I am not good at the math and figuring which is the better value, but I can answer these two. You would have to do a split stay and you would not be guaranteed the same room, although they do try to keep you in one room they will not guarantee it.

keep in mind if you do any of the signature dining ( Hoop Dee Doo, CRT, Spirit of Aloha) the gratuity is included. so you may be using 2 credits for those, but you do NOT have to plan for additional tip. :-)

These are current dates & prices for regular dining plan:

1/01/10 - 2/11/10, 4/11/10 - 6/03/10, 8/15/10 -12/16/10 is $41.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).
*
2/12/10 - 4/10/10, 6/04/10 - 8/14/10, 12/17/10 - 12/31/10 is $46.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $12.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).

Throwing back in the pot here... I talked to a CM yesterday and she said MNSSHP tickets will be out April 29. Anyone think that particular date (if the May 3 Free Dining date does stick) will help them decide how many rooms to set aside for FD based on initial ticket sales for MNSSHP?

Personally I doubt it. MNSSHP tickets always go on sale around that time and they usually sell pretty well between the vacationers and locals. It's not uncommon to find sold out dates even in the month of September. So basing FD on MNSSHP sales probably wouldn't be the best way to go about it.

I have a quick qa, I see everyone saying May 3rd as the date FD is going to be announced. Where are you checking for this? On WDW website? I want to make sure I am looking in the right place!:confused3

it's totally based on RUMOR (hence the title of the thread!)... RUMOR that has been heard and shared by a number of independent sources... but RUMOR nonetheless...
(btw, i believe the rumor!)

I believe it too, but I believed the last date as well and it didn't come true. :lmao:

As for tipping and DH's mine said the same thing. "You have got to be kidding me. We have to tip that much." We do eat out, but he never is control of tipping. If he was, I would pity the poor wait staff. ;)

We got our tickets last year on the Dis. Somewhere here had to cancel their trip and we bought their tickets. However we went on October 2 (Friday night) and it was crowded but nowhere near sold out. I learned a valuable lesson...buy MNSSHP tickets on a weeknight! Trying to get pictures with characters was terrible.

We went to MVMCP in 2007 on a Tuesday, figured it would be less crowded. The party was sold out and jam packed, so the weeknights aren't always less crowded. But we still had a blast.

WOW! Well if we go this year we have decided to go on the Tuesday or Wednesday night. Whichever they have it. I think last year they were on Tuesday nights, but I can't remember.

We did MNSSHP last year on a Tues and it was busy too! Did get face painted and lots of candy and stayed til just after Midnight. Which was the start of DS's birthday, he was so excited to get his picture taken on Main Street at 12:01 AM on his birthday!! :)

So if it is true...how do we find out? Sorry, I am clueless! :confused3 This is the first time in all the years I have gone to Disney that I even knew about pins or discounts! Well, I think last year we went we got a some type of $ gift card? I could be wrong though...

We were able to get our faces painted!! But the lines for photos with characters was horrible. As long as I stood in that line...I got mine painted too!:rotfl:

Check here on the dis a few days before. In years past, a copy of the flier or add was posted. If no one manages to get a copy, then on May 3 log on to mousesavers or on the WDW web site early. Make sure that you call at 7:00 sharp and then log on the the web site as the cue for booking is sometimes long. Some have posted 20 minute pluse waiting times. Hope this helps. Hope all goes well for you.:goodvibes (we have been booking bounceback each year.)

Thank you sooo much! That is exactly the information I was looking for :thumbsup2

That "rumor" is completely FALSE. I already called and the CM said no problem...they'll just add the code to your reservation when it comes out.

And that CM lied to you (in part)..

The rumor about offers being for 'new reservations only' -- even I don't put a lot of stock in that for this year.. (truly)

But the fact that they will add the code to your reservation "no problem" -- that's not true. They will add the code to your reservation PROVIDED there is still promo room inventory at the resort/room category you have booked for the dates you have booked.

Remember.. if even 1 night shows no promo availability .. then the whole thing comes up as 'not available'.

I REALLY wish the CM's on the phone could and would start giving out proper information to their potential guests.

Very unprofessional to spread stuff that just plain isn't true.

I agree with Knox 100%, but also feel it is important to add that it is not a big deal for them to cancel your old reservation and make a new one, if you have to change room category or resort. The only problem may come from the guest who doesn't want to switch or the CRO who doesn't want to be bothered. ;) But as long as things stay the same as in prior deals, it can be done.

Absolutely.. as long as you're flexible with your resort/room category (and possibly dates) just about anything can get done most of the time.

But a lot of people have booked the resort and room category they want thinking that guarantees them an upcoming promotional rate at that resort when it is released. (in part fueled by MISINFORMATION from CM's on the phone - who really just wanted you to book 'today' so they can book the revenue and stay in the 'green')

It does not guarantee them anything other than a room at that resort for those dates at the price they booked... without any promos.

Pre-booking promos is generally (actually always) a giant waste of resources and time ... it makes people feel better.. But that's about all it does. (besides potentially opening up ADR booking about 10 days sooner..)

:)

How quickly in past years have the various resorts sold out of the free dining promo? Which resorts are historically the first to fill and how fast? Do I have to call the first minutes of the first day it becomes available, or would sometime that week be okay, typically, to get the resort I want. Anyone know?:confused3 I know no one can say for sure but I am just wondering about past fd promotions.
