2010 Trip planners, unite!!!

We are Planning to go to Disney for January 2010 for my birthday and staying in the ASMO!

Okay, so after scouring the boards for a week and going over, and over, and over the budget... I think I can do this! Moreover, I think I can do it on my own!! (Without help from DH who isn't on board and usually plans all of our vacations) So, I've decided, its going to be A SECRET!!!! I'm waiting on rates to be sure, but we're probably going May 17-21. (Might have to bump it back to April) I'll tell the DH on the 8 hour trip to my parents the day before we leave (I'll have the parents drive us to the airport so we don't have to leave the car in airport parking). I'll tell the kids at 3:00 am the next morning before we catch our first flight out. (I'm making them shirts that say, "I'm going to meet the Mouse").

Okay so, just to be clear 11 months 1 week and 6 days of a secret. (and to undertake my biggest solo planning project EVER)

Does your husband work? If so, will you just request the time off for him? I would have no trouble keeping it a secret from my kids, but not sure I could do it from the hubby. Good luck! :)

I just found this thread and I'm so glad I did. I've been planning a May 2010 trip for a few months now and EVERYBODY thinks I'm crazy. I keep telling everyone now that it's less than a year away and I need to plan early so I know approximatly how much to save... but they don't get it. I'm so glad there are other early planners here to talk over plans with.

As of now I'm hoping to stay at AKL (CL would be awesome... but that depends on the budget). If there are no good deals for AKL we'll probably stay at CBR. We'll be celebrating our 10 yr anniversary so I'd really like to do something nice and my DH would be over the moon if I could get a good deal on AKL. Here's hoping. Anyone know if there are any codes usually available in May. I know this years 4/3 deal isn't a normal special... is there any discounts that are pretty consistant?

Thanks!
erin

We are going June 12-22, 2010 and will try the Poly for the first time. I have found that the EMH and park hours don't change much from year to year so it is fun to play with a schedule now and see if it works in a year. It is also something good to go on if for some reason park hours aren't posted before dining plans can be made. I am looking forward to reading the boards to see how it went for people going the same time this year.

how far in advance does pricing and/or discounts come out?

Basic prices are usually released around early August. Discounts vary greatly, anywhere from 6-3 months in advance seems to be the usual.

I am so glad there is a 2010 thread! I'm pretty sure DH is on board for September for our second anniversary. :worship: Free dining is a must to be able to go. I'm trying to decide on between the second or third week for probably five nights. Trying to decide on ASMo, Pop or ASMu. I'm so excited, I can't wait to book it.

Free dining is a huge selling point for getting my dh on board for a 2010 trip as well. What would be ideal for me would be having it coincide with the food & wine festival at Epcot because I think my mom may be joining us for the next trip...

We just returned on Thursday and I'm already planning our 2010 trip!!! It's so very depressing when your trip is over. Don't you find that the only way to survive the "grief" is to just jump right back into planning your next trip? :thumbsup2 We've always stayed at the Values but for our next trip I think we're going for Port Orleans Riverside. I love having a year to pay off our trip!!!

I absolutely LOVEEEE POR. It's so relaxing. Good choice!!

And yes, I think the only way to get over the grief is to IMMEDIATELY start planning another trip. Even if it's two years away (like mine are, two years apart) it's ok, it's still in the works!

Do they ever have any good packages during March - things like 4/3 or free dining?

We have a room booked for 2010 in mid-March, so we are going for sure, and budgeting for the full rack rate, but I would be so much happier if we could get all that we want for a bit less.

I'm hoping for a discount, but guessing that March is such a busy time that they do not need to offer any discounts.

Anyone have any experience from the past that will give me a glimmer of hope?

Count us in too. We are taking our DS13 and his BF13 from June 28 - July 8, 2010 as an 8th grade graduation gift and we will be staying at the YC CL and HRH. Our son has gone to Disney every year (sometimes twice a year) since he was 8 months old. This will be his BF's first time ever going. So we are super excited. :flower3:

I'm jumping in with both feet with all you 2010 planners!!:goodvibes It's wonderful to share in the excitement with all the fellow DIS'ers! We just got back from our vacation a few weeks ago (poly may27-june 2). The post-vacation blues hit hard! Not sure on dates yet, but wanting to do a split 10 day stay between AKL and poly. Never stayed at AKL before and really looking forward to it! pixiedust: Here's a little pixie dust wish for some great discounts and promotions for all of us planning a 2010 wdw vacation!

count me in! I'm putting together a spring break trip for my family the end of March/Beginning of April 2010!!! YAY!!! I'm thinking we will stay at BCR for the very first time :) hoping it will be all I've heard it is!

Disney uk site has the dates upto December 2010 available. PLus from 1 Aug - mid November with free dining!

x

I hate to sound like a pest, but just curious do dates for free dining in UK always go longer than our free dining offers? Just thinking the liklihood for Aug 1ST is about zero here, but it would be super if I could get free dining for Aug 15TH-24TH. I do realize that we will not know this until April of next year, but thought someone might have past experience of the dates of UK offers compared to ours.
