2010 news from the Magic

I do agree, it is necessary, and I just wonder why they got it wrong for 2009, ok they are now selling and the prices are going up, bu they didnt set the world alight, and didnt open to a mad dash like West Coast or the Med.

I'm kind of thinking that many of those 2009 cruises selling now are place holders for folks waiting to transfer to 2010.

I know for me, I have absolutely no interest in the 2009 cruise we have booked, I'm planning to move it to a 2010 date, possibly one of the June Baltics (if St. Petersburg is included).

For the PPs who have school issues...

We thought pulling our child out for 2 weeks for the WB PC was going to be an issue. It turns out that our school district has an independent study program. We as parents and the child sign a contract to promise to complete all work while "absent". (the teacher gives the work pack upon signing the contract) If work is turned in completed on the day of return, the student is considered in attendance. Check with your school district. It does kind of suck to have to do work on the boat, but it beats the alternative of missing out on a great experience.

We are looking at the first Baltic and the itinerary before it. That depends on what it actually is. We were also thinking of using our DVC points to stay in London for a few days after. or use them for a few days before if the intinerary before the 1st Baltic doesn't interest us.

Our plan exactly! If we don't like the cruise before or it goes to the ports we already went to then we will go to London a week before the cruise.

I am so excited about this. It is crazy because it is 2 YEARS away. I am also worried that it is a big psych out. one of my friends heard that sales will be open 10/11. i don't know where she heard that from. There is so much conflicting information. what is really sad for us is we know someone who works very "high up" at Disney. He is lovingly laughing his butt off at us right now as we tell him all the speculation we have heard. He knows and of course can't tell.

Thank you for the info but, for me doing all that work on board is no vacation. I have six kids and 2 of them are in the gifted program in Middle School. I would not even think about taking them out of school for 2 weeks. We took them out for one week in 2007 and 2008 but, we have decided that we will probably not do that again.

Disney is probably not counting on many families with school aged children doing these cruises. At least not the TAs or Repos.

While on our Mex Riviera cruise, we rebooked a dummy 2009 cruise and had the agent send our waitlist request to Inventory Control for "whatever repositioning cruise back to Florida" took place in August 2010. I guess I outsmarted myself. I kind of thought that the ship would be doing a TA in August. I can't see doing a TA in September. Now I have to wonder what they will do with my request. Maybe I'll try amending my request on Oct 7. I hope it works out.

I can totally respect that. My DS is 6, so the work load was light. That and the fact he is my only child. A lot easier to do with one than it is with 6. In retrospect, I remember seeing a few kids here and there on deck 4 doing school work. Hopefully you find an itinerary that works for you!!

i guess that would be something to look in to. i so badly wanted to be on the repo back to florida....we'll see....

Our district has the same program, which we were very happy with when we sailed 2 years ago in November. We also used the time on the plane to get a portion of the homework done!

for a few of you that have mentioned changing from Europe to the Christmas cruise in 2010 - think long and hard before you swap to Christmas - oh all right just think long enough to let me book my Christmas cruise first!!

We were on the 10-night Xmas cruise in 2006. VERY not full. I'm sure you'll be fine getting a room.

If not for the new itineraries, we would probably book the long Xmas cruise again. It was awesome!

Ok....I've been reading all the threads and see lots have people have already put in their requests for 2010....how will that impact someone (me) who wants to use some DVC points for the trip? Will everything be "held" and not available? We can book 2 years out so on the opening day it will be a mad house....for the Med cruise it took me 3 hours on the phone to get my booking! I did get what I wanted too... ..I was at work and wanted to put them on speaker while I was on hold but I was so afraid I would cut them off. The DVC advisor didn't come back either with updates because she was also afraid she would get cut off from being on hold at DCL....
So any ideas how this new booking date will work?

Also I am just going to book for DH and myself....DD in college and working and has no idea if she can go that far out...does anyone know if I can add her later with points in my room?

You might want to consider renting your points out for $10 per point on the rent/trade board, and then use the cash to book your cruise. You'll save LOTS of points or money doing it this way. I know we've discussed this some already on this thread, so sorry if I'm repeating myself. Talk to Steph (taysmom) for a hard lesson learned by booking with points on our Med cruise.

I'm with you there. I always thought they'd be packed. I realize it's prime time but still, why charge 10K per cabin and sail with empty cabins?
