2010 news from the Magic

We were on the Aug. Repo and we had gorgeous weather. Like you I absolutely loved the sea days. I read all six books I had brought with me and ended up having to buy something in the airport to read on the flight home.

What stops did you have for the repo?

OMG its taken me an hour to go through the posts since yeaterday!! :rotfl2: We have been busy DIS-ers!!

I just screamed out loud when I saw the Copenhagen port lists. DH and I have been planning a Baltic cruise for several months now, and I have been doing TONS of research to see which cruise we should do, what ship, etc. Each line seems to do their own variation of the Baltic, Baltic capitals, etc. But we weren't sure which cruise line to do since we have only done Disney or HAL.

We are planning the Baltic for our 10th anniversary cruise, but we were going to go in 2009. Now we just ahve to wait until 2010, so we can do the cruise we have dreamed of, on the boat we did our honeymoon on!  I think its Karma!!!

This is a perfect marriage (no pun intended) for us: Baltic Disney Cruise.

 Give me a whooo hooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the calendar for the port at Copenhagen.

http://www.tv.cphport.dk/coins/KbhHa...enAgent&lang=1

Choose 2010 and then click the right hand arrow at the top and scroll to June. You should see the Disney magic listed.

I found this from another message board. The website shows the port schedule for Copenhagen for 2010 with the Disney Magic making several stops.

This looks like it confirms where the Magic will be in 2010.

Well, the ship was about half full. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong). There were just over 300 kids on board. (1,000 is capacity I think)
There were somedays when my girls were the only kids in the club for hours at a time. They got one-on one attention from the counselors and they never wanted to leave the club. There were special menus, special events such as a Princess tea party for all the little girls. I always had the deck 4 lounge chairs by myself. We think one day we hit a whale. (that's the running theory), we were spied on by a military jet (again, theory is it was an Algerian military plane)
what else....The Rainforest sauna was DH's private sanctuary, cool deck parties, and incredible DCL"surprises".

Just to name a few of the great things we got to do!

Hey Jenn, Nice to see you and your new face avatar! Just got your email. I wasn't paying enough attention when I saw Steph, Gydell and Marilyn posting until I got Jenn's email about this thread. Nice to see everyone I know over here!

Well, this is very exciting to know for sure the general area. We wouldn't do the TA again because of school. But for those of you out there, the med TA EB was our favorite cruise so far (with the 11 night)

There are some ports that we would be interested in doing and many that we would not. We were pretty set on doing a trip to Hawaii, but we'll wait to see what the plans are for 2010. We're pretty tight on money these years with Kinder tuition, but maybe saving some DVC points would be a good thing! We've never done the caribbean, so we may do that instead. We're planning to go to the 2012 Olympics, so we have to watch our planning and not go overboard. :rotfl:

Wow!!! We took the kids to Busch Gardens for the day, and look what happens while we're gone!

Yes, Steph, I'm very impressed!!

Its so easy to get caught up in all this - just not sure if we'll be able to do this one. After the 07 Med trip, we said that we wouldn't do another "destination" cruise. On the Med 07, we didn't feel like we had enough time to explore in Europe + not enough ship time either. I like the idea of spending a week in London and then a TA back home, but I don't think the dates will work for us. We get out the first week of June but go back the Monday BEFORE Labor Day. Also, the airfares are SO high. We'll probably book it like everyone else, and then shop airfares when they are available + cross our fingers for the special cat 12 pricing. Like others, we switched to cat 12 on the Med trip and then landed a cat 9 room - LUCKY!

Would LOVE a week in London though - Forget Big Ben - Mama Mia is calling my name (gotta love those platform heels and spandex), and the pubs are calling my hubbie's! Just not sure how you explain the 3 dads thing to a naive 9 year old - or the 11 year old either??? Oh yeah, and I guess the kids can't belly up for a pint either. This could be a bit of a problem!

My son was crying before bed tonight that our cruise was far too short, 15 nights! He better get a job on there! I told him thats 5 x Wonder 3 night cruises, and 2 x a 7 night with a bonus day!
Awwww
My son has been whining that it went by too fast- and we were gone a total of 20 days for vacation counting DL before! I think my entire family is completely spoiled now.... 7 day cruises wil seem VERY short after this!

Well, if my notes are correct that I got out, we had a variation in the number of passengers between Port Canaveral and Barcelona, Spain, with varying numbers from 1,902 and 1,908 when I checked them. We picked up some passengers in Castaway Cay because they missed the ship in Port Canaveral. Then we had some getting off and on throughout the rest of the voyage (including entertainment).

The approximate maximum kids is somewhere around the 1,300 mark. We have cruised with 1,300 kids for Thanksgiving and Christmas and believe me, it is quite different than the 300 you will experience on the May crossings! You hardly even notice the kids. On the 5 night Magic I just got off yesterday there were only about 500 kids. It was great!

