2010 news from the Magic

I'm am really convinced now that the Magic will not be coming home. DCL is expecting delivery of the first ship "late 2010" (according to the captain on the wonder last month). Why wouldn't they just keep the Magic over in Europe--if that's where she's staying--and let the Wonder do the carribean for 4/5 night cruises through the fall. Then the new ship--which we know will be based in PC--will arrive for the Holiday sailings 2010.

I can't wait to see the itineraries. I would guess they'd do the Baltic/UK over the summer and then the med through the fall/winter season.

Too many choices :)

EB Transatlantic in April? Are they wanting an all adult sailing? We had no problems with taking our girls out of school for the Med. repo (we lost the last 7 days of school), but in the middle April? Kids would be missing at least 2 weeks of school, and in April there is still major academics going on.

I was really wanting to do the EB transatlantic again, but will have issues if it really is in April. :headache:

I understood the first of the new ships is still in the design and concept stage and will not be ready until February 2011. The Magic will return to Florida in September 2010.

Do you not think, as someone has already said, that because of Spring Break more children will be able to go on the EB?

He said in August that it was ahead of schedule and would be delivered in 2010. He seemed pretty sure. He said it at the Castaway Club party. Maybe someone else can confirm?

Wow, much more to muddle over. I don't think I want to do a TA out of Barcelona (expecting that better airfare deals could be found flying to London). I would definately prefer the Baltic to a repeat of the 07 Med ports. However, if the focus was more Greece/Italy it would be a hard decision. And if these shorter 'transitional cruises' involved some UK ports of call they would be tempting...though flying round trip into/out of two different cities could be pretty pricy. My brain is starting to hurt :headache:

Well, if they all look good but too much $$, I think I'd have to book a Christmas 2010 cruise as a consolation prize! ;)

.

The TA out of Barcelona wouldn't be too bad. One way on Aer Lingus into Barcelona via Dublin isn't bad at all.

In light of the new info, I've just emailed my TA to tell her that we can be available for one of 4 of the Europe-based cruises!!! I so want her to be ready to get us on the Magic in 2010...

We missed out on the Med cruises last year so I would relish the opportunity to do one of those tho' my DS favours the Baltic if St Petersburg is on the itinerary - we are easy to please and looking forward to the release date in October... :goodvibes

Sounds good, Cat 1?????:thumbsup2

Many Spring Breaks fall between mid March to Early April. Usually no later than Easter. Easter is April 4, 2010. Ours is usually the 3rd week in March.

Does Iberia fly your way from Barcelona? If Not BA British Airways has a link with them so you could add on, Via London.

We flew Iberia to Barcelona out of New York (via Madrid) for the Med trip last year. Our flight was less than $1,000 per person. Other than 1 EXTREMELY rude steward, everything went fine.

Plus, if I'm reading this right the EB would be to the UK, followed by the 7/8 day that moves it over to the Med. Duh. I think I need to just let it all go till we have exact dates and itineraries. :sad2:

Who has spring break in the middle to end of April? I know of no one who has Spring break the middle of April. Easter falls on April 4th. Spring break usually falls before Easter or that actual week approaching Easter.

Well hopefully you wouldn't get him again but I think they would be best as they are the Spanish carrier, by then they could well be Merged/part of the link up between American Airlines and BA.

Ours is either the week before OR the week after Easter - always one of those two weeks.

Ah, then the April Transatlantic might not be too full of children then.

Sorry, I don't know your school holiday procedures, I was going of this post below.

I think Disney is hoping that a TA in April will get more takers than the May one did. Kids are on spring break and could miss 1 more week of school. But it would be hard to link up with another cruise because of the school issue. If this is what happens then I am looking at the Baltic with a week before in England.

In our neck of the woods (MA and New England), there is an April vacation for primary and secondary schools that occurs in the third week in April (the week of Patriots Day).
