2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

Hope everyone has a great weekend.....keep the waiting room chair warm for me, I'm off to the World until Monday. The weather is suppose to be really warm this weekend highs in the upper 80's and lows in the upper 60's. Of course something us Floridians are use to.

Looking forward to a great weekend and then hopefully some exciting news Tuesday.....

Question for Waiting Day 5 aka "They are reading your essays" Day:

What is your first memory of Disney? Go back as far as you possibly can on this.

My first memory comes from my first visit to Disneyland in CA. I was with my parents, my brother, and my grandparents. I will never forget the flowers. They were everywhere and the Street of Flowers was incredible! What a fabulous smell and sight. It is certainly ingrained in my memory.

This same trip, in the summer of 1962, also brings back an image of seeing the Osmond Brothers Quartet perform in Disneyland and as we left that show, I was able to see and say hello to Mr. Walt Disney himself.:goodvibes
Here is a clip from the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp-JAZQJWcc

My first memory of Disney World came years later .,,,... ummmm...obviously!:rotfl:
This memory was checking into the Contemporary Resort in March of 1972. What a magnificent structure. My parents had friends whose daughter was the head buyer for the merchandise at Disney. She got us the room on the top floor of the resort. What a spectacular view from that lovely super modern looking room. This DD of my parents friends promised us a tour of the underground structures but we were so busy seeing the Magic Kingdom and that we decided to delay the tour she offered for another visit. Sad to say but she and her fiancée were killed in a small plane crash before we ever got that tour. It was such a tragedy. I will never forget her for making our fist visit to Disney World so very sweet.:goodvibes
First Memory of Disney??

I was about five years old -- They asked if anyone knew the words to the Davy Crockett. I don't know where I found the courage, but I raised my hand. I was invited to sing "Davy Crockett" on the stage of the Horseshoe Palace -- that wonderful variety show in Frontierland! I think they put a coonskin cap on my head and I quietly sang "Born on a mountaintop in Tennessee..."

What a wonderful question! I had forgotten that memory until I saw Twende's question.

Good luck to everyone!! I hope you all move to round three!!

The question for Waiting Day 7 is:
Name and tell us about your favorite Disney animated and non-animated movies.

Lady and Tramp will always hold a special place in my heart. I can watch it over and over. I adore the scene with the spaghetti!

Picking a non-animated favorite is a bit more difficult. As I child I loved The Three Lives of Thomasina. Something about the love and hope that was expressed in that movie just stuck with me. I do not own a copy of it but when ever I can see it, I do. A more modern favorite is National Treasure. I enjoy the mix of adventure, history, and romance that is portrayed in this movie. This one I own and can watch at my whim.

So what strikes your fancy?

My favorite character has to be mickey, after all, it was all started by a mouse! The best interaction I've ever had with him was in TT with Mickey and minnie this past august. it was ds's first visit to the world, and i was determined for him to get a picture with mickey. we waited n line probably 25 minutes, and ds fell asleep wth his head on my shoulder. he woke right up though when we went into the room with the characters, and he smiled big for the pics, and even reached out to point to mickey's nose. we have n identical picture of my sister when she was 3 doing the same thing! he smiled all through the pics (instead of being terrified liek he was at crystal palace) and i got my perfect pic!

My favorite cartoon movies would have to be The Little Mermaid and Aladdin. I remember when Aladdin came out and I went with my mom and my "boyfriend" and his brothers, (I was 9) and I thought it was the best date movie EVER! (I still do :rotfl:)

My favorite live action movies are the POTC trilogy. When I was pregnant I had a hard time sleeping so every night I watched a few minutes of one of them until I dozed off, and it would keep playing. When I had my ds, I had to hve an emergency c-section and they ended up having to put me all the way under because the epidural wasn't effective enough (as in, I could still feel it when they started cutting) and I had a wierd hallucination/dream that featured Captain Jack Sparrow himself! Sometime I tell people thats why I call my son Jack... you should see the looks they give me! :rotfl2: (He was actully named after my grandfather who passed away the year before, and was named John, but everyone called him Jack, same with my son) After our first trip to Disneyland we drove through L.A. and right in front of Graumanns there were a bunch of charcters out front. One of them was Cap'n Jack! I immediately parked and got ds out and asked the actor to hold him so I could get a snapshot. It was priceless! The actor looked at me like i was crazy when I handed him my 5 week old son, but he was a good sport about it!

No. this was at Disneyland and was a long time ago. You rode in cars and wnet by this shrinking ray gun. There were snowflake images projected up on the wall.

Okay, so I just googled 'shrinking ride at Disney' and found a Wikipedia site that lists all PAST attractions at Disneyland! How cool is that! The ride I am remembering was called:

1967–1985, Adventure Thru Inner Space This originally Monsanto Company sponsored ride seemed inspired by Fantastic Voyage, a popular film of the year before the ride was first presented. It was a dark ride that pretended to shrink the rider gradually down to microscopic size within a snowflake, then further to view a water molecule in the flake, then finally to the point where one could see the throbbing nucleus of a single oxygen atom (but didn't "dare" shrink further), with electrons zooming all around. The ride's entryway featured a floor-to-ceiling spiral network of strings down which evenly spaced droplets of oil slowly ran, appearing to be sparkling liquid beads in nearly suspended animation. From the line inside the entry, line-standers could watch other riders in their 3-person cars disappear into a shrinking machine and then see the other shrunken riders (actually scale-model cars and riders) appear in perfect synch and then disappear into the ride. Within the ride at one point, a gigantic eye perused the riders through a huge microscope lens. Now the site of Star Tours.

I remember this too. THere was a time in my life when I started to think I was imagining it, but it was real :)

These are such fun questions...
Favorite animated movie - Cinderella, I just love Gus-Gus, and I am an easy mark for a happy ending.

