2010: What's on the Emerald Aisle?

I'm always excited to see what type of cars will be in the "aisles". Even though we are Executive Aisle members, the minivans we found last month were on the Emerald Aisle, so we choose from there. It is a nice perk to be able to choose from either aisle. It will again be only 2 of us next month (March 6th), but always like something bigger than a sedan. Last year we had a Ford Taurus 5 times from the Executive Aisle -- always load and always light blue. We were happy with it, but enjoyed seeing lots of different stuff during our January trip. We'll be at the BCV in March and can't wait to just relax at the DVC quiet pool! (esp. with 4 ft of snow outside right now!)

4 feet of snow!:scared1: We had about a foot earlier this week but nothing like you folks are getting.

Thanks for more info. :goodvibes We usually rent from Hertz as my DH uses them on a regular basis for work so gets nice perks. This trip he most likely will not be along for the first week so I'm going with National! I'll be sure to report what I find.

We were at BCV in January, too! Don't you love the BCV pool? My family often skips SAB just to enjoy it. This trip will be BCV/Polynesian/THV. I'll be sure to leave the lights on for you!

Thanks for the response
were speaking of the former.

Sorry. I didn't mean my post to sound so rude. The Blackberry is not so good for longer messages so I kept it brief. I wasn't aware of an Exec Aisle at MCO, in fact my ressie always says Emerald Choice not EA for MCO. As n2mm noted, this year has had much more variety in EA than even as late as last fall. Lots of new cars too as all my fall rentals had mileage at least in the teens

Yes, I do love the BCV quiet pool and so does my family. We venture up to SAB but am never there long. Wow that is alot of resort switching. I'm more of a checkin, unpack and hunker down. Though I do come in on a Friday or Saturday, stay cheap at a value or moderate, then I'm at my DVC resort at 8:00AM on Sunday morning checking in. With another 6+ inches of snow in tomorrow's forecast, my March trip can't come soon enough. I've been stuck in the house for 8 days and yesterday was my first day out and the malls were packed.

As a note on National, recently someone posted that on Side A, the National Aisles have been moved to the lower level of the gargage (like Side B). Folks using Side A (Jetblue, SW) should pay attention to the signs. Had I not seen that post, I would have just zipped up the escalators and have to turn around and head back down.

You weren't rude....I thought I had ticked you off by my question. Thanks for more info. Looking forward to checking it out in a week!:cool1:

I can't imagine being stuck inside for 8 days! Hope the snows stop for you soon.:goodvibes

I don't think we'll mind the switch at all. We usually stay at BCV Sunday through Friday after a short stay somewhere else on property. In January, we spent 7 nights straight at BCV and that was great. However, we've been missing the Polynesian where we always stayed when our children were growing up. We'll be at BCV for three nights (oh, my I need to call MS about dropping the last two!:scared1:), just two at the Polynesian and then a week at THV where we will certainly settle in and relax. I'm really excited about all three stays.

Thanks for more info about Emerald Aisle. I had no idea it was on the first floor now. I probably would have headed straight for the elevator or escalator.

Happy March planning!

I always felt this thread was fine for either sides of the aisle. We are usually short days for executive, but try to check out either side when we go. I think most of the regulars check both sides even if they are only able to use one.

As for problems going to A or B >> No big deal. Not really concerned of safety during the day the garages are busy, lots of people around. When changing cars or picking up it is just a walk through the terminal to either side. We did it once with wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much luggage > so a bit cumbersome but not impossible. ;) We had to switch a car out once and did go to both sides very easy without luggage.

Thanks everyone for keeping our thread vibrant, and useful!! Under a month to go and I get to put something up finally. mky:cutie:

Was on the Emerald Aisle on 2/6, side A, late afternoon. We contemplated going to the B side since most people seem to find a better variety there, but didn't want to drag all of the luggage across the terminal. Is the grass always greener on the B side of the Emerald Aisle? ;)

There was the normal selection of Malibu's, Impala's and Ford Focus only different kind of cars were an HHR and a Jeep Liberty . The Liberty was way down on the other side of the "road" but once we realized it was still Emerald Aisle we snagged it.

Have fun picking your ride and have a great trip!

Have an Emerald Aisle mid-size booked for March 7-14. Two adults, two kids (5 and 7), two suitcases, two carry-ons. Am hoping for a full-size, SUV, or mini-van, but would a malibu or similar mid-size be big enough for us if that is all that is available?

The Malibu trunk is huge, it just has a tight opening to get the luggage in. You should be able to fit two 24" roll-ons plus two soft bags easily.

We had a HHR last trip. It held lots of luggage and carried 4 adults easily.

A Malibu can also fit groceries and a 14-year old!

We'll be picking up a car on side A tonight and will report what we got when we're back.

Today, Wed, on the B side at 4pm there were lots of Corollas, Malibus, Impalas, a Jeep Liberty, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Compass, Ford Edge, Journey, a couple of Town and Country vans - a good mixture. We took a new Jeep Compass, still has that new car smell. :)

Thanks for posting. I arrive on Saturday and will post back once I check in and get up and running at BCV--gotta love free internet at WDW.

We were one of the lucky flights to get out of Newark NJ on Saturday 2/27. We arrived at Side A, and we had Executive Status. DH wanted a smaller car. Way in the back of the Emerald Aisle was a bright red Volvo S40 with 3806 miles on it. It was considered a standard elite. DH was happy and so was I.
My free executive membership expires today 2/28 and I wanted to pick from the executive aisle but the Volvo is sweet.

Picked up a h3 today on A side emerald isle. Don't remember much other then 2 hhrs. Once I saw that figured it was once in a lifetime ride. Not so great on gas though:scared1:

We picked up 3/6, Side A Executive Aisle and it was filled with a variety of vechicles. Many vans and SUVs. We got a Ford Edge with the new car smell still strong. Has 800 miles on it and bright red. Easy to find. We are Ford people and wanted to try it. It is the 2 of us and a perfect fit. It was very caotic trying to get out though and traffice was backed up. Not sure why. The regular aisle was filled, but just didn't notice what they had, sorry. This was the first time we've picked up on the ground floor on Side A, so was a little turn around. I need a mini van on our next trip in April and I'm sure I won't see any then...a murphey's law!

I just priced out a car rental from national out of tampa for our september trip and for a mid-size it is $539! Wow, that is even more than our condo for the week.... I don't think this is a good option for us, even if we can pick our own car!

That is the price I got for 2 weeks in March. Sounds very high for 1 week. You need a better code. check out mousesavers.com

We arrived on Wednesday, 2/24 at about 9:30 pm and the Emerald Aisle had only sedans. I'm sure it had to do with the late hour. We still have the free Executive upgrade (which was extended to Feb 2011!) so we chose a Jeep Grand Cherokee from that side. There were several larger sedans and other SUVs there as well.

We snagged a silver Ford Edge with only 400 miles on it on the midsize emerald isle on March 3.

It was very nice for luggage, groceries.