The six days at sea were wonderful. The rocking and rolling wasn't that bad. (I get motion sickness really easy) and I just took a bonine each morning and I never felt sick.

Once we left Castaway Cay the weather did get cooler, but we expected that, having talked about it on the disboards for months before the cruise.

I would love to do the crossing again, but I am sure the date will fall right in with her high school graduation. I just now mentioned to her that for her graduation present it looks like we will be cruising in Copenhagen, Oslo and whereever else the Magic will take us. We might even try to add an Adventures by Disney on at the tail end of the cruise before she comes home and gets ready for college. This would be our last big hurrah before she leaves the nest, goes to college (and hopefully gets an internship at WDW in the entertainment end and can hopefully be in one of the stage shows!) Well, that's my dream anyway.

Can't wait till October 7th!

Hey Jenn, Nice to see you and your new face avatar!

Don't you love it? David Morse is my new celebrity crush!!!! Bye bye Antonio!  Though I still love it when telemarketers don't know how to pronounce my last name and end up calling me "Mrs. Banderas"
I never correct them!!!:rotfl:

Here is my dilemma. We have a cruise scheduled for 11/09. Will it be too late then to book a 2010 cruise to get the onboard re-booking discounts? We probably would be able to do either a Baltic cruise or the WB TA, since our kids don't usually start school until after Labor Day.

Or should I book it this October when it first comes out and then cancel and re-book when I'm onboard in 11/09?

The second thing you said. By 11/09, the prices may have increased enough to cancel out any 10% onboard discount.

I ran into David Morse a year or two ago here in Richmond when he was filming the John Quincy Adams movie. He was having dinner at my favorite sushi restaurant. I didn't know who he was at the time - knew he looked familiar but couldn't place him until later.

Looks like after the Magic calls in Copenhagen it heads to WARNEMUNDE which is for Rostock Germany

I see some of my med cruisers on here??
JSmom2 weren't you on the med also? June 16? I can't remember names too well.

I will have cruises planned with disney for 4 years with this..repo in 2010, pc in 2011, alaska in 2012 and mexico in 2013..my dd will be 15, do you think she'll become bored with disney?

Hi Steph!
Yes Jasmine and I were on the Med cruise with you and Tay. And yes, she may become bored with just DCL by that time. We did the Baltics on Crown Princess in June, and Jasmine LOVED Princess. I spent most of the time comparing them to DCL, but am going to give them another try next year. The Baltics are so busy that I didn't have a lot of time to really try out the ship. Last month we did an Eastern Med on Navigator of the Seas, and then a Western Med on Independence of the Seas. The ships are amazing! We both thought the entertainment was better on DCL and Princess, but we had an awesome time! The Independence is amazing! We still love DCL, but it was nice to experience something different.

WE will be on the magic when they open up, is the future cruise desk open evry day on the ship?

On the day you board, check the schedule. If they are not open that day then you can fill out a card at the desk and drop it in the dropbox. Tell them what sailing and cat you want, and you'll get a confirmation sent to your room!

If you are going for the ports, then I recommend booking the least expensive cruise you can find. NCL probably has the most competitive rates going now. You'll get frustrated trying to tour all day and then do everything onboard the ship.

Hi Jodie,
Cruising is still a great way to see Europe - especially given the exchange rate. But as you said, it's frustrating when you want to enjoy the ship AND see the destinations. We did a Greek Isle cruise on Costa for about $1200 for Jasmine and I. We had an inside cabin, but we went to 5 ports in Greece, Italy and Croatia. Also if you do research on the history of the ports ahead of time it makes the sightseeing MUCH more interesting, especially for the kids. We watched some awesome DVDs on the History of the Tsars.

If you prefer a land vacation though definitely check out the Adventures By Disney trips. They give you an immersive experience that is absolutely amazing! We did Germany last year and are doing Austria/Czech Republic next year.

Looks like after the Magic calls in Copenhagen it heads to WARNEMUNDE which is for Rostock Germany

From Rostock you can take the train into the former East Berlin. It is SO worth it! We did a "Berlin on your own" tour through Princess, and had a great time. You can take the train on your own for less money but then have to worry about making connections etc. The Disney movie "Night Crossing" was a great prep for this port.

I really hope you are right Andrew and that there are further itineries after the 21st July otherwise that puts us UK teachers and parents right out of the picture with the UK Holidays

Helen my house is 35mins away if you'd like a bed for the night!:goodvibes

Thank you Lynn:thumbsup2

Did you have a good cruise this year -Dave and I have really bad Disney blue

I do hope they stay around in Europe until we get out of school:eek:

Ha, that was me who posted the link to the Copenhagen port. I just nicked it from here!!!

I'm really warming to this itinerary now. Originally I didn't want to do N. Europe at all - too close to home, and I really want blue sky, sun, and warmth!!!

Have a friend who is at present on a Baltic sailing with NCL from Dover - 12 nights I think it is and await her return with interest.
