Thanks Jud! I am from Rutland, MA... dead-center of the state. Small town with no traffic lights but we have two Dunkin's so I survive! I live in one of the towns that got pummeled in the December ice storm last year. WOW, wouldn't it be nice to be in WDW instead of MA to celebrate the anniversary of that!

EDIT- and to everyone in the 495 and Sutton area... since I live in the middle of nothing I am always shopping at Marlboro, Natick, Wrentham and Millbury. If you ever see a small white SUV with 3 Disney stick-figure decals on the back and a MA license plate with the stick-figure children on it stop me! LOL

Morning everyone!

Just checking in to say hi, and to wish all the Round 2 folks good luck... and to everyone who did not move on, I want to say: I know how you feel! I was interviewed in 2008 for the first Mom's Panel and didn't make it. Last year, I only progressed to Round #2.... I know the feelings of being crushed and rejected - but I truly feel all of you are special and wonderful. I hope the hurt and disappointment doesn't impact your love of the Panel or of WDW.

I can't imagine how hard it is to be on the other side of this process - picking from up to 20,000 applications! I'm sure Laura and Leanne (and anyone else) weigh each application carefully - they know how many hopes and dreams are in each and every one of those essays!

So, now as we start "the day after", I hope that the disappointment is just a little less, and your hearts a little lighter. And that everyday it continues to ease...

Thank you to Twende for all your hard work in putting the round 2 list together. I am sure there are probably more out there lurking until the next round.

I just submitted my photo and essays. and an extra dose of pixie dustfor all who have already entered their essays and will be over the next two days! Best wishes to all!

What am I going to do now that I am not going to be checking the boards and e-mails every few minutes for a couple of weeks?

I'm with you there. As many trips as I've taken(including the 8 last year!!) and planned for my family and friends, you'd think I would know how to do it by now. DH said I go so much that they should say, "oh, it's you again" when I call to make my reservations!

I put exactly 100 words in my last two entries and it didn't help me.

I didn't do it on purpose!

I read somewhere later, though, that just because it says 100 words doesn't mean it is? And that can DQ you, too? But that is totally a rumor. Next year I won't exceed 95...just in case!




For my friends in the waiting room (the first thread) that are interested, there are TWO new Make a Wish pre-trip reports on the Pre-Trip Reports board that are new and need some people to follow and help them plan! One of the poor Mom's posted 4 times before she got any answers.

Congrats again to everyone that has advanced to Round 2 and I hope you are hard at work on your next set of questions. I wish all of you the best of luck and am anxiously waiting to see who is selected to join our Panel family.

On a side note, I hate to hear of anyone feeling rejected if they did not move on. From someone who made it all the way to the phone interview the first year, I understand the disappointment but please know this is not about rejection. Everyone of us is very qualified to give Disney advice due to our knowledge and love of the Mouse. It has to be the hardest thing to sit there and read application after application and make a choice. It may just come down to an extra shake of pixie dust on one application over the other and no one should feel rejected. Hats off to all of you for your time and love to such a wonderful place!

Another DISer here who's excited to be advancing to Round 2!

There are so many people on this board full of love for and knowledge of Disney -- I feel so honored and fortunate to have made it to Round 2. I wish all DISers could have moved on -- everyone here is so qualified to be on the panel! I understand first-hand the disappointment that many are feeling: I tried to log in yesterday through the link that was posted in the other thread and received the "Invalid User/your email is not in our database of approved applicants" message. I was quite surprised to receive the congratulatory email a few hours later!

I agree with what Margaret has said above, please don't in any way feel as though you've failed, the odds of being chosen were so small and I'm sure you would all have made a fantastic addition to the panel I know that I would never have been chosen without all the knowledge that I've picked up here on the DIS so continue posting your tips and writing all your fabulous trip reports, you never know next year you may get chosen

Are there any Round 2 folks that made it that are single with no kids? I figure I am one of the only people of that demographic that attempted to get on the MOM's Panel! But I was just curious!
