(P.S. My favorite is 3691 but if you ask the dissers here that have stayed in these six rooms, I'll bet you'll get all six rooms listed as their favorites.)

Hey Teena!

Thanks for all your earlier help---very much appreciated!!!

Does 3691 have a Stormalong Bay view?

Thanks!

It is one of the six deluxe rooms. It has a huge balcony and overlooks the courtyard. If you stand and look to the right when you are on the balcony, it's a view of the lake. The slide at SAB is right at that corner too.

Besides the huge balcony overlooking the courtyard, this room also has a small standing balcony which overlooks Stormalong Bay ;)

If you give me the room number, I can check the next time I go to work. See if you can figure the number out by going to: http://www.disneyzone.net/ycresort.htm

You are awesome!!!! That map is amazing.... had a little ahhhh YC take me away moment :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

The room we had was 2114 - it was a trek from the lobby but we just loved it - felt like our own little paradise :goodvibes

I know requests are just that requests but we'd love to be near that location again. Any suggestions of which category to book to have even the possibility of maybe being in the area?

Thanks again!

The things I miss most now that I live in Florida: (1) Jersey corn, (2) Jersey tomatoes, (3) Tastycakes (my favorites are chocolate tandycakes, coconut juniors and chocolate juniors and Bob's favorites are peanut butter tandycakes and jelly krimpets), (4) REAL Philly Cheesesteaks, and last but not least (5) the Philly pretzels that they sell on the street corners right over the bridge.

I'm surprised that you can't get good corn down in Florida. At Eckert's Farm in Tabernacle NJ (for the South Jersey DisBoard people: the stand is located on Route 70 in Medford and at the Collingswood Farmers market) they pick it fresh that morning and you can really tell the difference. To make an analogy for those of you not familiar with fresh picked corn, it's like the difference between fresh baked bread and the mass produced loaves in the bags on the supermarket shelves! The corn usually isn't ready until around the 4th of July depending upon the season and the Eckert family plants different seed strains so you have early varieties, mid summer and fall ripening varieties that are available until about early October!

The tomatoes from Florida we know about! :sad2: The only tomato that we can get that is halfway decent from Florida in the winter are the "Santa sweet" and "ugly" brand tomatoes. Do you know that one guy in Florida has the exclusive rights to the "Santa Sweet" seed hybridization and he licenses it for a kings ransom! Factory farms around here started to grow them in the summer when fuel prices shot up and it got to be really expensive to truck tomatoes up from the south. It seems like everyone has lost their minds and doesn't know how to grow a good tasting tomato any more. They only want to grow the ones that appear to be super model perfect and will stay on the shelves for 4 weeks! Thankfully at the roadside farm stands we can still get the best tomatoes. :thumbsup2

As for the pretzels, they have a new outfit around the area called The Philly Soft Pretzel Factory http://www.phillysoftpretzelfactory.com/#/home/ This is the place to go for pretzels as they are HOT and FRESH out of the oven and they are to die for.

Palmyra is still going strong and it's a lovely place to live. Villari's Milmarian is still open and recently had a make over featured on the Food Network. Maybe you can catch it on TV. Follow the link for more info on that. http://villarisrestaurant.com/

When I was a little girl I got to throw the nickle in the basket when we crossed the Tacony Palmyra bridge! I never missed either! Now they want 40 nickles in that basket each time you cross so it makes one think about swimming for it instead ;)

Are you staying at the BC or YC?

We are staying at the Beach club from June 10th to the 20th.

Don't know what CMs you talked to about the room categories at the BC but they definitely do NOT all have daybeds in them.

Thanks for the heads up. I will call back and change my requests to 2 queen beds with a sofa.

If you want a sofa/day bed in your room and your party mix is 3, then please don't be upset if you don't get one. These rooms (remember, only about 50% of the rooms have sofa/day beds in them) are held for families of 5 ... they have to have these rooms, so if we are pretty full and have lots of families of 5 or even families of 4 where the children are older boy and girl, they will get those rooms first.

I understand totally. Having the sofa is very important to us but if it's not meant to be then we will make the best of it. Thanks for the information! I don't want to drive the room assigners crazy so it really helps to know that I need to prioritize my requests to maximize my chances for success.

Teena thanks for all your help in answering every one's questions here on the board. I just think it's super of you to volunteer your time to do this. It means the world to us and it really exemplifies the care and concern that Cast Members demonstrate towards their guests.

Since you were so kind to share what you miss about South Jersey I thought I would share with you the top 5 things I miss about Disney World.

1) Walking into the Magic Kingdom, emerging from under the train station and being hit with the feeling that you are in paradise once again. :cloud9:

2) The breakfast buffet at the Crystal Palace. pooh: Pooh's French Toast is the Golden standard by which my family judges all other French Toasts.

3) Sitting on the rockers on the porch of the Town Square Exposition Hall and watching people leave the Magic Kingdom at night when the park closes. There is something just so wonderful about taking all that in! :goodvibes

4) The Biergarten in Germany. It's such a familiar and fun experience for us and it reminds us of family and fun times.

