2010 Trip planners, unite!!!

We are planning for August 2010 and hoping for free dining. Would like to book this August when rates come out and use AAA to begin with so I can at least snag some discount. When you book with AAA do you have to pay for everything right away or is it like booking at WDW site, you leave a $200 deposit and then have until the 45 day mark to pay off the balance? Just thought about it last night.

We are going in Feb 2010. This will our kids first trip to Disney. they are 5.6.9.
I have been reading the boards everyday trying to learn everything I can to make this the most magical trip ever. We are anxiously awaiting the the 2010 rates so we can get this all arranged.

Our biggest decision right now is to stay on or off the park. And if we stay on the park what is the best location for our money?

I am planning to go to Disney world for my birthday on January 2010! But I undesided which hotel should I take! POFQ or CBR! I was thinking CBR! CBR will be awesome place to stay including my birthday on January 14, 2010!

Since we had to cancel this year's trip, I have already been planning our 2010 trip. We will do a split stay with the AKL (Savannah View) because I love animals and have wanted to stay here since it opened; we'll start out at the AKL for four nights and then go to the CSR (Coronado--our home away from home) for the last five nights. We'll leave the Sunday before Labor Day as we always do. We're still undecided if we'll take a few days at Daytona Beach after or not...depends on how well the economy (and my pocketbook) recovers.

jeany, We loved CBR, but it is very widespread and there is a chance you can be quite far from things like the food court and main pool. If you don't mind walking, it is a very nice place to stay, but POFQ is definitely more intimate.

I am in too!

We are Looking at March 8-16th with a combo of WDW and time at DVC VB...

We were hoping for the Disney Cruise, but DD is motion sick, so we are skipping it for now and hope in a few years she will be over it...

I am leaning toward AKL, but no decision for WDW hotel yet.

I am excited, though... and we were just there in February!

Yesterday I was looking at the WDW restaurant menus on All Ears, and I made up a chart just for fun (yes I consider all of this FUN!), to see how much the basic DDP is going to save us on our trip next summer, according to today's numbers (I'm sure there will be a price increase by then on both the DDP and the menus). I figured the basic plan to save us around $265 if we order the absolute cheapest things on the menus at a la carte restaurants, and about $566 if we order the most expensive things at those places. Realistically, it will actually be some number in between those 2, since we do not go into a restaurant and order based on prices, we order what we want. That was why I wanted to see how much it would be if we ordered the cheapest thing. What if I am really in the mood for the chicken dish and it is the least expensive thing? I am not going to order a steak if it is not what I really want to eat.

I love all the vacation planning, especially the food. DH and I normally watch what we eat all year round, so when we are on vacation the food is very important to us. It's the one time we really indulge and enjoy without worrying so much.

May 23 2010- ? 5-10 days. Not sure how long we will stay.

I grew up going to Disney and my DH has never been! This is my first Disney vacation planned as a grownup. I'm graduating from Dental School the 21st of May and he said we could go there to celebrate! I will def be all smiles then. :rotfl:

We will also have our 3rd anniversay on the 26th when we are there! Yay!:flower3: Tentatively we'd like to stay at the animal kingdom lodge or the new Bay Lake Tower.

A couple questions to throw out:

Does anyone have a any cute Disney anniversary T-shirt ideas out there?

Also it seems like if you book in advance and then discounts come out it can be applied to your original price. Do you recommend booking before or after the discounts come out?

What is the best thread/email newsletter/website to follow to keep on top of discounts?

What a great place for good info!

You should do the Design a Tee in Downtown Disney! That way you could make your own anniversary shirts! Its new & it looks fun! :thumbsup2

By the way-all my penny pinching friends, I found the deal of all deals for airfare! We are staying at AKL CL Jan.30-Feb.7, and I found airfare for my family of four (DD is 8, and DS is 5) for.... $515!! I about passed out!!:banana::banana::banana: (thats my fam of 4 dancing in WDW, spending the $400 difference in the price we paid last time for airfare!)

We're in for 2010. Annual trip. This time we are going to try the end of June so DD doesn't miss any school or softball so it is June 28th-July 6th for us. Staying at the BWI of course-our home away from home :cloud9: Of course the countdown will feel like forever :sad2:

I have done some more planning. We decided to skip AK since there is nothing new that DS can do there. I made a tentative schedule based on last Feb calendar. I hope next Feb calendar isn't too different. We will spend more time at MK this trip b/c DS can do more there & our 1 yr old can do alot at MK. So, now I am figuring out which ADRs we want to make. So far we decided on Calif Grill, Chef Mickeys, & Biergarten. I love planning so much!

We are going Jan 2010. 6 months away and I can hardly wait:cheer2:!!! It'll be our 3rd annual WDW trip. We have stayed at POP the last 2yrs and have been completely happy w/ it. But we want to experience another resort this time around. Hopefully Disney will have other great promotions like the Buy4 Get3 Free & the Free Dining Deals!!! I spoke w/ a Disney rep yesterday that said the 2010 dates and rates will be available mid summer (July) and that they would announce the new deals. he also said that the "Buy 4 Get 3 Free was a huge success for Disney this yr." :dance3:

We're planning or I should say I am planning Oct 2010 (though our 8/09 is around the block, :cool1:) 25 year Anniv. and thinking POLY BUT now thinking swan/dolphin....VERY on fence......it would be a quick 3-4 day trip and will only do MK one day........Our actual Anniv trip is Back to MEXICO, the dh Favorite....but I just HAD to have a disney stint :rotfl2:

I am starting to plan for our '10 trip. We are going to try end of August for the first time. We only go during value periods to avoid crowds and save money. We have gone in January the last two years and have had great luck with crowds and good look with weather 80% of the time (some days with highs in 40s, others in the 80s). The reason for the change is as the kids get older, we are less comfortable pulling the kids out of school. Worried that the late August crowds will be too big and we are respectful of how hot it is going to be. But, it's good to try new things. We're going to try a new resort too and either stay at the Poly, WL or CSR depending on how well off we feel at the time of booking and what airfares are. Hopeful that there will still be free dining!

Oooh, I so hope they do buy 4 get 3 free in 2010. Please, please, please.

We are going for sure in 2010, but we really shouldn't be spending as much as rack rate, so I do hope they release something to give us a financial break.

I am planning a trip for my family and a friends family for May/June 2010. We have been to Disney several times, but every member of the other family coming with us never been. I cant wait to see the Disney with them, this will be an amazing trip!!