Favorite non-animated - Pollyanna, I loved Hayley Mills and I so believe in the "Glad Game".

I missed day 6- My favorite charactor(s) are Chip and Dale (Tico and Teco) - hence Tico Fan!!

Where is everyone today?

What day do you guys expect to hear about Round 3?

You guys getting excited yet?

popcorn::

wow it was quiet today!!

Maroo- I was thinking about your post about the photopass cd's and i have decided it really disturbs me that diney charges for them at all. i mean those photos represent some of the most lasting memories these families would have! how can you put a price on them?? I really wish they would just donate them, or at least charge them a nominal fee liek $25 or something. I will gladly add my name to the cause!

Maroo- nevermind, i just read that it was all taken care of! congrats, and rock on, its great of you to work with disney on a solution!

Well, only 2 more days to go before notices start going out.

I am getting both excited and nervous for each of you! You've made it so far! C'mon and go all the way! :thumbsup2

Hang on kiddos the ride is getting ready to start up again! Good luck to each and every one of you!!!!!

Good morning all! Just trying to keep busy to not think about Tuesday.

I missed yesterday's question.

My favorite animated movie is the Lion King. I vividly remember sitting in the movie theater when the opening sequence started and realizing this was different than any other animated movie I had ever seen.

My favorite Disney non-animated movie is old school - The Shaggy DA. Loved the English Sheepdog that he turned into.

Just a few more days!!! :grouphug::grouphug:

2 more days, yikes!! I must confess to Twitter- stalking a few folks and it seems like there was a big meeting last week to whiddle things down... Luckily I'm in the process of moving so I can keep my mind off things... in case you were wondering if it's possible to pack an entire house by yourself with a 2 yr old underfoot who insists on helping, it is NOT!!

My favorite animated movie: the one I'm currently watching, I'm loving watching dd watch all the greats for the first time!!

Fav live action: pollyana, the original witch mountain, and also the way underknown Watcher in the Woods. Still scares the hooey out me!

Hi again everyone...been trying to keep busy with my DS's 1st birthday which was yesterday, he had loads of fun eating his first cake (and wearing it). Pics on my facebook & twitter for those that follow me there. :) Today my friend is coming over because she felt like cooking something exciting at my house - and making Beef Wellington. I can only think of Gordon Ramsay when I think of that dish, so since I prefer baking to cooking, I figure I'd take on the role of Chef Ramsay for the day! ;)

Outside of that I'm trying not to think too much about Tuesday or whenever we'll hear this week, but failing! :P I just worry that if I don't make it, will it be another mistake? Or if I do make it, will THAT be a mistake? Trying to convince myself I haven't made the cut so I'm more prepared for the news, but of course you still always *hope*. Sigh.

Anyway, my favorite animated film is so hard to pick. I really love Toy Story though, it'll always have a special place in my heart. I love all the Little Mermaid-era films too, like that one, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Aladdin, Hercules...all great music in those!

Favorite live-action would have to be Father of the Bride, I love love love that movie and could watch it 100 times. I'm a sap for a romantic story! Our wedding song was "The Way You Look Tonight" because of that movie. I only wish I could've had Franck plan my wedding! ;)

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend! :goodvibes

The question for Waiting Day 8/10 is:

As I ponder reality on this beautiful fall day in Ohio, I am reminded of my mortality. I am sure you all are familiar with the saying and movie about kicking the bucket.
With that in mind what is on your Disney Bucket List?

I know one thing I would really like to do is take some more of the backstage type tours. I have done the Behind The Seeds Tour and the Segway Tour of EPCOT but I would really like to experience more of the history and back stage working tours.

I would also love to savor a fancy, quiet, romantic dinner with DH at Victoria & Albert's. Maybe in two more years for our 35th Wedding Anniversary? Hint, Hint hubby dear!:goodvibes:lmao:

On the adventure side I would love to try the para-sailing over Bay Lake by the Contemporary! :cool1::thumbsup2

What is on your Disney Bucket List?

Highest on my Bucket List is to renew our vows at the Disney Wedding Pavillion. DH and I were Cast Members when the wedding pavilion opened and would head over there just to look at the pavilion on our days off. We could not afford to get married there at that time, but we did have our reception at the WDW Dolphin. I would LOVE love love to renew our vows there. Maybe for our 15th anniversary in 2 more years (our 13th is tomorrow!)...I'd love to have our children involved in the ceremony now, as the flower girl and ring bearers...it'd be so special. Would also love to have pictures taken in front of the castle. Even though I loved our wedding, I think I'd go all out and do a new dress and everything! :D

Next on the list would be Victoria & Alberts also. Never been so it'd be nice to enjoy a dinner there.

I'd also love to do all of the available tours and stay in the concierge level at all the Deluxe properties. :D

OH, and I think we'll be doing this in the next year, but go on another Disney cruise too!

Oh my gosh...2 more days. :scared1:

OK...so I missed the question the other day about movies: My favorite animated film...there are too many to list. I love The Fox and the Hound, Cinderella, The Jungle Book. And my favorite live-action has to be the POTC movies. Love those!

And on to today's question: My Disney Bucket List...in no particular order:
1. To be DVC owners
2. Eat at Victoria & Albert's
3. Take a Disney Cruise
4. Stay @ every resort
5. Renew my vows in 3 years at WDW (have to convince DH this is a good idea!)
6. Visit Disneyland and Disneyland Paris

So....back to the waiting :surfweb: :rolleyes1 .. trying to keep my mind on other things ... popcorn::

With that in mind what is on your Disney Bucket List?

My Bucket List in no particular order:

1. Eat at every WDW restaurant
2. Stay at every WDW hotel
3. Visit DLP and DT
4. Be a DVC owner
5. Do more of the special tours