5) Touring Walt Disney, One Man's Dream at HS. There is something so touching about being reminded where everything came from and knowing that if you follow your dreams, wonderfully magical things can happen! pixiedust:

In Florida, they have this corn that comes into season for about a month that they think is the greatest thing in the world and Floridians go nuts over it. So, we got it freshly picked our first year here and sat down to have a dinner of it (like we do in Jersey with "real" corn). Well, after a few bites, we threw it all away. They have absolutely no clue what real corn tastes like!!!

I've had many many meals at the Milmarian. My brother owns the bar down the street from it, Park Tavern. Do you know it?

It's a garden view category now.

Hi Teena,
We are booked through a UK tour operator for August 11-Sept 1st this year and booked for a standard room. Last time we stayed there we had a room with trees outside at the far end of the resort near Epcot - is this room still a standard room - think we were 4th floor or 5th? We really want to stay at this end of the resort again - can't wait to be there,
Claire

Hi Marlton Mom- Thanks for the introduction and your awesome summary of the activity on this thread! It cracked me up! :rotfl: If you are jonesing for some more Yacht&Beach Club drama, go back to the previous thread and relive Disneymomx7's summer drama which included broken limbs, broken plans and evil air carriers.

I have posted a link about dinner at the Captain's Grille from my trip report.

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=38209501&postcount=201

We really liked it. It is definitely on the dining plan, as Teena indicated. We haven't tried the breakfast, but I would be very surprised if you needed a reservation for an early morning breakfast there. Unless they were overrun with families who were trying to get into the Cape May Character breakfast without reservations. Teena, do you know how busy it gets over there in the morning?

According to the menu and info listed in the DIS dining forum, the restaurant opens at 7 am, but I don't know if that is accurate or not. The menu for both the buffet and a la carte offerings look great!

For anybody that remembers my "Disney drama" last year - have you seen the new Southwest commercial? There's a mother and two daughters in a courtroom scene and they say how they were going to visit her mother but the daughter fractured her leg and now they charged them $150 each just to change flights! Talk about Dejavu!!!! Of course now we ALL know that Southwest doesn't have penalties if you have to change your flight and we ALL know that Air Tran has no compassion at all!!!!

We are driving down this year - I just can't stomach the thought of flying again after all our problems. Teena - since we're driving hopefully we'll be able to bring you some Jersey tomatoes in addition to the tastycakes!!!

It probably is not a standard room anymore unless you saw a roof or parking lot. It is probably now a garden/woods view. We now have three categories: standard (parking lot or roof view); garden (woods or garden view); and water (view of lake or pool).

Thanks - we don't get an option to book that type of room - just standard or pool/water view! How would we go about upgrading - would we have to try and do it through our travel agent or could we upgrade on arrival?
Thanks,
Claire

Hmmm- I didn't connect the commercial to your plight, but now that you mention it... Southwest should give you a cut of their business from that story and for the positive publicity you (Teena, too) have generated on this site!

Beach Club Villa info:

http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-bcv/

A few times, posters have provided this link for information for Beach Club Villas. I've never stayed there, or even stepped foot in the building, so I don't know anything about the villas.

This link seems to have some excellent maps and detailed info about the location of various room types.

The owner of the site has given me permission to post the link to this site, so I have added it to the BCV FAQ section at the front of this thread.

You need to revise your reservation to a garden view. If you made your reservation a few months ago, at that time we only had two categories: standard and water. Since 1/1/11, the categories have changed and we have three categories. The room you want is a garden view so your reservation should be a garden view if that's the room you want. If your travel agent calls Disney and they say no garden view is available for your dates, that means all the garden views are booked for that time period.

Hi Teena,
Thanks - I have just spoken to my travel agent who said that their contract with Disney was just for water/pool view room or standard and none of the UK websites are offering garden room so it must but a US only category!! I am so annoyed I really don't want to have to spend 3 weeks with a car park view - he said he would 'request' us a woods view room but I would rather pay and have one reserved now!
Claire

My family thinks I'm crazy for wanting to do a split stay, but that's what we're doing (less then 3 weeks!!!). Four nights at AKL and 3 nights at BC (our first time). Any advice on switching resorts? We will have a rental car. I'm thinking about having our bags picked up and delivered to BC. Only because we'll have fridge items. Am I correct in thinking they'll take our fridge items and keep them refrigerated? What kind of tip should I be thinking about? I assume tipping for the bellman picking up our bags at AKL and again for delivery to our room at BC. What about our room assignment at BC? We plan on spending the day (driving over to) DHS and checking in at the BC mid to late afternoon. We have a garden view. I think I requested full balcony and close to the lobby. Are the odds of getting my requests (and maybe even an upgrade :thumbsup2 ) worse or better depending on the time we check in? Any other advice you can offer? We have spent the past several trips at AKL and it took a lot of convincing to talk DH and DD16 into a short stay at BC. I love AKL, but having been to WDW a number of times, I wanted to try something different this time. We all love Epcot and after reading all the wonderful things on this thread, I knew BC was the place for us. I just hope the changing resorts thing goes smoothly since it was all my idea, and that it doesn't take away too much park time.

(Sorry for all the questions.)

That's not true. I have a friend from UK that booked a garden view room. Your travel agent should call Disney. It could be though that the garden view rooms are sold out for your time frame. Anyway, you can request anything you want but if you booked a standard view and request a woods view, that's not what you booked. It could be a view of a roof and woods or a parking lot and woods. You yourself can go on the Disney World website and book a garden view room.
