we have never been at free dining, but am I correct that if you book a package and get dining, you get dining for night booked? like a pass for 1 day but a 3 nights booked you get dining for 3 nights?
I have a GAD and a pass for 1 day from a time share presentation to use. Would like to have the dining but really only need one day park pass.
TIA

I did off site once and I won't do it again. I enjoy the amenities of staying there. But I can see why people do it.....it is cheaper.;)

You are right, but...the PP has a free QSDP pin and is hoping for full DDP free dining, which probably won't start until August 15th. :)

Hmm.. ok - so here's a thought - if I book 14 - 21 with free QSDP using my pin, and then the free Regular DDP comes out for the 15th onwards, can I call and upgrade to that for the 15th - 21st, but keep the QSDP for the 14th?

Good lord, I feel like I'm speaking in code! :rotfl:

Somewhere in a thread here someplace a DIS'er posted that they tracked this and according to what they saw last year..

Pop Century is one that typically sells out of available promo inventory first.. quickly followed by WL and CR.

And according to that poster it was 14 to 21 days into the promo.

Past performance is no guarantee of future returns. :)

First thank you for all your work in keeping us updated and offering guidance to many. Quick question....based on your knowledge and insight into the previous years FD...is there "usually" availability in villas assuming values go quickest etc?
Thanks again!

THAT issue.. is their 1980's 'Epcot-era' resorts management system. It desparately needs a bottom up refresh and update..

But .. that's not gonna happen in the foreseeable future from what I can tell.
Lol.....thats incredible! And slightly shocking.

This is a company that travels to various police programs at colleges and universities to teach people/cadets/officers how to maintain decorum when faced with challenges. The way they teach their characters to act. But, they have issues fixing the issues of their internal booking system.:confused3

Most times the F/D offers (either QS or regular) require at least 3 nights on that one offer.. So.. one night on the 14th on the QS offer may not be an option.

Honestly - I can't say. Sometimes suites and villas are excluded.. only way to know for sure is to call the first day.

Yeah.. Disney does SO many things right - it seems backward that this most basic thing is so, so, so wrong.

As a curiosity and well, because I had some free time and I am gluten for punishment, I decided to phone Dis reservations just to see about the promos and the story of putting FD on an existing reservation - which I have.

I already knew the answer but decided to play stupid just to see the answer I got...

So, I asked the question that everyone is asking - if I book XYZ stay right now and then FD comes out can I stuff that code on it - of course the resounding answer I got was "yes - no problem"...

So, I talked a little more to try and get them off guard and then asked, well what happens with my reservation if the FD comes out, but the inventory at the specific hotel is exhausted for that time period or the hotel manager decides not to participate (unlikely - so don't panic), or the promo does not apply to the room category or even the room I have already booked....

That is when you could hear them audibly squirming on the other end, because I just asked the question they don't want to answer when trying to get their booking quota for the day...yes even the CM's on the phones exert gentle pressure to book - some more then others - just listen carefully.

The answer was simply that if the inventory is gone then you have to be able to modify your reservation to accommodate an open selection......or, keep phoning back – you just never know!...

Playing the upset customer I said, "but I already have a booking for that period" and " have put down my deposit on the word of a CM that said I could do this"...

The rest of the conversation was so much double talk, which I will not bore you with..

So, my take on the bottom line is simple...pre-booking, even pre-paying does not guarantee you a FD fast pass to nirvana...

Once again, as most people who have been around the Disney merry go ‘round will tell you, is to book what you can afford within the time period you want to go and DO NOT depend on Disney magic…Honestly, I hope I am proven wrong, I would like to get FD as well for the time period we are going this year, but I am not going to depend on it.

I think a lot of this is besides the point, however. If you pay enough attention to be on the DIS message boards to know there's even a discount coming, you're going to get to the promo in time.

Don't forget you'd also have to have at least a 1-day park ticket added on each ressie in order to get the dining plan - free or paid. It would probably be cheaper to pay OOP for your meals on 8/14.

roomthreeseventeen: beside the point, really, I am happy that for you it is,

For so many others that ask the question in different formats and are stressed out about it, I was simply trying to help out..and I am sure they pay attention to the disboards as well..

Perhaps they don't have the time to live on the phone to get the promo "in time"..

so in deference to that opinion, my thoughts and others still hold, book what you can and enjoy

I think you misunderstood me... I wasn't trying to be haughty or anything. I was just saying, assuming that the promo "sells out" in 21 days, that's a LONG time, comparatively. People who check in here every day, or even every week, aren't going to have a problem.

If you book dining plan 3 nights and only a one day park pass, do you get 3 days of dining or just one?

IT use to be 3. But I'm not sure how this year it will work. Since alot of the promos this year have required a lenght of stay pass.

For us we booked bounce back last year for 9 nights with a one day pass. So yes we have FD for 9 nights.. We have alot of passes left over and really need to use them.

It is and it isn't. Time is money. Always a true statement - but even more so when you're on vacation. To me it depends on how you tour the parks and your length of stay.

The big kicker for me is always the price of parking. Paying what? $14 a day is it now to park? That isn't cheap. :scared:

I agree.....thats one reason we won't do it again. At the resort....we park and don't move the vehicle until we leave for NC.

Is it May 3 yet??:surfweb::scared::rolleyes1:rotfl2::lmao::guilty:

I'm like a loose cannon.

May 3rd is really taking it's time.....lets hope it's true :thumbsup2
can you imagine if it didn't come out.....this discussion would be come extremely heated and 'canadian guy' would be begging for mercy :rotfl2::worship::worship::worship:
i really hope so, i have some many other things i can do with my dining money....like but lightsabres and hats with ears!:wizard:

How do you find out when a new Disney Visa promotion comes out?
For example, Fall free dining?

I know I can log onto the Chase website and see the current promotion, but is there some kind of notification email Chase sends out, or another place I can go to sign up for a notification email?

Thanks.
