 40 and am much more tired during this pregnancy), so my point is that a CL room would be perfect. Anyway, now I want a CL room, but there isn't one available with the AP discount that I got for my water/pool-view room :-(

I'm going to keep checking. We had CL at the GF for our very first WDW trip in 2003, but we didn't use it much since we were touring. I think it's perfect for this trip though. Fingers crossed that one will open up for us at a decent price....

Teena how are you feeling? Have fun with your daughter.

Lots better but very tired. Bob actually helped with house cleaning and I'm doing lots of naps. Can't wait for Sunday to come. Thanks for the good wishes!

I'll be working October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 & 31 unless I catch another "bug". :sad1:

Hi!

I just started reading this thread (most times I'm only in the Codes and Rates).

Coming up to our 5th stay at BC/YC. This will be the first time my and DW are coming by ourselves. I'm still coming in for Gartner in the week of Oct 17th. We will be getting there on the 14th. DW will leave on the 17th, but I'll stay until the 21st. No parks this time and we'll only have the Thursday eve and Saturday for ourselves (mtgs on Friday).

That said, I heard the res system will be down until the 14th (or not sure if the 14th will also be down). I requested a king bed (as it's just the two of us), and hope to get some pixie dust and maybe get upgraded. But should I fax in the bed request or have it noted on the reservation? I won't do online check in to make sure I get a king and hopefully get upgraded.

Maybe I'll meet my first DISer?

On-line check-in has nothing to do with complimentary upgrades!!! You have just as much chance of getting a complimentary upgrade whether you do a regular check-in or an on-line check-in. These upgrades are done when the resort is oversold in a certain category and who gets them is done by the room assignor. They look for a party that fixes the problem. In other words, if we are oversold in regular waterview rooms on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, then the room assignor will look for a party that booked a regular waterview room and that is arriving Thursday night and departing on Sunday. Whether or not they did an on-line check-in is immaterial. The other type of complimentary upgrade is magic. How and why is just plain old "Disney Magic." I can tell you that asking for one is not the way to go!

If you want to ask to pay for an upgrade, you definitely should NOT do an on-line check-in since you want to spend some time with the CM to find out the price difference. As I've said so many times before, you can certainly ask for a complimentary upgrade ... it's a free world and there are no rules saying you can't ask. However, I've found in my experience on the front desk and at the resort, that the surest way NOT to get an upgrade is to ask for a complimentary one. Just my opinion!!

If you want to spend some time talking to the CM about whether or not you got your REQUESTED king bed or to ask how much it would cost to upgrade, or whether you got a full balcony, then for sure do not do an on-line check-in. On-line check-ins are designed to make your experience a grab and go. Everything is done in advance and your keys are waiting for you.

Be sure to call NOW and have "king bed requested" added to your reservation. There are very very very few king beds at the resort. Your chances of getting one, therefore, isn't good since there are so few of them. The room assignor normally gives the king beds to (1) the people that request them, and (2) the people that are there by themselves. Since there will be a convention in house, there may be lots of people there by themselves.

Great to hear Teena! And way to go Bob! Sounds like things look good for your trip. Have a great time!

Thanks Teena!

I'm calling now (rez it's thru groups reservations) to make sure. Since it's two of us checking in, I would imagine we would get a better shot at getting one? And also, since we are getting there before everyone else (most of them get there on Sunday)?

Read a few pages back of the thread and see you have not been feeling well. Hopefully some pixie dust goes your way and makes you feel better.

Andy maybe I'll be able to meet you when I'm there :)
